I remember I was able to earn some online trophies for BF: BC2 just a day before the servers got shut down, thanks to some random dudes playing that helped me at that time. A nice way to end the multiplayer to an awesome game.

I rarely buy games anymore (don't have the space) but when I do I, luckily, have an awesome secondhand store near me and even though the owner is a good business man he doesn't overcharge. He also gives discounts to regulars and because of that I've been going back for years. When I do browse garage sales etc. It's sorta like you said on one end you get the "market" price people or the other where they have no clue and just sell to get rid of it.

I agree. Most used online console prices are fairly stable, so for most used consoles there’s no rush to buy. If a yard sale is selling a console for same as online, then it’s not time sensitive for the buyer and the buyer can just say “It’s okay, I’m good. I can buy a similar condition console online next week or next month or whenever. I don’t need to buy this one today if there’s no discount.”

I actually really like viir. The slow system suits me just fine, I like to take my time and chill.

For the ones that are regular white cases, I don’t think it’s too hard to find replacements for. You could try putting your games in plastic protector sleeves as well for now on. I’ve seen people put games in hard cases or plastic sleeves like comic book bags with a resealable top.

As is said below a B-roll would be a great idea but with you actually playing the games you are talking about. I enjoyed your recent video where you were commenting on the controls and gameplay from some underrated wii games. That kind of content would help beef up your vids and let everyone know you know what you're talking about. Congrats on one year!

Wii don't like it

The GameCube version of twilight princess is objectively the most well crafted of the traditional 3D titles. It has the fewest glaring flaws and is overall the most well rounded experience.

Were the paper inserts okay, because you can soak the Wii cases in bleach. The same thing you do to cutting boards.

Man that's rough. At least you were able to replace & swap cases, by using game lots and even add some titles in the process. A few years back I had some water damage on some blu-ray cases/covers. There was a leak in my roof and of course it happened over my shelves... I was very lucky, only a handful of covers were badly damaged, leaving the covers warped or ripped. Of those though, one was harder to replace, an import of 'The Gift' (2000, Cate Blanchette). It was a Nordic import blu-ray, that itself had taken a couple of years of tracking emails to find. That one stung, but recently Arrow released it on UHD and BD, so I'll probably double dip later this year. After that, I used sealable plastic wraps on any blu-rays or DVDs that were imports or more expensive titles. I had used wraps previously, for steelbook cases & slipcovers, and thought it was worth the fairly small price to just protect those other cases. But even using wraps isn't without risks. I've seen people discover old vinyl releases with plastic covers, where the chemicals have broken down and damaged the covers. A common example is that rubberised plastic coating on electronics, that breaks down over time and leaves it with a sticky/tacky feeling. Had an old third party PS3 controller do that, and a USB stick.

Came in here thinking I was gonna watch some massive disaster. Got "oh noes, the bottoms of my cases have yellow on them!" 😂😂 Games still work? Then they're not ruined. 🤦‍♂️

Breath of the Wild for me

I have discs of all types, some from as far back as the 80s that have been stored for 20+ years, and none have disc rot. Obviously don’t abuse your games, but currently it’s not a big issue. I also have Dreamcast games imported from Japan that still work fine.

I use IKEA 'Billy' bookcases. You can buy extra shelves and they're laminate, so no worries about paint bleed.

They were mostly good games! Burnout Paradise was just... flat for me. You're right, the old school ps2/xbox era was the best. As was, IMHO the need for speed series.

That's why when you go to some places, you cannot help to wonder why they put mylan paper below before they slot the books into the shelf. Because the wood yellowing will transfer most of the time. I am not sure why is it so but I have seen it myself afew times. Some people would rather use stainless steel. For your collection, I suggest you replace the shelf to sliding shelfs 3 stacks so you can save space and still show your collections.

I’ve only ever played burnout paradise when I was a kid but it was one of my favorite games on my 360

Today me and my daughter were about to play Super Mario 3D World on the WiiU, however the disc wouldn’t read… and it’s in spotless condition. This is the second WiiU game disc that won’t read, first being the NSMBU + Super Luigi U bundle disc. Sad and disappointing

That's frustrating and kind of heartbreaking. You put lots of time and energy into building the shelves and the collection and then bizarrely find that one thing is destroying the other. My suggestion would be look into safe alternatives to re-paint those shelves (or maybe all of them to make them match). As for the games, you already tried everything I would suggest except bleach and I don't know if that would work any better

To be honest i never payed attention to Burnout series, but the racing franchise i miss the most is Midnight Club. It would be soooo good to have open world, underground 2 like racing game, but on GTA 5 kinda engine.

I think that's because of moisture, are you using a dehumidifier for your collection? this happens to my Nintendo 3DS games the white cases got the yellowish dirt..

I use game storage bags for all my games. I buy a brand that advertises that the chemicals used to make the bags are selected to ensure the bags don’t damage or blemish the game cases.

Have you tried using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponge to remove the yellowing on the Wii cases? They are very good.

Recently i just starting taking a look at my PS3 and PSP game collection and some games have the transparent plastic that protect and holds the cover in place desintegrating, can't figure out the reason for it.

It's not that big of a deal.

Bro this situation most def. sucks but you have a really good positive look on the matter as a whole. It would make you want to quit but as a fellow collector we both know that's not really likely to happen lols.

I don't think its a big deal, its still good underneath and you could probably scratch it off with a fingernail.

With old yellowing consoles people have used hydrogen peroxide to whiten them , might be worth a try ?

I built shelves just like that but I never painted them. I covered them with felt fabric the kind they use for big speaker boxes. I used a staple gun to attach it.

I think to have two different colors with shelves, is sometimes good looking. Otherwise, with only one color with so many shelves, it is blunt, just one color on the eyes. Chemical reactions I thought within the first minutes into the video. Geez. So upsetting. How to know that all. Self-made things... Have to know what to do.

I keep my games in shed outside and have some games in my game room.keep organizer.

This is why I am not collecting for a full set, the best thing to do is collecting the games you want to play and enjoy your time, there was no reason to make these shelfs all by yourself just to have all these extra space for a full set. I also use plastic protectors for every single game of mine its similar like for Trading card games as the stuff gets older and older by the day, maybe that could help you too.

Your solution really sounds like the best one out there! You’ve definitely got some good patience to do it over time, but it works!

Could it be the other console boxes were not in white so the blemishes were not that visible? Would’ve been good to show underneath and not just the unaffected surface area.
