From Nuits De La Fondation Maeght, Truth is Marching in. One of my favorite versions of the song, a lot of power.

Mirror shatters
One of my favorites.
He is so good. The Arkestra had some heavy hitters.
Wooow never thought I'd find this again this don't sound like the first one I heard but just the memory is enough, I think they took the original down
When Hendrix played like this he played acustic
This man and the other people with Sun Ra were/are great players!!!
Pharaoh can commune with God and make the most beautiful music and then he can make this free jazz bullshit that sounds like there is a dead rat in his saxophone. Get those demons out I guess.
He played the full spectrum
DARK STAR..RIP GERRY..RESPECT FROM EDINBURGH SCOTLAND..
This actually was a great LP and had superb poetry on the obverse and reverse by Sun Ra. Truly a masterpiece.
Always good to hear brother Corey.
Un maestro injustamente poco recordado
Great solo. Well developed. Really takes you for a ride and drops you off (on another planet).
Love the blues. Without the blues there ain't no rock and roll
💯% right.☮️
John Gilmore -- as magical as Coltrane.
I think it’s “Crossings”
Great pic of Jerry
Y'know death don't have no mercy in this land Death don't have no mercy in this land, in this land Come to your house, you know he don't take long Look in bed this morning, children find your mother gone. I said death don't have no mercy in this land. Death will leave you standing and crying in this land, Death will leave you standing and crying in this land, in this land, yeah! Whoa! come to your house, why' know he don't stay long, Why' look in bed this morning, Children you find that your brothers and sisters are gone. I said death don't have no mercy in this land. Death will go in any family in this land. Death will go in any family in this land. Come to your house, you know he don't take long. Look in the bed on the morning, children find that your…

Is this performance on an album by chance?
Ya, it's on the album Nuits de La Fondation Maeght, I believe taken from two live shows in 1970.
The cadenza gives me strong Trane augmented scale vibes ... the '65 Coltrane link is clear!!!
Coltrane learned from Gilmore though
Coltrane learned from Gilmore though
Has anyone transcribed this incredible solo?
Not that I know of, would be amazing to see though!
@@moshwangles After a few more listens, I don't believe it is possible, lol.
@@brötzmannsax Ra made sure that his musicians expression went beyond what can be transcribed
@@brötzmannsax the notes are hearable even the high register screams, you can definitely learn to play like him but it's just not realistic to chart it accurately on paper especially the rhythm
Drool ar
Great work by Sun Ra and John Gilmore . Easy to listen to once you get it .

very very cute
What is the name of this piece ?
Who cares lol
"Sun Ra And His Band From Outer Space", I think.
@@SwolePorter Especially with his playbook of ten million compositions, who the fuck would know, or care!
"Sun Ra and his Band from Outer Space" - from the album "Nothing Is"
It is a bit hard to listen to, but I acknowledge the artistry and skill level of this type of jazz.
Lord have mercy!
Great Content
nice seeein you in these parts.
Albert Ayler tenor sax, Call Cobbs piano, Allen Blairman drums, and yours truly Steve Tintweiss bass July 27, 1970
Fuck yea
GOOD STUFF
It was great to hear them play this song again on their Fare Thee Well Tour...
Full song b/w video / HQ Audio: www.myvideo.de/watch/11935624/Jimi_Hendrix_Machine_Gun_Fillmore_East_HQ_Audio
Cornelius Zwackelmann thanks for sharing, but just to let everyone know that's the machine gun from the first show, not this one.
***** Yes, that's right. My bad
I remember the Grateful Dead and the Jefferson Airplane put on a free show in Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate park in San Francisco, I think it was 1970. Jerry Garcia and Paul Kantner were so great trading leads on this song. Also, they did a song, "Can you see the Saucers" and Jerry sounded link a friggin' UFO with his lead guitar. That was the first time I ever heard the Baby Tree song, too. No recorders there, though. More moments, lost in time; alive only in a few old hippie's memories.
Fire every where
this is just a cover of the song you guys. Look at the description.
Its called Calling Long Distance
Just to update, anybody that wants to learn how to play like this or learn the general approach to the music please buy the dvd. Corey Harris is definitely one of the best modern bluesman. You can learn a lot from him. www.amazon.com/DVD-Corey-Harris-Teaches-Guitar--Mississippi/dp/B000CEGXZA/ref=sr_1_3?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1409803129&sr=1-3&keywords=cory+harris
feeble music
well thats just like, your opinion man.
Feeble? I am NOT a long haired Hippie and this is NOT feeble..See Jerry had a rich full SOUL..his vocals may never have been perfection.. but there is soul, emotion, feeling,. and pain in this performance.
It goes completely over his head. And he's probably a very sad person, hence the failed attempts at trolling and attention whoring.
2 years later, I'm listening to this again, I think this may be the best dead jam I've heard. It swells, it roars, it explodes, it crackles, it simmers, it is a thing of beauty.
@1019drummer (bump!) WOOF WOOF!!! Cheers!
to anyone that wants to know, the full version of this song can be purchased on its own for 99p on Amazon. Here's the link: www.amazon.co.uk/Machine-First-Show-Live-Fillmore/dp/B002ZPIQC2 It's not often that I pay for songs these days, but trust me, it's worth every penny. That sweet thumpy univibe intro.... fucking delicious
One of the most beautiful shows ever! Miss you Jerry.
You took the beginning of the solo from the outtakes of bold of love? I love that version.
Great cover! Could you share the notes for it?
Time well-spent!!!
--to me, this was thee definitive version of MACHINE GUNN, what a DAMN shame they made you take it down. --as I understand it there are many "copy-right" VULTURES out there for Jimi's stuff now, ........
certain versions of this, SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF ME, when his solo's come in. somewhere in the back of my head, i think this CAN'T be a human doing this, it's some sort of SCARY MACHINE. ...... MACHINE GUNN BABY, .. MACHINE GUNN.
