Rex Maurer Rocketing American Record Holder Episode 217
Переглядів 1,2 тис.14 днів тому
So that’s a thing now. Rex Maurer has shown the world that even college-aged swimmers can drop nearly 7 seconds in their best event as if he hit a growth spurt. Maybe he did. The Texas sophomore is only a summer and fall semester into his time in Austin following his transfer from Stanford where he had a solid freshman year. But this Longhorn mid-distance crew is different. It is stacked with h...

Gotta be summers 400 im
Aussie everytime !
Phelps for sure
Awesome podcast. Love hearing from the swimmers: their sets, the technique, everything. It's fun to see them more as real people and you guys are amazing hosts!
All iconic and generational swims. Hard to choose but Pan cuz it's the 100 free.
Yea, lots of good swims, but I agree! - John
Great podcast as usual, gents! Cheers and happy new year!
Thanks for listening! Appreciate it!
Maybe with Andrew’s switch to training at ASU he can surge back to make the world championship team and keep his speed through the 100
Yea, excited to see him during this transitional period!
Who will finish off the lcm super suit records?
.... hard to say, who do you have?
First
Boom!
I think Marchand's 500 was beyond amazing, but both Crooks and Pan won their sprints by a body length against the best in the world. I can't decide...
I can't pick just one!!!
Bro my pr in 200 is 2:20
...just keep getting better!
@@SocialKickSwimbut my 100 free is 1:01 and my 50 is 27
46.4 is just unbelievable imo… in an Olympic final too
#facts
That's so hard to decide! I think I'll go with Pan Zhanle tho, that swim absolutely blew my mind when I watched it live
Yea, mind blowing
I think my favourite race of all time might have to be the women’s 200 free at Aussie trials. Absolute insanity.
Yea, great one! Our American minds overlooked that, but what a battle
My fave has to be Sarah 100 free at the Olympics
Yea, that was a great one and a shocker!
❤yeah, im an artist. Thank you. But wheres the Rocket Missel ? I dont know. 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
😅
I love these episodes, teach me so much about swimming, and help me love the sport so much more! Keep it up!
Thanks for the comment and glad you like them!
A few omissions of course, but in the time allotted, could you have done otherwise as this year 2024 was so eventful? We think it would be a little unfair not to mention the superb Mollie O'Callaghan who we adore. And how can we forget this unique moment when Summer McIntosh was the first to defeat the prodigious Katie Ledecky since... on her legendary distance? And thank you again for your great podcasts.
Thanks for the kind words and we certainly left some off the list, like MOC! 2024 so eventful, Olympic year? Leon is NCAA system? Elite swimmers actually swimming SCM world champs? Some combination of these? - John
@@SocialKickSwim IF... What a dystopia in the History of Swimming IF Summer McIntosh had run and won the 800 at the Olympics by breaking the unbroken (or almost) great history of Katie Ledecky over her queen distance. So much the better that she was content with her unforgettable victory over 200 medleys, Summer who respects Katie so much who is her idol and her model since her childhood, because breaking the flamboyant trajectory of the immense American could then have had a bitter taste , a victory that the swimming world would not have forgiven her, perhaps. "With much IF, we would put Paris (2024) in a bottle", they say in France.
I watch/listen to pretty much everything that you guys do. I like your free form format and also your going back to your experiences and talking about them in the context of what we are seeing today. I am still swimming at 62 and have been involved with it my whole life as a swimmer, a swim parent, and a volunteer at the local high school running the timing console, and also interacting with those coaches as a "stroke/strategy analyst" (as they describe me). So pretty much everything that you guys talk about is meaningful to me as a viewer because my goal is to always keep learning, and your channel does exactly that. Love it. Happy New Year! Be good and be safe. Later gators vs
Thanks for the kind words and appreciate hearing your perspective. Thanks for doing so much for the swimming community and be good and safe too! - John
Hello
Hi!
That is fully my cousin. I’m so serious right now.
Cool!
Pan Zhanle was a distance swimmer before May 2021 and had won many medals in the 800m and 1500m. He started competing in the 1500m free from age 13. (2017 Asian Age Group Championships ). He still trains 15,000m per day to maintain his aerobic capacity. Actually, he got the Paris Olympic A-cut in the 400m free, but he had to compete in 4 relay events, so he gave up it.
Thanks for the details!
Wait is it a 50 or 100 fly😅 im confuse
:) 50 fly
19.90 is genuinely baffling
Yea, insane
Thank you for doing this video! As a parent of a young USA Swimmer, it feels good to learn about these Greats who paved the way!
Welcome and glad you enjoyed it! There needs to be more spotlight on these things and we hope to do our small part! - John
Mine was 35 this week and I’m scared
...
He’s gonna give me a 1 hour practice 😆
😆
Yeah
yea, no fun
He laped Cal swimers like nothing hahahaha
Yea, wild!
also i know rylee
Nice!
yo the last pool is where my team is
Nice!
the one who did it in long course
Long course seems to be regarded as much higher
Was that Gretchen Walsh? Next to her)
That’s what I thought. Just the face and goggles made me think that.
Sure is, that was from Olympic Trials
Seriously?
Yep, what do you think :)
Greatest sprint swimmer vs greatest distance swimmer, can’t really compare them
Not sure Phelps wants to be labeled a distance swimmer
Plz don’t insult my glorious king Phelps by comparison to Gretchen Walsh again!
haha
Mine is 37😢 but I’m still in elementary school Is that good?
Keep working on it!
Doesn’t Phelps have 23 gold medals 😐
Yes, but 8 of them in one olympic, a world record.
Pretty amazing
Im a swimmer but i have never heard negative split? Can someone explain
Go backwards
Negative split means you swim faster as your race progresses.
second half of the rep needs to be faster than the first half
Thank you!
This has to be rage bait
We think it is a valid question, where would you rank Gretchen's World Champ performance on the all-time list?
🐐
:)
Olympic racing trumps any other competition for swimming.
🔥
I'd argue world aquatics long course, u got the best swimmers from the WHOLE WORLD rather than the less that compete within the Olympics
my son
...
Not really comparable
Maybe you're right🤷♂️
His torso is so long
Very long!
what should I draw? Commenting this on all the vids I see
Ok...
Éléphant
Both Great but Phelps Like 101%phelps
We hear you, Phelps is amazing
It is swimming wtf cares.
🤷♂️
your youtube banner shows a map of a flat earth , so idk if your opinions can be valued
G-Money
Haven't heard that nickname, nice!
SCM!!
That's true
