I'm starting to get addicted to simmons units, not as a drummer but as a producer with a sequencer. i have an sds-8, an sds-9 with the blower and i have an mtx-9 on it's way. Couldnt find the info but i hope the mtx uses eproms; if fixed like on an sds-1000 i think i'll put slots to be able to change them. If asnybody know intersting mods for those units i'm intersted, for now i might add cv ins for pitches on the sds-8 to have the lfo. i could design a "run circuit aswell, the electronic druid's even genrerator chip could be usefull for that, an s&h could be an idea too; all i have to do is to find the spot to conect at pitch cv input, not the end of the world... This sdx is crazy....

Hey I remember seeing new order use something similar to this in a studio performance. Do you know if Simmons ever released these suitcase drumsets to the public? I have an sds7 module and it would be cool to have one of these suitcase drumsets to go along with it but I can't find any information on it. Did you build yours from scratch?

Thanks for posting this ... I talked about the Simmons suitcase kit I had in my latest vlog on my UA-cam channel. The vlog is called “Ask Earl Anything #8” I bought mine in early 90s from a music store in Sea Girt, NJ called the music place. The octapad was out for quite a bit of time by then, so he sold it to me for cheap to use with my Alesis D4. It was pretty terribly made so I can understand why there are not many around anymore. I think mine went the curb after I trade my D4. Anyhow you did an amazing job restoring your! Thanks for the video.
