Killer B Motorsport Subaru oil pan removal made easy.
Переглядів 913Рік тому
At Killer B Motorsport we prefer to use adhesive on our aftermarket Subaru oil pans (or sump as our friends across the pond call it). It provides a reliable seal for a critical component of your engine. One drawback is removing the pan. The very adhesive that creates a strong seal, also makes removing the pan a real pain in the butt. This is why we included a threaded hole on the flange that yo...

And too think I was about to pull out my blow torch 😂
I got this through CarMods Australia, it stated on the website that it fits 2006 sti, but it does not. Stock TGV and fuel lines are stopping it from making it fit... Any recommendations for TGV deletes and fuel line kits? IAG?
Try iag
Question... are these open or closed when the little drain plug is all the way up? I installed them and went 3k miles, literally nothing in the cans. Wondering if I left them wide open instead of closed.
We have used different drain valves from different manufacturers so I won’t be able to tell you which one open or closed. Can you remove the unit and attempt to blow air through the bottom to verify its state?
Terrible, we bought it a year ago when it was advertised as fitting 2004+ STI and few months later they change it to 2007+ STI because of the sidefeeds being in the way but now we're out of return period, false advertising.
Does the turbo spool sound louder than on a silicone inlet?
Need tuning??
Only $700 😮💨
I know this is old but since there is a baffle in the middle , would old oil still be trapped in the baffle?
Are you’re referring to oil changes?
Hello yes, I am just concerned about the baffle on the pan not emptying the contents 100 %
Nevermind :) I did a oil change using a fumoto valve 1/2 and the oil drains without issue . So happy that I purchased the Super G .
Does this fit a 2013 WRX? Listings skip 2008-14.
You can make this fit but you will need to trim the EBCS bracket and relocate the solenoid.
Does anyone know what the oil lines in the oil pan were next to the drain plug
Can you give me a time stamp in the video where you see this?
Why is the one for the WRX metal but the one for the BRZ plastic? Also are you just soaking up the liquid w/ a rag or was there a drain that it goes out to?
Thanks for the question. The FA20 WRX AOS is aluminum and was designed specifically for the FA20 engine. The 3D printed AOS was designed specifically for the FA24 engine. The two engines have different volume requirements, thus two different design solutions.
are these screws required a certain torque when secured?
These are M4 socket head cap screws. 4.83 Nm monsterbolts.com/pages/metric-socket-screw-torque-specs
@@KillerBMotorsportthanks!!
Good old Verona lot
Would this fit on a 2017 wrx?
Sorry but this is for the EJ engine. The car you mentioned has an FA20.
@@KillerBMotorsport thank you for the fast response. Was asking for a friend
Moto iq article said you made 697hp/598tq id assume that on ethanol....
That was on corn. This car originally made over 800HP, but we lowered it for reliability.
Do you have to uninstall these to drain them, or just twist the valve? Are their internal filters that need to be replaced? How long do they last, before needing replacement?
Thanks for the question. You do not have to remove the AOS to drain it. You just twist the valve. There are no internal filters. Just drain and go!
Just ordered these. Outside of ease of installation. What would be the pros/cons of this setup vs the Versus AOS setup?
These are lighter and small. That makes them less likely to interfere with other mods.
Will this fit VA STi with the ITS brush gaurd?
I haven't tested on the ITS specifically, but it does fit with most.
What type of service intervals have you been seeing for the BRZ/GR86 when it comes to emptying these out? Obviously it'll vary depending upon use but in general what should a daily-driver expect.
We empty them with every oil change.
Keep up the good work. I have the Killer B oil pickup, windage tray and the oil pan. I’ll be installing it on my 2019 STI limited in the Philippines in December.
Thank you very much for the support.
How tf did you get the back bolts of the sump out? I’ve been under my car and by the looks of it I’ll have to drop engine mounts and Jack the motor up for clearance to access the back bolts of the pan but you didn’t do that in the video. Or maybe you did but everything happened so fast I couldn’t tell
We do unbolt the motor mounts and lift the engine a little. It doesn't have to be much.
When will this come out for the VB Wrx? Will it also be this easy?
There are a few more steps to the FA24 WRX install, but it's still comes partially assembled and is very easy :) Shoot us an e-mail if you'd like a peek at the installation instructions.
Showoff 😆
HAHAHA
you made insane edtiion- Killer~=))
Thank you
why would you cheap out and not use metal vs rubber, that is very disappointing... even cheap weld in honda kits use metal :\
The metal trap doors don't seal nearly as well. When the oil is hot and flows like water, the valves need to seal 100% every time. Metal trap doors do not.
@@KillerBMotorsportwould rubber although i may be wrong change it’s shape, or crack after a while as the hot oil / any liquid, may not be rubbers best friend?
Without a doubt, WITHOUT A DOUBT one of the WORST Japanese performance vehicles engine layout to every work on. What an absolute nightmare.
Oooo buddy I think the z32 might beg to differ
Maybe time to update this video? 480p?
I agree!
Any issues below 0°F?
None reported!
Worth mentioning that when it says "without AOS" that doesn't apply to the IAG. It mimics the factory PCV system entirely, so you WILL need that extra fitting in place of the plug at the turbo end of the inlet. I was able to get the plug out after fully installing the inlet (long 6mm wobble Allen) but now I'm scared to death of not being able to get the fitting into the inlet with it fully installed. Ordered a 90° brass fitting in the measurements specified (1/4 NPT & 1/2 barb) and hoping for the best. This was far and away the most brutal install I've ever done on a car. It is BARELY possible to get the inlet through the manifold with the coupler on without phenolic spacers.
I just got done with my and I deleted have the purge valve. So installed a 1/4npt to 90° brass 1/4" hose barb in that spot and just ran some longer hose to the PCV system. There is no way you can get a fitting on there.
@Zach Bochek yeah bro, adding that extra fitting 100% necessities pulling the manifold. Fortunately I was able to just loosen it and lift it up just enough to get the inlet with the fitting in it through. You definitely can't put the fitting on with the inlet already installed. I also wound up notching the passenger side fuel rail bracket to give me room to lift the manifold rather than dick with pulling the oil line to get it off. This video definitely needs to be updated as it grossly oversimplifies how difficult this install is.
Will this fit on a 2007 outback xt?
it'd be nice to know what headers are NOT compatible with the pan for clearance.
Hope they respond I have the same question for 2021 Sti. Wondering if I can do unequal headers with this. Wanna keep that rumble. Ya I know it’s not the best for the engine but would be nice to know. Maybe while they are at it make some new header designs and bundle it up with this.
You guys want to make one of these setups for the EZ30R? 💰
How often do you recommend to be clean?
Inspect and/or clean after every oil change or track day. With our setup, it's very easy :)
This unit have clearance for a FMIC ? I have the grimmspeed innercooler for refrance.
Shouldn't affect intercooler piping at all.
where does that lower hose go...
It goes to a coolant crossover pipe under the intake manifold, that leads to the water pump.
Do we need a retune for this? I'm on flexfuel and do not wanna mess it a retune if I don't have to. Awesome part!!
You don't have to, but you'll not be taking full advantage of the power potential if you do not. You'll get gain from installing it without a tune, but more with.
Hmmm , here's a little idea on how to remake this video : Fill the 3 cavities with different colored water , and you can show case the rate at which the water is exiting the "enclosed" section. Other than that nice product :)
Check this out... ua-cam.com/video/04LfW746Lkg/v-deo.html
I love the design. But unfortunately my lower coolant hose, that connects to the lower part of the tank bursted after 1 month, and I trimmed it. I think it was just the tight angle there. Has this happened to anyone else? Gotta new hose coming in hopefully it corrects that issue or I’ll have to find a modified hose for it. Excellent product though other than that lower portion being so tight.
How old was the hose you used?
Hi guys I’ve emailed you several times for suggestions on a street-turbo upgrade. What turbo options do you recommend?
they dont sell turbos youll probably better off talking to FP or grimmspeed
I wanted this to work so bad
With this Inlet, will you need to do TGV delete? I have a 2014 STI.
Not if you're upside-down....
Wet sumps, "Nooo, my only weakness...Gravity!"
Works with oil baffle plates? Like cosworth etc?
Will this be available for the FA20?
Would be interested as well
1 - Seems there could be a third pan option that doesn't have the huge dent to clear the el header and add almost another quart of capacity. 2 - How do you slap that pan on before oil seeps back on the engine flange? 😆 I remove honda pans almost every week for one reason or another, and the oil never seems to stop seeping, it's maddening. 😆 You have to be faster than gravity to beat the oil.
The dish is not only for EL headers, but to hold oil around the oil pickup. One of the reason the older flat bottom oil pans don't work nearly as well as the newer dished in version. Try removing the pan when the oil is REALLY hot. It will run out a lot faster and is easier to soak up. Then jam some rags up into the back webbing to let it soak up as much oil as possible before final clean up and putting the pan in place.

Can the killer b reservoir be mounted with the mount for the hoses that they clip into? The one that's taken out at 2:12. Thanks
I don't believe so, but we've never tried.
@@KillerBMotorsport awesome I'm interested in this and just kind of like the way the hose clips in on the bracket so thanks I'll figure it out and maybe let you guys know. Lol
Do you need to replace header gaskets after taking it off?
Yes. Any exhaust components removed need to have the gaskets replaced.
What other modifications did the car have, nice gains for such a simple part.
Just the turbo inlet was changed. I believe it was a stage 2 STi. Check out Mele for more information on the car :)
