Insane music and finger pointing does not help understand how to find and remove lights
Do I really have to tell you to turn the bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it? Like I do at 2:14
Do you need thread tape? Because mine leaks like a sieve even though I tightened the crap out of it.
@@jf8461 Nope these are compression fittings. Make sure your line is on straight and The nut is not cross threaded.
Thank you, I would have missed the "remove EFI" fuse step. Did you consider dropping the frame cross brace so you could get a better grip on the upstream fittings? I realize now that I should have changed the filter while I was changing out the transmission and clutch. 66 years old and I am still learning stuff.
@@dalegray934 Yeah that probably would have been a good idea. This is my neighbor's truck in the video so maybe I'll try that next time I replace the fuel filter for him.
Thanks dude
Thank-you for this video! I did everything you said and the truck started right up. The only thing I did different was I soldered all the connections. Since the truck's been sitting for a while, the choke is stuck open and it won't idle...ay yai yai. I think I can blame California gasoline for the carb to get gummy. Mixing ethnal with gasoline is a huge mistake in my opinion. Anyway, thanks for your video. I'm a subscriber, now!
@@svt9480 awesome! glad it helped you out.
do you have a video for carbureted 22r Thanks in advance
@@anthonyhartman848 It's funny my main truck is actually a carbureted model but I did the conversion before I started this UA-cam channel.
@@archaicautomotive2444 I have 86 Toyota p/u and I am just starting the operation of getting rid of stock carb , replace with LCE weber carb but don' t see anything about how to set up for A/C, and what to dump. looks like two charcoal canisters . kinda need more info.
@@anthonyhartman848 on your canister set up you should be able to tee it into the vacuum advance port on the carb. At least that's how I have mine set up. You will also need to add a fitting to the Weber carb for the canister vent. I'm not 100% sure the AC but I'm pretty sure you just need to leave the vacuum switching valve in place so it will be able to idle up when the AC is turned on.
I live in Washington with an 86 4Runner having that same issue and looking to fix, it was intermittent for awhile then now it just won’t turn over
@@greygreenough5505 Yeah that happened to my '87 too. Sometimes unplugging the relay and plugging it back in would work but it got to the point where it was just constantly doing it. If your local to me feel free to bring it by or ask any questions you need and we can get you sorted.

@@billythomas4527 Right on man Glad to hear your truck runs better! That's one of the reasons I see a point in doing the emissions delete. After 30+ years a lot of that old stuff doesn't work anymore or at least not correctly.
Your the hero of youtube 😂 any chance you know how to find the air vacuum hose for me to pour catalytic converter cleaner into? Or if you still have this truck whats the best way to clean the catalytic converter???
@@raynermadsen5698 thanks man! What I would try first is a product called cataclean they sell it at any auto parts store. Just pour it in the gas tank and drive it around a bit. If that doesn't work you might have to actually take the catalytic converter out and wash it out with hot water and dawn dish soap.

Mine has AC also. What lines do I keep for that? Currently have the head off, just got it back from the machine shop and have all the plates in place.
@@40calAnimalControl Just the two that come off the Black VSV.
And the whole vsv lines and connectors also get deleted ?
Most of them and I just left the connections unplugged and tucked them back.
So the fuel pressure regulator does get used not deleted also ? And if so does it stay bolted onto the air injection valve but just capped off ?
No the fuel pressure regulator stays in place.
Man I feel like the dumb guy but the battery wire hooks directly to the pos on the battery?
@@JamesNealon-b5h Yes it will connect directly to the battery.
Yeah Thanks man wiring makes my head hurt but I looked at it just seemed too easy . Basically bypassed all the Bs. Unfortunately I already had purchased an expensive used relay. I used the same starter for ten years aftermarket then went through 3 in six months one was bad out of the box second one lasted a month and then I the third one was going it seemed to lock up at times still think the solenoid could be hanging up but its very random and at 50 im just get too old to pop start my rig, so anyways thanks for the info
@@JamesNealon-b5h I'm glad it helps you out man! I've had this set up for probably around 4 plus years now and it's never not started.
Yeah, me too. I was thinking where on the positive side of the battery is the wire gets hooked up; on the post, cut the cable then attach it, or attach it to the terminal..? Now I see it as attaching it directly to the terminal. Thanks, now I dont feel so dumb.
Ordered everything and cranked right up. Thanks buddy
@@chrishanna3422 no problem, I'm glad it helped you out!!!
I have an 86 toy base, 5spd rwd. I also had the no click start problem. Did the wire by pass method n no starting issues since the install.
Coolness!
I wanted to brighten my speedometer for years but afraid I'd have to spend hours tearing apart the dash to replace the bulbs. After viewing your video I tackled the project. I wish I knew before how easy it would be. Knowledge is power. It was helpful to loosen up the speedometer cable before removal of the instrument panel. Thank you!
Awesome man! Glad this video helped you out!!! And yeah the speedometer is the most tricky part. I always would try to cram my hand back there before I discovered it was way easier to take a little more time and just loosen the thing up. 😂😅
Used this to replace some dash bulbs in my 86 pickup! Thanks mate!
Glad it helped
Isn’t loosening the front line the money shot? I can’t see what’s going on. I don’t see a crows foot wrench
Sorry the angle was bad, kind of hard to get the camera down in there. But you can see the crow's foot at 1:16.
@@archaicautomotive2444 Thanks for the vid, I appreciate you. Yes, it would be tricky to get a good shot. I wasn't familiar with how crowfoot wrenches work but I get it now. The other video I watched about replacing the fuel filter, the guy broke the fuel lines, so you did great. I ordered some flare nut crowfoot wrenches so I should be all set.
I plan on doing this with my vehicle, but doesn't this cause it to run lean? Like the O2 sensor is used to getting that much extra air, when it stops getting it doesn't it make it go rich?
No as far as know The computer will just adjust mixture accordingly. All the air injection/ egr system does is make the burn a little cleaner by injecting a little fresh air into the cylinders for cleaner burn.
And that's how you get a federal charge. By modifying or removing emission control devices on your vehicle. Don't listen to this clown
If you live in a shit state perhaps.
Thank you
Glad it helps!
Not even half way through and I’ve decided to keep mine. Goodness!
So if I already cut the harness and ran it to the battery, would I just keep that then just cap the red wire if I were to add this relay?
Yes or reconnect it when you cut it from.
Well that was interesting I haven't seen one those in decades, I can tell that's not the original carb and there is a block off plate where the fuel pump should be. I worked at Toyota when those trucks were around and rebuilt tons of carbs, before fuel injection came out..
It's an aftermarket Weber 38/38 but I still do have the original mechanical fuel pump. The block off plate you see in the video is the EGR block off.
@@archaicautomotive2444 Oh yea I think your right, god I'm getting old, still nice to see one still on the road.
@@ws2664 Great old trucks I love them!
I would guess it's original so that would mean it has about 286,000 miles on it. This is my 1987 4x4 daily driver. And I don't know how many owners it's had but when I got it definitely had a lot of it's original parts. 😂😅
I just realized that it's that easy to steal my truck. I'll have to address this issue. Great video, for some reason I thought you were changing the key set. All good.
Yes theft is very common on these, a coil kill switch is a good idea.
Also the reason I have a detachable steering wheel on mine.
@@archaicautomotive2444 What year is the truck?

Of course! Glad it helps! 🙂
It would of been nice to see the engine after words and the pile on the ground. But still nice video
Where did you get those cap off nipples ?
I’ve tried running the wire directly to the harness and it worked. However, it’s more of a temporary solution because I started having the same problem again after about 2 years. I am now looking for a more permanent solution but I am also reluctant to get a ford relay in there. This looks like a great idea and it looks very clean and factory. Thank you for sharing!
Glad it helps! I've had this set up for a couple years now and have not had a problem.
What do you do with the bimetal valve?
I just left it in place disconnected. You can also buy plugs off LC engineering to plug them.
@archaicautomotive2444 okay thank you mine are just unplugged but that's how it came when I bought the truck and didn't know if they needed to be plugged. Thank you again
@@jb.8629 No problem!
Is the a fuse connected to the cluster
Yes there is It's the fuse labeled as "TAIL" in the fuse box under the dash. If that's good you most likely want to look into the tail light relay or the rheostat for the dimmer.
This is interesting. How does it run and idle afterwards? Can you do this on a 22re with an automatic transmission? Does it affect gas mileage?
Runs just fine. I assume you could do it on an automatic too shouldn't really make a difference. As far as gas mileage goes I can't say I've noticed an increase or decrease.
@@archaicautomotive2444 Cool. I am having an issue with the EGR vacuum modulator causing problems shifting (I suspect), and they are getting hard to find aftermarket at parts stores, so I was thinking about deleting that whole system.
@@trentp151 You could also probably temporarily vacuum cap off the connections and see if that makes a difference.
Great video. Thanks for sharing this.

AND thats why I have a hidden kill switch.....You can steal these trucks by taking out 7 screws and bypass the lock and work the switch...Like the dash paint...what is it??
Thanks it's just some spray texture paint I got from the auto parts store. I believe dulpi color makes it.
GREAT tip...Getting hard to find parts for the old toyotas...Cheack out "6th gear garage" on youtube he has a small store and sells used parts...Ive been looking for the 4x4 light indicator switch(goes on transfer case) for 3 years with no luck....
Very cool, nice and tidy. How do you like the Weber? When I changed mine, it was night and day, I did put the Offenhauser intake on though, and a dual-row chain. JIm
Thank you Jim! The Weber works great I like it a lot more than the stock carb, It does have a little bit of issue at high angles when I'm off-roading but other than that it works really well.
I heard they don't like elevation changes( going from sea level to 7000 ft up? I've not driven up into the mountains.@@archaicautomotive2444
@@aerialrescuesolutions3277 It's usually not too bad unless I'm going up a real steep incline. There's actually a modification that you can do to the Weber that relocates the fuel bowl vent to correct that issue. Maybe I'll cover it in an upcoming video.
That would be great.@@archaicautomotive2444
Got a 38mm Weber on a LCE stage 2 stroker..(160hp).Only problem is it blows up G and W transmissions...had to find a R151F and it cost me big along with a V6 diff....Anyone installing a Weber remember they only need 2.5 to 4 psi fuel pressure(OEM pump is 7 psi), anything more and they run very rich and cant tune... Before you cut up any wires make sure the rely is totally bad, Ive opened one and cleaned the contacts and fixed it....
Excellent, good to know. Mine are looking a little 1987 ish
Yeah these are a great match I'm very happy with them.
Can you still pass emissions test that affect anything at all on the engine for the emissions?
That is a very good question... I couldn't tell you. I live in a state where we don't require emissions. But I would say most likely not if you live in California.
I did this and my check engine light disappeared. But my idle still surges up and down when I press the brake pedal, it started doing that after I did my timing chain and guides. Good video by the way.
Several things you might want to check. Throttle position sensor adjustment. Coolant level/make sure there is no air in the cooling system. Vacuum leaks/The condition of the o-ring that goes around the throttle body idle adjustment screw. All those things can give you a looping idle. If it happened after you did the timing chain I would guess that you probably have a little air in the cooling system.
Alright, I will check all of those things. Thank you for responding 👍
