Pin and Lock Prosthetic Struggles: A Journey to the Perfect Fit
In this video, I share the challenges I faced with my pin and lock prosthetic system. It's a journey that many aren't prepared for, but I'm here to share it all - the struggles, the solutions, and the triumphs.
Last Sunday, I spent a grueling four hours trying to fit my prosthetic, a task that led to not just frustration but also physical injury. It was a moment of real struggle, a testament to the often unspoken hardships of adapting to a prosthetic limb.
But, there's a silver lining! In this video, I'm not just sharing my difficulties; I'm also showing you an alternative way to put on a pin and lock prosthetic. This method, though not conventional, might just be the solution for those who find the standard approach challenging.
Whether you're a fellow amputee, a caregiver, or just someone curious about the world of prosthetics, this video offers insight, guidance, and a message of perseverance. I'm here to tell you that it's okay to struggle, and more importantly, it's okay to find your own way of doing things.
Join me as I navigate these hurdles, offering tips and encouragement for anyone who might be walking a similar path. And don’t forget to share your own experiences in the comments - let's support each other in our unique journeys.
Remember to like, share, and subscribe for more insights into life with a prosthetic and the journey of adapting and overcoming.

I have one now :) I just need to make a new video
Why did you have an amputation.
My other video explains everything. ua-cam.com/video/TSUfMBhbXPQ/v-deo.html
I have the same problem
I will say that after about a month and a half out, I don't have any nerve pain. I strongly believe this has to do with the targeted muscle reinnervation surgery they did at the same time as my amputation.
얼굴이뻐요❤❤❤❤
Thank you
love you ❤
do you use crutches at night
I don't. I use my wheelchair right now as I can get extremely dizzy at night and don't want to risk falling. As I get better with my prosthetic, I'm going to use that more frequently at night.
Dilaudid + ibuprofen + cyclobenzaprine + gabapentin works for me. When it doesn’t, off to the ER for IV dilaudid. Find a doctor who understands PAIN, not just as a concept. Read V S Ramachandran’s books, especially “phantoms in the brain”. Good luck.
Hi, I have just watched your videos and that was a terrible story with your accident and the resulting amputation of your leg 😢 I can imagine that there is a terrible pain involved with such an amputation 😞 I will cross my fingers that the pain will decrease with time and that you will get used to the missing leg 🤞🙂👍 I wish you a nice weekend 🙂👍
Thank you 😊 My pain has actually gotten a lot better. Now, the only pain is from my leg getting used to my prosthetic.
@@PhoenyxRisesFromTheAshes I’m glad to hear that it”s better with your nerve pain now 🙂👍 I can imagine that a prosthesis can cause a lot of pain and problems when you’re not used to wearing one 😞 For how long have you had the prosthesis now? I will cross my fingers for improvements 🤞🙂👍 By the way, I’m Jesper from Denmark 🙂 I hope that everything will work out nicely for you and that you and your family will have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🙂👍🎄☃️🎅🏻🎊🎉
I've had my prosthetic since the end of December 2023. It's working out so much better with no pain at all. 🎉
@@PhoenyxRisesFromTheAshes I’m glad to hear that it’s going great with the prosthesis 🙂👍 You have got used to wearing it very fast and that’s nice 🙂 You hear a lot of problems with pain and skin problems with blisters and so, so it seems like you have been very lucky with no problems at all 🙂👍 I wish you a nice day 🙂👍
There are several ways to control pain A - a TENS machine - gives small electric pulses to the spine with sticky pad on the back B - Accupuncture is used in hospitals if other methods are not possible - Yes, the needles do reduce pain. C- Hypnotherapy is used in hospitals if the patient is allergic to pharmaceutical anesthetics. This has proved to be very effective and can eliminate pain altogether. A TENS machine is quite low cost, about £20. You control the strength and frequency of the electric pulses until you find the best setting. A recognized qualified Accupuncturist will do a very good job, I know from personal experience. I also have had many sessions of Hypnotherapy, well worth it I trust this helps you move on to a painnfree life. Take good care. Dr David Whitaker Ph.D P.N.L.P
There are various ways to deal with pain Try a TENS machine- gives small electric pulses to block nerves in the spine, small sticky pads on the back Hypnotherapy Analgesia has been used in hospitals where people are allergic to drugs. Acupuncture is a very good way of controlling pain. So 3 things to try - 1 - TENS machine - cost around $20. 2 - Hypnotherapy 3 - Acupuncture I hope this helps you Dr David Whitaker Ph.D P.N.L.P
I have tried the TENS machine and hypnotherapy with no success. I've never tried acupuncture, but I would like to. Thankfully, the pain is near null thanks to my TMR surgery.
Guess the normal route would have been safer 😢
Maybe. But I'm really happy with how my life has turned out since. So if give the chance, I don't think I'd change it. 🤔
Hugs and Prayers for you...
Thank you for sharing your experience!! ❤❤❤
Your strength is so inspiring. I hope that you are able to move forward and achieve everything you want in life.
Thank you so much! I just want to inspire and connect with others who may be going through something similar so they know they're not alone and are capable of doing hard things.
So, how long ago was the accident? And your amputation was recent? Are you getting a prosthetic leg/foot? Ty for sharing!
The accident was Christmas 2016. The amputation was November 1, 2023. But there were 14 surgeries in between to try and salvage it. I go for my first prosthetic appointment and fitting December 7th as long as there are no complications between now and then 🤞
How are you getting around
Right now, I am using a combination of my walker and wheelchair. Using whichever works for my pain that day. I've been much speedier and have done more since I utilized the wheelchair today 😊
Stay strong you are going to make it.
You’re so brave. Best wishes for your future. Xx
Thank you so much 💙
Did you ever use crutches
I did, but I am terrible with them. I've practiced so much over the years, but I still launch myself forward every time. Like catapult style. So I use a walker when I need to.
you will be allright.
❤️🙏❤️
