Norfolk Southerns Peavine line MP 94-91
This is video I filmed off the ATV while flying the drone. This is very difficult to travel as you will see here in this video. Hope you will enjoy watching me fight my way through this section.#norfolksouthern #railwayCheck this out!! The voters of Cincinnati probably killed the last 20 miles of this line for good.
In 2022, [NS](www.norfolksouthern.com/) reported executing a [purchase agreement for the Class II](www.railwayage.com/freight/class-i/ns-to-acquire-cincinnati-southern-for-1-62b/), which it and its predecessor railroads have been operating under a lease agreement with the City of Cincinnati, Ohio, since 1881. The 1.62 billion offer for the line that connects Cincinnati and Chattanooga, Tenn., was approved by the CSR Board and City, but the deal required changes in state law approved by voters through a public referendum, as well as [Surface Transportation Board](www.stb.gov/) (STB) approval. [STB authorized the acquisition, subject to employee protective conditions, on Sept. 19, 2023](www.railwayage.com/freight/ns-bid-to-acquire-csr-faces-legislative-hurdle/?RAchannel=home), saying it “would not likely cause a substantial lessening of competition or create a monopoly or restraint of trade.” Now, voters have also signed off on the deal.
Included in the transaction is the approximately 9,500 acres of land that sits under the CSR infrastructure that is maintained NS. As part of the agreement, NS said it will also donate to the State of Ohio approximately 20 miles of the east end of its Peavine Line, an out-of-service segment that runs from Rarden to Vera Junction. I have finally installed this 3 cylinder 3D82AE-3HC Yanmar engine in my mini excavator. This engine stock with standard size pistons makes 25 HP. I have installed .20 over sized pistons in this engine so the horse power maybe slightly more. This engine was blown up when I purchased this mini for only $3,000. This is one of my newest expensive projects I have going on right now. Komatsu PC27mr-1 with a 3 cylinder 3D82AE-3HC Yanmar engine. The engine was blown up when I bought it for $3,000. The engine machine work cost $2,080 and new parts so far about $2,500 with a few more in the future. Hopefully I’ll make some videos of this a lot more in the future like I have with my dozer. ua-cam.com/video/tV...
Digging a new pond with 450C John Deere crawler

This video is long so you may have to skip around Parts of it. In this video I start digging a new pond in a natural spring that never goes dry even during the hardest droughts. It was full of black muck and was a big mosquito pit so I figured I’d at least make a nice small pond out of it. Had about 1 foot of black muck and leaf rot then from there it was all hard clay and rock. Probably only a...
Destroying concrete bridge beams with hydralic ram on John Deere excavator

Working on a bridge demolition with concrete beams. This one was rehabbed in 1975 with hollow concrete beams. They are 6inches thick all the way around with rebar. The bottom was all steel prestressed cables that are really tough. It’s hard to hit and stay on with the excavator. I eventually got them small enough to fit in a dump truck. Thanks for watching and please watch another one!!

When you hear ignorant people parrot back the phrase "it's illegal to collect rainwater" usually applied to some US state, and they say it in a way that some tyrannical government is going to kick your door down for having a barrel to collect the storm drain, watch this video. This is the purpose of "it's illegal to collect rainwater" laws. Some people think it would be nice to have a pond or small lake on their property, and build dams that can overflow like this one. And where does that surge of water go? In most cases, someone else's property. That is why you cannot collect a pond full of rainwater. So you don't destroy someone else's property.

@@HyenaEmpyema well I live in the middle of nowhere and nothing was damaged. You don’t know this area and probably don’t live anywhere near it. I know this area really well.

@Paw95 I accept that. If you have enough acreage to not impact others with a dam burst, that's good (although I'm sorry for the loss of fish and other damages this caused you). My comment was explaining the purpose of the "no rainwater collection" laws. If someone only had a few acres and set up a dam like this, it would be a disaster to everyone below them. If everyone in a semi rural area had a pond and one overflowed into another, it could cause a chain reaction.

Agree with others, most people simply do not realise the power of water. Once that bank is undermined there is little you can do. Even with the right materials and two dumpers you would have strugled to rescue it. Once those pipes wash the earth out from the inside of those banks you have a huge problem on your hands. The armchair engineers also forget those culvers are a few thousand dollars each. It is not as simple as the "experts" think it is. Good luck with the repair, would be great to see the end result with the new spillway. Depending on how much water is always flowing in the spillway you could look at some form of hydro generation.

The line is clearly getting reclaimed by nature as time goes on. However, I've acutally though about starting a GoFundMe page in the future to raise money that I'll use to purchase the line between Rarden and Otway (about $20 to 30 million or more), cut away the vegetation, replace the old ties, build railway stations in Rarden and Otway, get a self-propelled railcar, and use the line for tourist operations and/or passenger service.

I bet the state just lets it sit there forever with the hope that someday they can lure a big factory or something like it out there to bring jobs to the area. Once the rails come up, they will never be put back in again. NS gave up on this line in 2003 and the only thing the CCET could use it for is storage, and that would be after they spent millions to get the washouts fixed and the brush cleared just to park cars. Storage business is good when it`s there, and when it`s not, you got a lot of empty track you`re paying taxes on.

Both Dad and I are Sad to see this happen and with storm damage on other lines this would be a nice detour route. Clare Yard always have high water issues in the winter time so if that bridge is damage from flooding there's No way out So by closing the back door NS is screwing themselves. CSX messed up in 1985 when they ripped up the line from Greenfield to Chillicothee and all the way Northeast to Grafton W-VA. NS should have learn from this mistake. Thanks for the post.

In November 1977, while I was stationed in California with the USAF, a colleague brought in a local newspaper that featured a small headline about a dam break in Georgia. Nearly 40 people had perished. The name Toccoa Falls struck me immediately; I grew up just 30 minutes away and had often stood atop that very earthen dam. Among my old photos is one of me at the dam, taken in the late 1960s. During my subsequent leave, I returned to Georgia and spoke with someone who had monitored the Kelly Barnes Dam during the persistent rains. Tragically, most of the victims were affiliated with Toccoa Falls College. That memory came flooding back as I watched the events unfold.

Boreham Wood will have to up their game to finish in the top seven. There are many clubs at the same standard in this league and most are operating on a part time basis. What impression does this give about the players, the bulk of which got the club relegated from the National last season? Lose to Farnborough then Luke's job is on the line as the club sacked Ross for a poor run of two for twelve in his last four games
