Dying Embrace - Grotesque EP
Dying Embrace is India's first death metal band, formed as Misanthrope in the early 90s and changing their name 1995 -1996. This 3 songs EP was released in 2011 when the band came back to play at Trendslaughter Fest in Bangalore, India.
The songs were originally recorded in 1997 for their first demo 'Serenades of Depravity' which I hope to upload one of these days.
At a time when most studios didn't know how to record live drums or mix heavy metal let alone death metal and growled vocals were pretty much unheard of in the commercial music space, Dying Embrace brought the ancient metal of death!
Primitive, lo-fi and with zero fucks given, Dying Embrace paved the way for a lot of the extreme metal that was to come out of India in the next few decades.
Lineup:
Jimmy Palkhivala - Guitars
Vikram Bhat - Vocals
Daniel Marc David - Drums
Jai 'Sarge' Kumar - Bass
Tracklist:
The Passing Away
Grotesque Entity
Oremus Diabolum

Obscura is in my top 5 favourite albums of all time. I had the privilege of meeting Luc a few times and I talk to him about this album all the time. It was essentially life changing for me, it made me realize that thoughts need not be confined to boundaries and art stems from different motivations. RIP Big Steeve!
Oh man, Jim’s guitar work sounds incredible!

This One Kicks Ass.. Killer Album
I like the way you're quiet honest on some of the stuff.. Thx for the viseo and greetings from GER.
Amazing, hail metal from India.
Amazing sir😮
What a Powerhouse song. Awesome stuff!
After hearing its live rendition, really blown away by the visuals. This is good stuff. Thanks JP for introducing me to doom and really awaiting the new Djinn release.
not bad - can hear a clear influence from early Cathedral but evolved in its own direction that is much grimier and sludgier
The outro is killer. Love it!
This is awesome! 🤘🏾🤘🏾Congratulations on a great video for an already kickass song you guys ❤
kickass video
Kickass song!
dig it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So good.
Thanks for watching!
Killer song with great visuals
GK gives ,many a gothic singer a run for their money. Super cool, this video recontextualises an already awesome song. Props, fellas.
Thank you dude. Much appreciated.
Too cool you chaps at Djinn! Love the artwork and the video x
Thank you!
Oh my god! Goosebumps ! Soooo good.
Thanks Chubbs! 😊
Are those reissues just reissues or remastered audio?
For God your soul is remastered audio. Thanks for watching.
Great picks man! That Carbonized is very underrated imo, love the grind element they have. Silent Scream and Cerebral Fix kill , even though I think they came out with records kinda late for thrash and of course Blood rule have been listening to them since their demo days. Cheers
Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Sweet! Also Andy Baker from cerebral fix is on Sacrilege's behind the realms of madness. another simply fantastic release. Christbait is so good, but I slightly prefer the album after this o agios pethane. And silent scream is something I had no idea about. Super thanks for that.
Yes! Forgot to mention the Sacrilege. That's another killer album.
DotCK - Top 5 Death Metal albums of all time. Oppressor - another Tech Top 10er!
great stuff! Especially going to listen to Scattered Remnants and Silent Death who i had no idea about! Shub Niggurath is a classic, along with Mortem from Peru around that time.
Nice review Gautham. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching Raj! 😊
Good to see you back
Excellent overview of the mighty Stench. So good to see them get some attention. Hope you do some more death metal spotlights like this.
That Incantation is the green vinyl edition?
Yes it is.

Just found your channel, surfed through some of your videos, and I'm super impressed with your collection. It's just amazing! Glad to see a fellow Indian metal head showcasing and reviewing all this good music. Reminds me of the style of videos Wyattxhim, Altars of Mattness, Metal Trenches and other metal UA-camrs do, which I thoroughly enjoy. Always a treat to discover new music. Just wanted to know, how did you manage to collect so many good vinyls and CDs, especially for extreme metal? Do record labels distribute international bands' merch in India? Are there any stores or vendors selling extreme metal merch in Bangalore?
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I've been collecting CDs since 1992 and vinyl for about 10 years now. Bangalore used to have great music stores for metal in the 90s and early 2000s but they're all closed now. There are a few online distros that still source stuff though. Look for Slaytanic distro and Bangalore Audio Distro on Instagram. I also order a lot of stuff online as well so built my collection over time and from a lot of different sources. 🙂
🤘🤘🤘
Great selection, you hit on many classics!
Thanks for watching! Cheers!!
There is one problem with this box. "To Mega Therion" vinyl hasn't original cover... Graphically it is changed
I haven't been to Germany post Covid but in the 2010-20 time when I'd visit often, I've observed the music stores in Germany (Munich & Berlin predominantly) are very limiting due to focussing on German pressings. It would often take some time for the new releases to be available and I, very rarely saw imports at reasonable prices. Additionally, the stores I went to weren't focussed, you'd have so much music stocked but it's all scattered around which I found quite annoying, but that's just me. Love that Stone! There is an overall industrial sense to their sound which I quite enjoy and that artwork is brilliant!
Thanks for watching! Yeah, one place I went to had a massive collection but everything was stocked under rock/pop. It was overwhelming. The other stores had genre wise displays but the metal racks were really limited with lots of 80s obscure European heavy metal bands. Still, prices on the used stuff were quite good although most newer releases are cheaper online I guess.
Excellent entry. I'm with you on 'Paranoid' and 'Ride the Lightning'. Regarding 'Iron Maiden' vs. 'Killers', I like them both equally. Nice to see some Atrophy and DBC... we don't see those that often in the VC. Desultory was a great band. I do quite like the debut. Best of luck in the draw.
Autopsy \m/
Delighted to see “Deathevokation” get a mention! ‘As my soul gazes skyward’ is an epic! I’m a bit surprised to hear the writing on Weapon’s #2 is comparable to The Chasm. The Chasm IMO is death metal royalty and I’d never imagine Weapon being in their vicinity. I’ll listen to them again.
Maybe I'm a bit biased because I love that Weapon album but yeah, let me know what you think. Thanks for watching!
Not a Motor head fan. Riot and Metal church never had the sucess their music was very heavy, Helloween also in that same boat . not a fan of Anthrax either , never heard of Sanctury nice Killers album, Born again , nice Wasp , Master of puppets , Nice Billie Idol , what do you think about Technical Ectsty and never say Die? what number in your top Sabbath's albums would you put Paranoid?
Thanks for watching. Not a big fan of either Technical Ecstasy or Never Say Die. Top 5 Sabbath albums for me are Master of Reality Paranoid Sabotage Vol. 4 Born Again
@@middle_aged_metalhead I have Paranoid in first place and it's never going to leave that position. I don't own any Technical Ectasy or Never say die on any format.
@@marksantucci4230 totally get Paranoid being #1. Lol, same here at Never say Die and Technical Ecstasy.
