From Dry Start to Worm Feast | My Iwagumi Bowl Mishap!
Переглядів 525Місяць тому
In today's video, I share the story of my dry start attempt on an Iwagumi bowl that I began nearly four weeks ago. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. Almost all the plants melted away, leading to a mold outbreak caused by the high humidity levels. As if that wasn’t enough, an army of worms took over and feasted on what was left. This experience was both frustrating and educational, and...

      @BulusKursunlu Thank you so much.So far, I've been doing a 50% water change daily and testing the water as well. Because of the fresh aquasoil,the NO3 and NO2 levels are slightly higher. A no filter setup is not an easy thing to get started,but I'm pretty sure it'll manage to get it going👏

    I love this. I am currently researching lights and considering LED flood lights. I wonder how your plants are growing. There are a lot of criticisms online of flood vs. lights designed for aquariums. They say the plants won't grow as well or too much algae. Like you, I am not worried about algae. But I wonder how your plants are doing. Are they growing well?

    • @IDoScaping
      @IDoScaping 18 днів тому

      @GM-ww Firstly, thank you so much🙌the plants are doing great, and they are absolutely thriving. You can see the growth difference in my other video on my maintenance day, and this is without a nutrient-rich substrate layer. I've only added in a layer of sand, and still, the plants are loving it. It's a very easy and cheap alternative. Sure,a light designed for the hobby has its benefits as well that i don't have with the floodlights,like not being able to dim them is a big one... but I don't mind that. Definitely a option that won't cost so much as a aquascaper light👍🙂

    Hey man... Hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) will kill the mould, and just off gas into oxygen and water. It's a lot safer than using acids, like you mentioned. You should easily get hydrogen peroxide(3% solution) at any pharmacy. You can also use it to kill off cyanobacteria, and other algae, so it's always helpful to have a bottle of the stuff, in our hobby.

    Some good ideas here. I would make two changes though. 1. move the swivel up close to the top, as it is now, you will not be able to turn it without moving the bowl out of the way. 2. I would drill a hole in the wood for the light wire so that it goes down the back for the wood instead of the side.

      @kevinhibbins1703 Thank you🙂to move the swivel up higher is a good idea,I did want to hide my shoddy drilling skills behind the bowl though😅and to move the cabe is not easy,the plug is pretty massive and I'd need to either rewire the light,or the plug. Yet did think of actually cutting a Grove into the wood for the wire to sit in. At the moment the only option thst is had was the staples😅

    That rack looks great, but I would be concerned about total weight of the rack and tanks and the structural integrity of the floor. That planned wood rack/cupboard looks great, but also very heavy. I wonder if metal racks would be stronger and less heavy, allowing you to fit more tanks in that space. I have had to reinforce the floor to support heavy tank set ups. Just something to keep in mind. I can't wait to see how it turns out. :)

    • @IDoScaping

    Try to use iron bar joints like MD Fish Tanks... wooden racks can hold weight, but after few years you get to see flex...iron racks are cheap and it looks more clear...also you can adjust the rack heights incase you want to make biotopes or river banks. Use wood just for decoration. On the other side make the book shelf 'L' type and place the 3 feet tank with hydroponic plants ...that will look dope I'm excited for your upcoming builds... love from India ❤

    I would put the fan shrimp in a larger tank with a bit more current. They like lots of hides

      @kinglyzard I have turned up the flow of the filter a bit, and they have been coming out more lately. They've been hiding well in the dense growth,but thanks for the tip🙌

    I see that in a large aquarium you have my favorites fish. I have two type with red belly and albino. Do you know their English name?

    • @IDoScaping
      @IDoScaping 2 місяці тому

      @martaxyz1157 The ones with the red belly are known as Krebensis Fish,or just Rainbow kribs in englisch. I started liking them allot,even if they are not my favourite fish😁❤️

      @BulusKursunlu believe me, it's killing me to take it this slow. Yet I wanna try and do it right and save as much money as I can. Plus, there is work,the other tanks, and the wife😅
