Hi Jeremy. This part is designed to be used with round pipe. The oval portion is typically on the stove itself, but it is then transitioned to a round pipe. It's unlikely that you will find an oval stove pipe on the market. You might find an oval chimney liner for the installation of an insert, but that is a different type of venting altogether. @@ICCRSF yeah my parents need an 8” oval pipe to connect right to their stove, it’s been impossible to find one. Might have to get one made at a fab shop

@@jeremyjames249 That shouldn't be necessary. The parts in this video will probably solve their problem. The bottom portion is oval and the top is round. So, they can use this adapter to transition from oval to round and then do the rest of the installation with round pipe.

Hi Tim, the new blower generates 10x as much static pressure. Increasing the static pressure helps to create noticeably more output, but not 10x as much. It is difficult to say exactly how much additional output there is, but the difference is considerable. You would definitely feel the difference between the two fans.

@@ICCRSF Thank you very much for the info I have already ordered the newer blower I have an onyx 2 system dated 2008 I am literally gonna make a video of the ribbons hanging off the front of the vent to give you so if it does work that well this should really help it is literally the only one complaint I have had with this fireplace since I had it installed I love it thank you again

The inside portion can be mounted in any orientation. The fresh air intake can be below, above or on the side of the exhaust pipe. For the portion on the exterior wall, it has to be mounted with the intake below the exhaust.

You can occasionally hear pops, but the glass is well sealed and muffles much of the sound. There is an optional firescreen that lets you enjoy all the crackling fire you like. It just won’t heat as much when you’re using the firescreen though.

Hi Melanie, good question. The Uptown is not considered a slow combustion fireplace and is intended primarily for ambiance rather than heat. It burns cleanly enough to be an EPA Qualified fireplace with the door closed. It also includes a screen that is built right into the fireplace and allows you to enjoy a crackling fire with the door open. Yes, the interior portion can be mounted with the air intake below or beside the pass-through. Mounting it sideways can be helpful when it is installed near the floor and there are baseboards or other materials in the way. Hope this helps!

Hi Steven. The 2008 Opel has quite a large bottom louver and the new HB9 blower should have plenty of space to fit. If the fireplace is Clean Face, and doesn't have bottom louvers then no internal blower should be installed. You can position the new fan in the exact position of the old one. The wiring setup is also the same. Hope this helps!

The part I’m un sure of, the instructions are meant for the new Opel 2. It doesn’t tell what modifications I need to make to the floor Shield. It appears I need to use a grinder and just cut it back an inch...

@@stevenpeterson2902 The floor shield in an older Opel does not need to be cut. It is the correct size to accommodate the blower. You will have to ensure the shield is pulled all the way to the front and tuck it under the front edge of the louver opening. That should give you the extra inch.

Hi, we did a setup with some ribbons hanging in front of the top louver of a Pearl 3600 fireplace in the lab. With the previous blower models, there was very little change in the movement of the ribbons whether the blower was on or off. With the new HB9 running they stand almost horizontally from the airflow. There is a noticeable and significant improvement in airflow through the fireplace with the HB9 blower.

Yes! The insulated wall thimble is adjustable and fits walls from 4" to 10.5" thick.

@@FirewoodEnjoyer69 Hey, so the fireplace install was finally completed! Took a lot longer than we had hoped, but alas we will be ready come fall/winter. I will post up a video and link it here. We love it, and are very pleased we decided on this unit. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a compact into that can put out lots of heat and look great while doing it!

Clearance is dependent on the appliance rather than the venting components. The installation manual for your gas fireplace or stove will specify the clearance requirements. The insulated wall thimble is designed to help prevent heat loss from the home rather than improve clearance. It has been proven to reduce clearance on some appliances, but it will always be mentioned in the manual for the appliance if that is the case. I hope that helps.

Around the sides and top edge of the fire box refractory there is about a 1/4" (6mm) gap behind the glass. Intake air comes in from the back of the fire box and around the refractory wall to keep the soot of the glass, pushing the fire back and up the fire box.
