I love the old Crocodile! I saved up my babysitting and gardening money to buy one around 1972 when I visited my mom's family in Northern Germany. Big and loud! So cool! Side note: My German cousin remembers it from then and surprised me a couple of years ago with a giant Lego model (10277) of the brown version.

About the layout: - It is a temporary set-up I use to run my collection of old trains, nothing is screwed down. The rolling stock was made in the 1980s, the tooling is often older, so is the track system. - It is analogue, 16V AC - The locomotives are all analogue -> no motor regulation, no individual speed control - The speed is set centrally in a way that all trains can make the ramp to the elevated section. - Automation is done with relays, stopping is done by cutting power to isolated track sections - a small "Braking" effect before stopping sections is achieved with diodes, this is to avoid trains jumping signals -> things are going fast in places, the stop/departure behaviour is not realistic by today's standards. If I was interested in realism, I would collect something newer and would install scenery... The point here is to experience the models as one would have when they were new, using the functionality available at the time, with all the flaws it entails.

Very enjoyable as always.

The 3082 model had a flaw; it has the same upper stucture as the 3085 and therefor the beam that supports the gear valve is positioned to high and metal bar behind it gets exposed. Nevertheless it was a nice model and loved watching the exploded view of the 3082 on page 16 of the 1979 catalog. 🙂

Short passenger cars always look better on M-track - indeed, in any Märklin track.

As always I enjoy your videos very much. This time I think the train was running too fast for a heavy goods train, nevertheless there is shot at 1:15 where the train travels the bridges which is espectacular, you should use it more frequently. Keep the videos coming.
