Hi, Happy belated Thanksgiving! Nice to join you for a walk and mushroom hunting. Seems like they really enjoy growing under the leaf litter. Thanks for the video! ☀☀
@@JenniferLupine thanks for the support and encouragement. Appreciate you following us.
@@beesoung Nice to meet you!
A beautiful hike! Too bad you had some fog and lots of mud. Your camping spot looked great and so did you food! 👌😄
@@JenniferLupine We had a lot of fun in the Oregon Coast. The fog didn't cooperate but it's still a great hike
@@beesoung I hope we can get out there some day too. Thanks!
Glad you made another video. I remembered commenting on your channel a while back but i couldn't remember your channel name and I subscribe to a lot of channels. Finally found it
@@CheaddakerT.Snodgrass Thank you so much for the support and encouragement
Where you go this time?
This is at Gifford Pinchot National Forest
@ great, we just went there on 26 too
What type of trees are the ones that look like redwoods?
Sorry I'm not quite sure what they are either. They are huge and very tall. It's surreal walking in this park.
@ I was trying to look online and wasn’t finding it exactly :2
We just got our first real rain here in NorCal, I’ve been out foraging several days a week since October and am finally this week finding a few fungi. The season starts later here every year these days. Anyways, thanks for the video motivation! See you all in the forest!
@@dcfromthev Thank you. Happy foraging
Love the videos! Do you host paid tour to experience foraging mastutaki?

- Do you live in Washington?
@@blessedbeauty2293 Yes I do
@beesoung - Awesome. My cousin is from CT, than moved to Southern Cal, now lives in Washington && she seems to like it. I follow many youtube channels of ppl who live in Washington & forage mushrooms & get lake trout. I'm making my way out there after I get my back surgery.
- Look at how *perfect* those blueberries are. Omgosh. 🫐 🫐 🫐 16:19
- Why in the world did she have to smash the rusula ? Those are edible as well.
@@blessedbeauty2293 We didn't know. Thank you
That russula is what hypomyces lactiflorum paratisises to create the lobster mushroom
@beesoung - No problem my friends.
@@blessedbeauty2293 Thank you for sharing the information. Learn new things everyday
Usually they're full of bugs also. Most dont eat the russula.
- Those are some of the finest mushrooms !. I wish my they had those where I live. I'd be full && rich. 😊🍄

This was wonderful to watch! The PNW is so beautiful and the mushrooms are swoon-worthy! I took your advice at the end of the video and booked a flight to SEA next week. I forage fungi in MN and am excited to try finding matsutake, even though I’m not sure where to begin! Can you give me any advice (or) point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.👍
Gifford Pinchot National Forest near Packwood, WA or Longmire. WA with 1800-2600 ft elevation. Go up on any forest roads and look for old growth coniferous forests. Dirt should be ashy gray and sandy. Best of luck foraging.
@ Thanks so much!👍
@@beesoung Per your guidance, we arrived in Packwood and headed up to the 2100 elevation on one of the forest roads. Looked for pine with salal and Oregon grape undergrowth. Found three. Can I send you pics for verification?
@careyblinn1346 Glad you found some. You can email me at bsoung68@gmail.com
Nice video, brother.
@@khuester71 Thank you
Going to try to forage for Matsutake for the very first time this coming weekend. I know a good forager never shares his favorite spots but is there a general spot that you could point to me where I might find Matsutake in the Gifford-Pinchot national forest? Thanks!
Without giving way too much, you can try near Packwood
@@beesoung Thank you! I might be thinking too far ahead. Once foraged, how long do they last, assuming my wife and I managed to find some 😄? We have done quite a bit of foraging for chanterelle and they seem to last a few weeks in the fridge.
@@changrenyong7616 a week or two in the fridge. You can freeze fresh (don't cut) in the freezer and it'll last up to a year. Good luck foraging.
any good areas around Aberdeen? I'd love to find some but the areas suggested in the comments so far is a far drive
@mtn.dewstroyer3494 Aberdeen might be too low in elevation. Might want to try higher elevation in the Olympic National Forest
Thanks for sharing. Just started mushroom hunting. Hope it's not too late in the season.
I think it's just mid-season for matsutake in most areas
