A goal against Sweden in the group stages of the World Cup, where England were lucky to get a draw. A last gasp goal against Greece, to scratch another draw, and qualify for the 2002 World Cup. A goal against Argentina in the last 16, in a match which England would eventually lose. A goal against Brazil in a match which England actually went on to win - but was a meaningless friendly. A goal against Scotland in the 1996 Euros. Not exactly the merit list of a supposed great footballing "superpower". 🤣
Even I seen what Gazza was going to do,Jesus had we not seen this in the training days growing up ?? And as for Becks,he’d have been better off missing when the WC draw was made ?? Some myths grow legs…
NO PLATT WTF !?
How can a goal against Scotland, no matter how good, be number one?
No Bobby Charlton goal ?, plus John Barnes goal was in a friendly.
And look at the trash we have today can’t even beat Greece or Iceland also hungry 😂
Hurst 3rd goal 1966, Gasgoine 1996, Beckham as shown, Owen as shown, Dier pen vs Columbia.
nice video but why dub the crappy music over it?
The first Joe Cole goal , ruthless celebrating - they could've injured Hargreaves
The thing with gazza's one, sheer genius. I still don't know how he knows Hendry is there to flick it over is head, he doesn't look. Marvellous
John Barnes for me..
You knew what the reaction would be as soon as you posted. But thanks for posting anyway. Here's my bit....Any goal against the Scotch is a brilliant goal, the rest are very good indeed.
Under the circumstances, Beckhams free kick is number 1.
Shame about the image quality
Platt's v Belgium - pure magic but Owen v Argentina was the one we all loved the best.
Group games and friendlies??
Graeme le Saux v Brazil also a contender
Inglaterra
And not any goals from the 1966 World Cup . When they won it typical English Media snobbery .
Trevor Brooking 1981 must win qualifier v Hungary, hit straight as a dye with his so called weaker left foot, stuck in the stantion and needed the fire brigade to get it back out.
I’m not a football fan, at all, but Gascognes goal was superb.
Nice goals, but.....Bobby Charlton vs France 1966
Good list, but as many have said - for me Platt has to be in that list.
England v Scotland second goal Beattie header - best team goal for England IMO
How can they be the top 5? Not a Greaves Charlton or Keegan goal in Sight. 😅
What no Bobby Charlton thunderbolt against Mexico in 66? You're kidding!
Yes, I totally agree. I remember watching it at the time.
John Barnes doing a Brizillian on Brazil
David Platt’s goal, yes it was something special. It’s hard to come with a top 5 list of course, and there is no Bobby Charlton goal on here, so many to pick from. Perhaps you are too young to have seen them.
That is right, I suspect the age of the compiler informs the choices.
With the John Barnes goal not one Brazilian defender made a move on him.
A friendly that's why.
They are all good goals.
1. BLOOMER VERSUS SCOTLAND 1907. 2. MORTENSEN VERSUS ITAKY 1948. 3 BROOKS FREE KICK V ITALY 1934 4. LAWTONS SECOND VERSUS SCOTLAND 1943 5 EDWARDS VERSUS SCOTLAND 1956.
those are the top 5.
Bobby Charlton versus Mexico in the World Cup 1966 is very very special. Interesting that modern commentators only go back about 30 years at best. Of those shown the John Barnes goal against Brazil is by far and away the best.
Spot on. Only one Bobby! His England debut goal against Scotland was also awesome, with Sir Tom Finney, the Preston plumber, providing the cross.
Bobby Charlton scored half a dozen better than these
Still won NOTHING since 1966
DDD(lost on penalties)W(friendly)W (only Scotland).
I am 56 and I have never witnessed an Englishman lifting a major trophy. I cant help thinking that videos of englands greatest goals is going to be the best achievements for the rest my life. Considering the great players we have had since england won in 66, is a sad fact, that England have always failed and always lacked that something special to be a great winning side, like those boys of 66.
I'm 51 but very much the same feeling
Agreed
Second goal vs Poland at the 86WC should be in there.
Gazza for me
1. Steven Gerrard's goal v Germany 2. David Platt's goal v Belgium 3. Geoff Hurst's 3rd goal v West Germany 4..Alan Shearer's 2nd goal v Holland 5. Frank Lampard's (Wrongly disallowed) goal v Germany
england team-mickey mouse operation
How can you include friendlies
".... of all time". I don't think so! Ever heard of Charlton? Lofthouse? Shearer? Etc. etc.
Or a Bobby Charlton thunderbolt....it stopped the traffic in Mexico City.....didn’t make it here wtf.....
Like someone else said Charlton against Mexico. It was still rising when it hit the net! Oh and why didn't the goalie move for Beckham's free kick?
If you look carefully, he moved slightly the other way first, then the pace of the ball ruined him
How many goals similar to Beckham's have we seen 1000s, it is just another free kick outside the box to me.
England top goals surely have to be more than just a single shot from distance, as in a free kick. The build up is central and for that, Bobby Charlton v Mexico must be number one.
Joe coles goal
I actually believe that you cannot rank great goals, so I am not saying that the Beckham goal against Greece us no. 1, but when you consider the pressure he was under, and the fact that he had please of time to think about it, it was unbelievable.
David platt come on.
Beckham's free kick was decent but if it is mainly in there for its significance, then surely Geoff Hurst's third in 1966 has to top it.
It wasn't a free kick and people forget the Finnish goalkeeper helped England too because Germany drew 0-0 with Finland and Finland goalkeeper was anti Niemi and he was my favourite goalkeeper
