Also I understand people especially young people trying to find and trace their ancestry. Objectively its important to fact-check the involvement of Arabia off the coast of Africa predates any settlements of the coast. Settlements off the coast were due to trade not resettlement. Arabs, Asians, and others we're not migrating to African regions to settle until European colonization and industrialization. Outside the slave trade emphasis on trade the Arbian, Asian, Persian, Indian traders were used the trade route through the red sea prior to the slave trades. There was existing coastal trade networks with Somalis trading it was not a no-mans land where merchants just created cities out of nowhere while the Somalis were isolated around them. This is the problem with this young mans narrative its not rooted in historical and archeological reality. These ancient coastal settlements/cities existed and pre-date non-African interactions for thousands of years. The bandir people adopted a creolized language of the bantu known as Swahili and other African languages particularly Somali. They also adopted their clan structure and naming convention. A population that is the dominant always forces inhabitants to adopt their language/culture that is non-existent in Somalia except when Africa was colonized. We do not see Omani/Persian/Indian colonization or expansion in Somalia and Mogdhusio isn't even proof. Its inhabitants non-Omani do not speak Arabic and are not culturally Swhaili/arab they only groups are the reminents of the traders left behind and their offspring. Minority colonizers always leave a strong foot print Oman has 0 foot print in Somalia as a empire/colonizer. These people are known as "the people of the port" they have no genealogical records except being a confederacy of the persian/arab/indian/turkic traders left behind who intermarried with the Swahili people. They ae a minority community that had 0 impact on the development of Somalia, Ethiopia, Djbouti and Ertirea. Its shame these men are pushing anti-african sentiments and anti-blackness to appease a false historic narrative.

This narrative is anti-african and colonial revisionism if these minorites want to relocate from Africa back to Oman or India they should they are genetically foreign to Africa. This would just cause further hostility in Africa to claim a settler colony in Africa especially by fierce majority pastoralists like the Somali

Somalis are 20 million in population and a population of under 100,000 controlled key ports? 0 historic proof of such that merchants overuled a Pasrol/Nomadic group that was also historically involved in Trade internationally for 1000+ prior to persian/indian/arab/swahilli interaction from Oman

Please explain what interest would a "pastoral nomad" have in a coastal area that consists of inarable land that is a mixture of rocky and sandy land? Your logic and sense of thinking is amusing. An archeologist will never speak like this, using statistical data that's been taken post 2000 to proof a claim for events that happened prior to colonisation is quiet absurd. So many contradictory statements from you that its appalling.

Also common sense wouldnt make sense that millions of ethnic Somalis allowed foreign population with no interior extension never created trade routes with Ethiiopia and Somalis but maintained a isolated port? Then Somalis came out of nowhere in 1900s to settle at Bandir? while inhabiting multiple coastal towns and cities all around by fierce tribal nomads?

Who are you, who is your association and what are your credentials, clearly you're a fraud or a liar or another somali troll merely based on your comments. Specialist my backfoot. Most archeologists in East Africa agree the Arab and Persian interaction for thousands of years, the recent archeological findings support this case and became a game changer, im surprised you're not aware of this. Your ignorance makes me doubt you are a specialist.

There is also continuity from Zeila to Kismayo to Bossaso all northern territories even stretching to Ertirea of indigenous peoples with costal towns and ports with little to no arab/indian merchant settlers with identical infrastructure. Its quiet sad they wan to use anti-blackness to create a primitive narrative on indigenous east africans who have built pre-Arab invasion of that region.

Genetically the populations of the Bandir are a minority of Persian/Indian/Bantu/Swahili/Arab settlers who mixed there's actually NO MATERNAL- FEMALE LINES- Genetically showing that it was a recent migration in the last 300-600 years of settlement in these regions of Somalia. Yes they are foreigner settlers who lived among the indigenous Somali ethnic groups in that region and was never a territory built from the ground up alone by these merchant travelers in Somalia. So claiming they built cities on the coast by Omanis is invalid and historically inaccurate. 0 archaeological, historical and genetic proof of such since they are RECENT SETTLERS of an existing region

Fantastic. Oman is known in Somalia. Islam reached in Mogadishu 1,100 years ago. It is a very long and rich history, unfortunately, many Banadiri people left Somalía in 1991 and mostly settled in Kenya,Europe, the gulf Arab countries and north America.

Are we going to forget the Somali tradesman from the northeastern region that settled in Salalah Oman and now officially part of Dhofar (ظفار) people dating back since the 15th century. Go to Salalah and the check the local peoples ID cards they claim lineage to Somalia even though their great great grandfathers were born in Oman. Google + chatgpt is free. These are official Dhofar tribes in Salalah that have direct Somali origin: Al-Dhubyani (Dhulbahante) الذُبَيْاني Ali Suleiman (Majeerteen) علي سليمان Al-Barami (Bah-Reem, Darod or Dir) البرامي Al-Mahri (Mahra/Yemen or Darod/Dir connections) المهري Al-Akhdar (Isaaq or Somali trade connections) الأخضر Al-Shahri (Possible Somali links, though mainly indigenous) الشحري

Omani and Banaadiri: two brotherly peoples who are rediscovering and re-evaluating the ancient historical, cultural, military and political bond that has always united them and that inexplicably is not reported in most history books. Thanks to the young people of the Anglo-Banaadiri diaspora of The Banadir Factor (especially Abdulrahman Said) this bond is being revived. Only a few know that over two centuries of domination (begun in 1497), destruction and massacres by the Portuguese in the Banaadir and all the coasts of the Indian Ocean, were put to an end in 1730, thanks only to the intervention of the Omani brothers who managed to put together a formidable army of Omanis, Baluchis and Yemenis, with financing from Indian traders linked to Oman and chased the Portuguese up to Cape Delgado. The Banaadir, freed from these ferocious colonizers who destroyed the entire trade network of the coastal countries of the Indian Ocean, began to revive towards the end of 1700. We owe a lot to the Omanis and it is good that young people know this because lately there is a proliferation of people who do everything to pit one against the other, peoples who have always been brothers. Excellent idea of Abdulrahman to ensure that a digital library is created so that Banaadiri and Somali researchers can delve into the history of Oman while staying at home. Indeed, I would add that it would be better to create - as soon as possible - an Omani cultural center in Mogadishu. Finally, we hope that Garesa will be built quickly because it is located in the heart of the medieval center of Mogadishu - between the neighborhoods of Hamarweyne and Shingaani - and where a few steps away there is the headquarters of the Benaadir Regional Administration, the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance and it is one of the safest places in the capital. The time of the locusts is over and in any case the citizens have learned their lesson.

This video was a v good watch mashallah, touched on history, culture. Loved the emphasis on raising awareness of the banaadiri situation and not allowing our people to be taken advantage of, especially if political ties with oman strengthen. Nice to see the distinction made between the tribalist old heads/warlords and rather putting focus on the positive Somali youth who are trying to move past the primitive qabiil politics also a nice way to dismiss the trolls & chronically online. Hope to see more of this type of discussion and open dialogue free of animosity and geared towards collectively protecting the future of Somalia, by coastal, nomadic & brotherly nations alike. Somalia ha is raacdo, somalia ha noolato.

Because they don’t want banadiri to self identify themselves. They on purpose destroy our history and identity. Politically discriminating and committed war crimes. We banadiri are a confederation of different tribes. Most of us are from Arab origin. There are major tribes who are ba alawi, al amoudi, al-maqzoumi and etc. We have protected our lineages through generations. We won’t let these haters try to erase our identity and history.

Oman use to pay taxes to the Somali, when they didn’t the Sultanate of the Geledi sent 20,000 men and destroyed the Omanis, freed the African slaves they had and held captive the remaining Omanis in 1852 or 1853 I believe. This is real history not this fake tales they tell.

Stop spreading historical misinformation. If you are going to speak on Somalia history, bring people that are well educated on the topic .Not those that have a clear agenda to spread misinformation about somali history . As a way of coping with the discrimination, racism and abuse that they faced in somalia. Academic dishonesty is unacceptable as a muslim and the pathetic attempt to distort a fellow muslim nations history is shameful.

Someone discussing their own history is not something that is haram! I would welcome all Somalis to share their history. I would particularly appreciate it if an Isaaq were to elaborate on their seafaring history and the coastal towns that once thrived, such as Karin, Xiis, Buulo Haar, Berbera, and others. I would also be keen to hear a Majerteen delve into the details of all their coastal towns throughout the Bari region. It feels quite disingenuous to equate the history of all Somalis solely with these historical Banaadiri towns of Mogadishu, Jaziira, Gendershe, Jilib Marka, and Barawa. The history of Somalia is far broader than that.

@@abubakarmohamed5497 Own history ? The banadir region is ethnic somali territory and the facts that a small influx of immigrants /refugees were welcomed by the southern somali tribes and settled there should not be referred to as the history of banadir . Yes It is part of it and no I don't have any issues with people speaking on their experience and contributions to the region , however making inaccurate historical claims is haram if it is being done intentionally/knowingly. If they are uneducated on the full and accurate history of the region then bring someone that is instead of spreading misinformation.

The Arabs, which you want to be included, told you a lie and the only place in Africa Oman has ever been is Zanzibar. There's no primary evidence to prove sofala being named by somalis, other than knit picked sources from wikipedia. What we do know according to chronicles of Kilwa and kitab az zanj is when people from Mogadishu use to extract resources from Sofala was during the reign of the Muzaffer, and Sultanate of Mogadishu, and it is 100% historically proven that these ruling dynasties were Arab in origin as seen in their nisba and inscriptions on the masajids they built in Mogadishu. Before you spew your rubbish, tell us the names of the Somali sultans or travelars who even went to sofaa? who were the rulers? what evidence do you have of their rule or existence? any archeological history such as grave or mosque they left behind? we have plenty for the Arab existence from 14 century onwards which you Somalis tried to destroy.

Sofala, historically known as Rio de Sofala, was a prominent trading hub with roots tracing back to around 700 CE. By 915, Arab merchants had started visiting the coast, followed by Persian traders. Its strategic location by the Buzi River connected Sofala to the internal trade network, reaching the market town of Manica and ultimately the goldfields of Great Zimbabwe. This riverine link was crucial in establishing Sofala as a major trading post. Sometime in the 10th century, Sofala evolved into a small yet significant trading post established by the seafarers from Mogadishu the Merchants from the city (It never mention the Somalis) the modern-day Somalia. These merchants facilitated trade, primarily exchanging cotton cloth for gold and ivory. By the 1180s, Sultan Suleiman Hassan of Kilwa (present-day Tanzania) seized control of Sofala, integrating it into the Kilwa Sultanate and bringing it under the influence of the Swahili cultural sphere. Under Swahili control, Sofala's trading infrastructure expanded significantly. The Swahili traders enhanced the port's capacity by utilizing river-going vessels along the Buzi and Save rivers to transport gold from the hinterlands to the coast, solidifying Sofala's reputation as a key link in the regional and international trade networks of the time.
