For anyone who may be still listening out there, "Sportster knee" from Ironhead days, was "always" caused by riders who did not know what they were doing. I rode kickstart models for many years, and never got "Sportster knee", because an old timer clued me in when I was new to it. And I listened. There's 3 things to this... You 'MUST' keep your bike 'tuned properly'. That means carb jetted corectly, points in proper adjustment, and tappets adjusted. If you ride to work daily, you should be adjusting & lubing your points once every month or two. If you don't, it will become a chore to start it, needing 'multiple kicks, & ample cussing.' It' s 'your fault'. E-Starts will still start fine out of adjustment to quite a degree, but not a "CH" ! Also, it's best to adjust the tappets at the same time you do the points, for max ease of kick starting. If you don't want to fool with it, you bought the wrong bike. Sell it & go buy a honda. Do those things & you should not have to kick it more than 3 times to start it... 5 times & you should stop kicking & look for the problem. There is one. (provided you primed properly) Ok, SECOND... when you pump it up on compression, 'never take your weight off the pedal again !' Almost everyone lifts their weight off the pedal when beginning to come down on the kicker pedal - "THERE'S THE PROBLEM !!" Train yourself NOT TO DO THAT ! Thats when the kicker gears disengage, & when you come down on it, there' s nothing there ! OR if it's kicking back, it's either TOO ADVANCED, or TOO LEAN ! When you set the timing, just put the mark on the flywheel right in the 'middle of the hole' , for best starting, etc. THIRD- Train yourself to NEVER LOCK YOUR KNEE when you come down on the kick pedal... Aways keep your knee bent just a little ! If it falls through, or kicks back , you won't fuck up your knee ! This info was shared freely with me by a great Sportster builder & racer named Sportster Tom Whiteman, and now he has given it to you as well. It has served me well for 50 years. He passed away 2 winters ago on New Years Eve. Spread the wealth as you go through life. Thats what he did.
Do u know anyone that makes these for honda 750cb
Do you make these for a honda750f
starting off with The Sword okay okayyyy
I purchased these led sled floor boards about 2 years ago for my 2008 1200 nightster and i love them! They are fixed which is the only down side. It would be nice to flip them up from time to time. My bike had forward pegs/controls and got tired of my feet always wanting to slide off at higher speeds. With the boards my feet were much more stable and i have like three different feet/leg positions. I'm also 5'5. And as a newer rider at the time they helped improve my riding ability with my feet feeling way more stable. Also way more comfortable.
Will I need longer bolts to install the behind the leg kit to the primary??
Now thats a SICK CHOPPER!!!!! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
the sword! nice
❤
Nice bike
Tryna order a set....apparently you only deal with paypal? Take my money!!!
I feel like you filmed this on a flip phone
The bike looks & sounds good, a very clean ride. Congratulations! Growing up in the early 60s and 70s, I hung around older boys from my neighbourhood who were chopping down Harley trikes and side cars (bought at police auctions & army surplus). Many of those chopped bikes had a foot (rocket type) clutch, a hand shifter (3 forward & reverse 😎) usually on/by the gas tank. Rigid frame and a kicker of course. Now, if you want to use the term ‘suicide clutch’ rightly, you have to have these 4 things on a motorcycle: 1) 2 wheels (no side car or trike) 2) A ‘foot clutch’ (not the rocker) 3) A ‘hand shift’ 4) NO FRONT BRAKES My own ride is a custom built (2008), with a softail chopper frame (Rolling Thunder), an S & S shovelhead (93ci) with a foot clutch and a jockey shift and a front (disc) brake, NOT a true ‘suicide clutch’ set up. Having a ‘foot clutch’ & a ‘hand shift’, doesn’t make it a ‘suicide clutch’, sorry. Some even call that set up a ‘suicide shifter’. I saw a product called a ‘suicide shifter’. The clutch lever is on the shifter (stick) instead of handle bar. Not cool and dangerous at low speed in first gear… There is nothing suicidal about a hand shift/foot clutch combination if you have brakes on the front wheel. The ‘rocker foot clutch’ is something else but basically the same. Some like it better. The reason it’s called a ‘suicide clutch’, is because with this set up, the rider can't stop on an upward incline for a street light, a stop sign or for any other reasons unless he has a buddy riding along behind who would put his front tire against your rear wheel to hold your motorcycle from rolling back. Hand shifting a motorcycle is not dangerous or that difficult and it’s ‘cool’, I love mine, but without front brakes, it could be ‘tricky’ at times to say the least. I lived through those times and it’s just my opinion and there’s probably more to it. You can call it whatever you want, it’s your ride.😎
Nice video about installing a foot clutch with a cable, but you should investigate the ‘hydraulic’ foot clutch control, it’s a good option. By the way, your set up is not a jokey shift, you should know better… Cheers…😎
Fugazi in the back “my time is water down the drain “🙂
Does it still have the electric start with that kit?
Yes
Does this work for the 2015 72 HD sportster
I would like to do this with an automatic clutch
Would this work on an 04 883?
i can install for my 48 date 2019 to day?
Subbed cause you used Kyuss in the background 🤘
Can you put a kicker on the baker 6 speed?
Fuggin nice
Why in the monkey sh...it would u do that🤦
Bonjour quel prix pour un kit ? Sportster 1994 ! Merci
THAT. IS COOL. I'm only nervous about cutting the clutch cable, then re-inserting it into the casing end. wow, Thanks man !
Fugazi waiting room
So I'm a potential new customer, Ledsled, my question is what is the difference between this kit and the eBay kit? .. Thanks!!
Please excuse the stupid question. Can this be done on a 2017 Sporty? Mine's been sitting at the dealership since early May waiting for a back ordered part, if I had a kickstart all would be fine.
Can users 2011 HD 883r
That's a tank shifter not a Jockey shifter
Kyuss 🤟🤟🤟🤟
Kyuss!
I love how Kyuss is playing lightly in the background
Y'all still sale these?
i want the sporster 883 2014 i use the kick start, can you help her?
This floorboards fixed firmly? They are not turnable, rotatable?
Yes
man I'm spoiled by the HD videos these days.
I bought one of there back when fun kit but for the price it should come with a cable you don't have to cut up being motion pro will make you a nice one for 28 buck and shifter should be threaded for a regular nob so when the set screw vibrates loos and it goes flying you can screw a new cool nob of choice on then it would be a good value for those who can't cut and weld metal if your cheap you can build one for 50 bucks lol
I've heard horror stories about the aluminum parts wearing out quickly on the it. What kind of warranty does this thing come with?
Led Sled Says It is a Lifetime warranty in its advertisements and Video's.
KYUSS. This took me back! Thanks from Sydney Australia. 🇺🇸 🇦🇺 TRUMP 2020!
How do you get the clutch to spring back can't seem to get mine to do it
Great vid. Noticed one inch man as audio. Perfect.
I’m glad not to be the only one to notice that
I would love to have a kickstart on my sporty just like i used to have one on a shovelhead that i had in the past but what turn me off about this kick start kit is the lack of a relocation mount for the 91-03 sportster.
Call led sled. They have a relocation bracket that mounts to the cam cover. Use a front brake line to get rid of the stock metal brake line and use a wired banjo bolt set up to give your bike the electrical brake signal. See tc bros or lowbrow for that set up. I have this kit installed on my 01 sporty. Did it muself in my garage. Order a mid control brake rod..i run foward controls and set up works perfectly. The kit also comes with the pedal. Says it doesnt ln the website but mine came with one.
What did you do with the rear master cylinder?
I called ledsledcustoms- they make a relocation bracket so it mounts under the timing cover. You have to find a mid-control brake rod, revise the brake lines, & powder coat or paint the bracket.
Ya I used led sled relocation bracket that mounts to the cam cover. Then I used my old front brake line to get rid of the stock metal brake line. I ordered a mid control brake rod through Harley and works nicely. The stock brake line runs into a solenoid for your electrical brake signal but now places like tc bros and lowbrow sell banjo bolts that have wires that give that electrical signal straight from the master cylinder. Really easy to install.
Bro you should be a professor, love it
