Kasia Wilk Wasick Is Not Slowing Down Episode 212
Five Olympics and counting!
Sprint master Kasia Wilk Wasick returns for another episode to catch us up on the World Cup, where she took the crown for winning the 50m Freestyle at all 3 stops and in the process dialed in her short course race execution that she will carry in the upcoming Short Course World Championships in Budapest.
Kasia also shares her experience at the Paris Olympics, where she hoped to win a medal following her bronze medal performance and first time under 24 seconds at the World Championships earlier in the year. The disappointment of not achieving the goal is one many athletes and all humans can relate to, and Kasia provides a great example of how to use those times and benefit from them, as it forced her to reflect on why she swims and to realize the results are only one part of the joy she gets from being an elite competitive swimmer.
Kasia is yet another example of elite athletes peaking into their 30s and has no plans to slow down, telling us maybe she has 8 total Olympics to her name when all is said and done.
0:00 - 4:30 - Bryan and John welcome back Kasia Wilk-Wasick
4:30 - 19:15 Kasia reflects on her 2024 Paris Olympics
19:15 - 31:25 Kasia discusses the 2024 Swimming World Cup
31:25 - 46:11 Kasia shares her training
46:11 - 51:34 Kasia talks about her move to Dallas
51:34 - Rapid fire

The cap is wild 🧢
🗿
Their head is not moving with very little swing. Caeleb rotated a little more but they are still very similar
That extra stroke can kill you sometimes. Gotta just drive into the wall
That looks fun and horrible at the same timw
She needs to be talked about more. Inspirational
Ilya keep up the good work! I am the old Nam vet that is at most Sun Devil home meets
Good work going to dual meets, grab a beer for us!
Je l'avais approchée en juin dernier aux Citi World Para Swimming World Series 🏊 à Limoges où je vis !!! I approached her in last June in the Citi World Para Swimming World Series 🏊 in Limoges where I live !!!
they are both fast
So fast!
great interview
Thanks!
I mean, that's the reason we do sport, to be better and better each day. It motivates us
Very true
bro 9x200fly on 2:15 is DIABOLICAL
That's nuts. I'd take up bowling or scrabble.
Yea...
Hey @tedking1, swimming needs @untappedmaple!!! 16:00
I am missing some background? Is fine the mark?
Sorry I may be missing something, what do you mean by fine?
Is there some reason she feels the need to explain herself to these non-athletes?
yea, I think so as she is often asked by non-athletes.
Definitely the sprinter who still has more in the tank Him and liendo heilman
Going to be a great race!
Greatest ncaa comeback after a not that bad season last year
It's a great start to it, excited to see what NCAAs has in store
Chad and Cameron Both Coached by lange 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪
Thanks for the info!
Nice job 👍🏻
Hope you liked it!
That’s insane
Insane!
Oh dear lord someone just went faster than peak Dressel. What has this sport become.
Yes, but Dressel was usually doing breaststroke on their medley relays, he might have been an 18.5 if he did it!
@ Imagine if he had done fly
@@SocialKickSwimI forgot dressel was a 50. 100 breaststroker
As a Masters swimmer, I can only count up to 3k.
That's plenty :)
Go Noè Ponti Hopp Schwyz🇨🇭ich Fan dich immer an du bist mein einzig wahrer Schwimmer
👏👏👏
Australia are fabulous for showing the emotional side with their family and loved ones.
Very true 👏
Kristóf Milák’s 100 fly is something else! His underwater kicks are explosive, his stroke is effortless yet powerful, and he maintains incredible tempo throughout. That final surge to the wall? Pure dominance.
An amazing swimmer
Caeleb Dressel’s start is honestly one of the best parts of his race. The way he explodes off the blocks with so much power and precision is insane. You can tell he’s worked on every tiny detail-his reaction time is lightning fast, and the amount of force he generates with his legs is just ridiculous. Then, as soon as he hits the water, it’s like he’s still flying because his entry is so clean, with barely any splash. And don’t even get me started on his underwater phase-those dolphin kicks are a masterclass in speed and efficiency. It’s not just how strong they are but how controlled and perfectly timed each kick is, keeping his momentum without wasting energy. By the time he breaks out into his stroke, he’s already way ahead of the field. It’s like watching an explosive chain reaction, perfectly executed every single time. That start gives him such a huge edge, especially in sprints where every millisecond matters. Absolute monster.
👏 Great points and certainly a monster!
I’m only 12 and I’m size 15 shoe and I’m 6’2
Wow!
I’m only 13 and I’m size 14 shoe and I’m 6’1
!!
Ha I'm 14 and my feet are that size😂
😂
I think 1:25 is possible, but I’m guessing it’ll take until 2040-2060 to get there with our current suits. If they invent a way faster suit or have full body suits humans could get there sooner. However, I see a 1:27.9 happening sometime within now and the next 10 years
I hope so! Those times are so fast!
She definitely is! It'll be interesting watching Douglass' career though, especially after that massive WR 👀
Very true, I would love to see Douglass swim the 100 breast at SC Worlds too! - John
Absolutely FANTASTIC quote, very inspiring. 🔥🔥
Agreed!
Such a great episode! John Masson was fantastic, and I loved his energy and his hair is real 😂
Thanks, we had a good time, he was great and has great hair!
💀
...
This obviously worked out in hindsight!
Yea, it really did
Elaborate more pls ,instructions unclear both free and fly starts
You should do dolphin kick until you surface, as fly kick is faster than flutter kick and helps with transition.
why I don't want to be a distance swimmer:
Haha, you're not alone.
Amazing 🎉 .
She's unreal!
Imagine a 1600 medley as an individual event 😂
😂😂😂
start kicking on free style of backstroke only when you are close to the surface - not earlier - thats the point here as I understood .
That's the key!
Great interview! His information on turns especially helped me, I've noticed while watching videos of my current pb that my competitors got a small lead on me during turns. I'll think about it during practice! Thanks.
Awesome! Hope it helps with your next race!
This is from an available interview?
Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/vJDD1KI8bos/v-deo.html
Make more of these
Will do!
Didn't get it
Kick all the way to the surface
Alright Keaton, time for some underwaters !!
haha
That’s cold as hell
soooo cold
I am French, we love Leon for his performances but above all for his courage and his kind, sincere and humble personality
Very true!
@@SocialKickSwim Thank you for him !🙏High-level careers are difficult at all levels, I hope it will be okay for him.
200fr 1:42.00 has my vote for the hardest. Pan could do it.
Yea killer record...we will see if Pan can do it, hope he gives it a shot!
I think right now Popovici is the only one who could get close to it
@@plundergebaeck I totally agree
I love to swim backstroke, my favorite stroke ❤
❤❤
🧢
yea? I believe it - John
