I am a collector of Military History. Especially American items from WW1. On my channel you will see my ever growing attempt at preserving the ones who came before and their stories. I do not support any extremist ideologies. All of the items I own relating to them are there to remind of the harm they have done.

This is probably the best grouping I've ever owned and am glad to be able to display it. My apologies for the lighting issues unfortunately there isn't a light close to the corner where I keep these things. Let me know if you'd like to see the other 2 named uniforms I've recently acquired.

Some more items I've been wanting to display. I was thinking of maybe doing a video on every WW1 uniform I have if anyone would be interested.

an informative video for newer collectors about the general details of US M1 helmets. Of course if I was incorrect about anything or if there's things you'd like to add then please let me know in the comments and I'll add a pinned comment with extra info. Thank you for watching and I hope this helps people.
Interesting video
Nice video
Congrats on your new additions

@rockinghammilitaryantiques3884 You're welcome
Some really nice stuff, especially the souvenir belt.
@@Hawker_Tempest thank you!
Cool stuff. I like the WW1 stuff also.
@@kennethreese4659 thank you! It's definitely my favorite period to collect
@rockinghammilitaryantiques3884 that hate belt is the best one I've ever seen. Awesome find on that.
@kennethreese4659 im very glad to be the new owner of it! The seller mentioned having one for sale and when he sent photos I was blown away
Nice additions to your collection. Congrats.

@rockinghammilitaryantiques3884 You're welcome
Hello. Amazing video. I found a helmet inside of an attic of one of my rental properties. Based on your video it is for sure a WW2 helmet (front seam) but the liner is Vietnam. The liner is also showing "MVIII" stamp. Do you know what that means? Thanks
@NaturebyGus hmmm unfortunately I don't think i know what it means. It is most likely a maker stamp but liner manufacturer doesn't really matter collecting-wise unless it is ww2
Awesome collection!
@yeetlolbruhmoment6843 thank you!
Nice items! Question regarding WW1 US helmets with unit painted insignia... What percentage of these were painted that way before Armistice? I've heard all sorts of stories and wanted your opinion.
@barneyfyfe8313 thank you! As for your question as far as I understand less than 1% of all helmets painted were done during wartime. There are very sparse photo examples of field applied camo and there are theories that certain divisions attached to the British would use identifying insignia on their helmets but that last one isn't confirmed. All the painted helmets you'll see are either done on occupation or the boat ride home. And the ones done on occupation were only certain regiments. Hopefully this helps a little bit
@@rockinghammilitaryantiques3884 Yes!!! Very helpful. I have one that I always figured was painted in the back room of the antique shop where I bought it. Definite repaint (gloss with black demarcation lines of the camo pattern ignoring the existing interruptions of the rough finish underneath. Inside is in very good condition with expected paint, liner and chinstrap. I can send photo if you'd like.
@barneyfyfe8313 im glad that my answer helped a bit! And absolutely i would love to see it. My Instagram account is in my about section
@@rockinghammilitaryantiques3884 Sorry, I don't do Instagram, Facebook, etc. Thanks anyway.
In case you were interested I found an exception to the rule. It appears that certain machine gun battalions were ordered to paint insignia on their helmets in March 1918. So around the time they would've been preparing for combat. They were very simple though. Like a green diamond or red star
Nice collection

Nice uniform.
Hi. Could you help me identify a helmet with a liner? Your video helped me a lot with my search and not to make a mistake and buy a European version. I am 99% sure I made the right choice but I would be happier if I could get confirmation from you.
@@numbsliwa sure you can send it over to me on my Instagram which is in my channel "about" section
@rockinghammilitaryantiques3884 ok. Let me take some pictures
I swear you have one of the best uniform collections on the platform. I wanna do the same sort of thing with British 2nd world war uniforms but they are so darned expensive
Thank you for the compliment! Yeah money is always the deciding factor but hopefully you get lucky
Beautiful uniform - thanks for sharing! 😊
Very Cool. As a member of the medical personnel, I think it's reasonable to assume that he wasn't in any of the charges / fighting (So I doubt he unalived the officer that he got the medals from). His job was likely to move patients around and possibly assist the doctors / nurses on the front lines that would do treosh / stabilize wounded soldiers enough so they could be sent to the hospitals at the rear (I have read and seen photos of US giving medical aid to wounded German soldiers; I suspect he may have gotten the medals off an officer that didn't survive).
@hondomurray7927 thank you for your input! As a member of the ammo train he definitely wouldn't have been in any attacks. Their job primarily being carting ammunition to the front. The main dangers for them would be shelling and gas but it's not impossible for them to have been caught up in a raid. I'm assuming that most if not all of the souvenirs were taken off dead German soldiers when the trains and rear soldiers were moving up captured areas of the german line after a successful attack
Excellent very informative
I also wanted to add... I read your channel description and I like how you mentioned that you collect as "a reminder of the harm they have done" ...I mention it because my daughter use to call me "a war lover" and I had to explain that I do NOT love or idolize war or violence; I collect because it's important to remember to honor the service and sacrifice they made so we could enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted. I think she understands now because she thanks soldiers for their service. :) I have 4 curios in our front room displaying my collections (1 for helmets and hats, 2 for WW1 uniforms, 1 for replicas of WW1-2 planes); as well as a mannequin displaying what a WW2 bomber crewman wore AND a bookshelf full of WW1-2 books (Side Note: I have a very supportive wife who encouraged me to display them... Which I have heard from other collectors is rare, because their wives won't let them do it. Lol).
@@hondomurray7927 sounds like you have a great collection! Thank you for the support
1st time viewer: I'm a collector of WW1-2 and I like how you went into more detail beyond the basic front & rear seams (how rear seams could have been made during the war but not many made onto the battlefield. Many people are under the false impression that none made it; altho, they found some "rear" seam helmets on the beach of Normandy). I also liked how you went into subtle differences of the stamps of the two companies who made them ("oval" = McCord, "small round" = Schluder) and that was just in the 1st (1/3) part of the video. I learned a lot. Thank you for making this and other videos to help educate people. I LIKE'd and Subscribed (and created and saved video to a playlist for easy future reference). I am lookimg forward to watching more of your videos. PS: I enjoy talking with other collectors, so feel free to say hello... facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008589428447&mibextid=ZbWKwL

Great video nice uniform display and I love the victory medals starting to collect them myself only got five so far.
@n.jmilitaria1642 thank you for the compliments! I really didn't mean to get into victory medal collecting myself but I enjoy the variety so much that I've ended up with lots of them. Have any special clasps?
@@rockinghammilitaryantiques3884 no not yet just pick them up when I get them for a decent price
I focus my YT channel on mostly WW1 and my militaria collection WW1 AEF so it is super cool to see what you got! I am increadbly jealous of that tank corps jacket and that six clasp victory medal!!! You have everything displayed so well too so I commend you on that, its not common for people to collect ww1 so its cool to see you share your collection.
@MilitaryHistoryUnveiled thank you very much for the compliments! I chose ww1 because the technology of the age fascinates me and I feel like it is still an unappreciated war to this day. Thank you for taking the time to look at my stuff I appreciate it
Awesome uniforms. Love the patches on them.

Great collection ! I have a fantastic collection of 18 Napoleonic French Grande Army brass buttons from various regiments. All found by metal detector in Belarus over the years, along the old routes to & from Moscow in 1812. These include a button of the 21st Regiment de Ligne (only a handful ever returned to France). A 'Sappers' Button from near the Berezina crossing & a Lions head French Hussars Sabre Buckle. I'm now about to frame these up in a presentation case. I love collecting.
@mickymantle3233 thank you! Sounds very cool I'm no expert on those older wars but theyre very interesting to learn about
@@rockinghammilitaryantiques3884 Yes, If you ever get the chance watch Napoleons retreat from Moscow 1812. I think it's on UA-cam. By the way - those uniforms are top notch. All the best.
Very nice ww1 collection, named and personalized items are always the best. Very nice Australian issued Lee Enfield, the D^ is a army stamp and the A^F is the air force stamp.
@Hawker_Tempest thank you much appreciated I definitely have a soft spot for any items that were personalized

Great video. Could I send you some pictures of the helmet I have? I think it’s a ww2 shell but a Vietnam liner. The liner has the dla 88 year or it’s an 83 year hard to tell. Or maybe I’m wrong on the shell.

Do you ever add some linseed oil to the leather just to preserve it and gun oil on the bayonets? Or you like to leave them salty?
I typically don't mess with items. I may clean stuff up or maybe gun oil for firearms and bayonets but I never treat leather. In the long run it probably just makes it deteriorate faster
@@rockinghammilitaryantiques3884 ko cho line is a great product for leather, and it wears off. but many collectors dont like to mess with stuff. and it depends on the item, but i am kinda an advocate for leather rehabilitation
Great video.... very informative....I'm from the UK and when I was very little I remember seeing American soldiers on TV and my mum telling me that America had just lost a war and were going home! To me, I couldn't believe John Wayne (who was America to me back then) could ever lose a war.....and my fascinating with that war and all the imagery and iconography, began. There was a shop, called the 'swap shop' which had bits of militaria that went as far back as the Hussars (honestly!)..... It had a Vietnam era M1 in the window....but being a little kid I couldn't afford it....and there was no way my hippy mum was gonna buy it for me! Well, sadly, that shop closed back in the 70's and my chance was lost.....until a surplus shop opened in my town and were selling a bunch of them.... I, of course, bought 2 🤭 but gave one away. I always suspected that they might be post Vietnam....and now you've confirmed it for me! Still, I love my M1.... Thanks for the information
Absolutely glad to help out! I also love the iconic shape of the M1 and im glad you were able to find some over there in the UK. From what I've heard theyre decently rare over there. Thank you for watching
@@rockinghammilitaryantiques3884 thank YOU for the video and great history about this iconic helmet! Yes, they are rare....I figure mine must've been when they were transitioning to the modern helmet and the M1 flooded the market. But, interestingly, after 'Band of Brothers' a lot of screen used helmets became available....a friend at work bought one online! Anyway, thanks again for the invaluable education 👍👍👍
Thank you for this video!! I just found out my beat up front seam is schlueter!!!!
You're welcome glad to help out
The brown one is from WW1.
Nice video
The brown k98 pouch is for the gewer 98 and it holds one extra stripper clip in each cell
Yes thank you I just had a mixup with the seller about which one I was supposed to get so I guess now I have to choose which one I like more and buy another
2 preguntas; porque la costura era frontal y luego trasera? y porque eran de acero no magnético?
Because they're were front seam helmets until the tale end of the war they switched from the front seam to the rear Because from my understanding that the helmets were easy about splitting or cracking where the seam met. On the stainless rim, the reason they changed to manganese steel is because the paint kept coming off of the stainless rim and that was an easy way to be spotted. I hope this helps answer your 2 questions
🔥🔥
guess i just picked up a pretty strange helmet shell has front seam and swivel bales but also has an 80s chinstrap pretty poorly put on liners pretty normal since its just a regular vietnam liner
Seems pretty standard for a reissue. Lots of ww2 helmets were used up until the M1 helmet was replaced. One of my first helmets ever was a late ww2 shell with 80s straps
I'm not a rich guy, and I don't care about what the "worth" of something is. I just like to be able to collect some history. For cheap! Good stuff, man.
Completely understandable and that's why I collect as well. I figured I'd throw it in there in case people wanted to know though
