Phil Lucas VLOGs
United Kingdom
Приєднався 9 чер 2012
Welcome to my channel. I live in Plymouth, Devon in the southwest of the UK, with my wife Jacquie and Jacob the Labrador (still going strong and now over 13 years old but slower than he was). My channel includes videos from SUP, Running, days out and weekends away in my caravan in Cornwall. I have been running since 2012, paddle boarding since 2020 and kayaked and surfed for over 30 years before that. I run regularly on the Southwest Coast Path mainly in Cornwall and SUP regularly around Plymouth in Devon and St Austell Bay in Cornwall. Due to recent running injuries I have decided to transition to barefoot running shoes and I love documenting my journey through life while running, SUP and days out using my Insta360 One RS and DJI Mini 3 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Editing is completed using Final Cut Pro on my MacBook Pro. If you like a video please let me know by commenting, liking and subscribing to the channel. Cheers and take care, oh and thanks for taking the time to read this 😃
Treyarnon Bay North Cornwall in 4K by drone and insta360
We visited the north Cornwall coast at Treyarnon Bay and took advantage of the perfect weather, dramatic seas and beautiful coast path. Nothing beats exploring the southwest coast path and capturing it using my DJI drone as well as my Insta360 One RS all in glorious 4K.

I managed to capture some stunning views during the run with both my drone as well as the usual Insta360 One RS. We had never hiked or run this part of the coast path and were absolutely blown away by the beautiful blue green sea, the dramatic rugged cliffs and Cornwall's past industrial ...

Running the Camel Trail in Cornwall Part 1 - Padstow to Wadebridge
Wow this looks like an awesome trail to run.
@@UKBarefootRunningandLifestyle it’s absolutely stunning and well worth a visit.
As always a great video. That part of the coast looks stunning!
@@UKBarefootRunningandLifestyle thank you. Yes it is gorgeous.
So cool! I’m doing it today for my 11th bday! I hope she had fun
@@MissRoxanaGozzard you’ll love it, it’s great fun. My niece loved it too.
Great shots and pro quality video live it Phil keep going guys. Hope to join you ine day
Thanks Angela. Hope you and Steve are well.
It is a real pain to be enjoying the peace and tranquility of the coast path only to have some inconsiderate person flying a noisy drone overhead. Are the any quiet drones?
Mine is a DJI mini 3 pro, small enough to fit in my pack when running and if it’s more than 15m away it’s barely audible and even less so if there’s a bit wind. I wouldn’t fly it if there were loads of people around because some people don’t like them. I often get people asking questions if they see me flying and have never encountered any animosity towards me or the drone. Most people are genuinely interested. Ultimately it’s simply a flying very wide angled camera.
@@PhilLucasVLOGs Thanks for your answer and if your drone is quiet then that is great. It certainly provide brilliant images.
as much as I love the scillies and have stayed there many times......as far as sheer beauty goes they don't even come close to some of the islands in the outer hebrides
@@soarinfan I’ve visited the highlands and the Isle of Skye was stunning but never had the pleasure of visiting the outer Hebrides. Others have said they are spectacular. Thanks for commenting.
Great video, just subbed and looking forward to future content. and ill check out your previous to.
Thanks for your comment and I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for subscribing also and I’m working on my next video now. Look forward to hearing from you soon 😃
Love the drone shots. Beautiful video and stunning place to run.
@@UKBarefootRunningandLifestyle absolutely stunning.
Looks fun but a challenging route for a Parkrun.
It is but it is a beautiful place to run.
So true, just started couch to 5k after a few false starts. Wouldn't go out the door by myself so joined a group. Legs felt terrible, but on week 3 and hoping to finish ok
@@odinswolf1969 well done. Keep at it because it will get easier both physically and psychologically. Have you thought about a Saturday morning Parkrun? Doesn’t matter if you run or walk, faster or slower, they are very inclusive, free and it’s a great way to start your weekend. Even better if your run buddies come with you. Well done again and keep going. If you have any questions or need further advice please ask. One foot in front of the other. Thanks for your comment.
I’ve paddle boarded along that path at high tide
Yes I have too. It’s nice to paddle around the island but the wind can make it difficult and not always possible. Thanks for your comment 😊
Beautiful park run ❤ it xx
Yes it is bean!
Absolutely stunning!!!
Loving the barefoot shoes 👍🏼
@@UKBarefootRunningandLifestyle thanks. Thought I’d try the Hobibear.
Looks stunning for a working harbour.
@@UKBarefootRunningandLifestyle my favourite Cornish village
Port Isaac am I right? Mabye not 😅
@@BinkyThePug unfortunately you’re not correct. Have another guess. I can see why you’d think it was port Isaac.
@@PhilLucasVLOGs unless it’s Porthcurno I am stumped 😂
@@BinkyThePug 🤣 okay I’ll put you out of your misery; it’s Mevagissey on the south coast of Cornwall.
I don’t know why I love things like this, but I just do❤❤❤❤❤
@@racheldavies2563 thanks for your comment. I love that you love things like this too.
WAHOOOOOO!!!!!!
Good intro dude. Keep it up!
I’ve often thought if this is possible. Thanks
I run barefoot. A little too much ground feel for the trails sometimes lol.
@MrNoName7474 I’ve run on trails in Ma Sandals and VBF Primus Firm Ground and really enjoy the ground feel and the longest so far is a mile on pavements with nothing on my feet. Unfortunately I’m impatient and struggling with my Achilles during the transition.
@@PhilLucasVLOGs I’ve been doing this 3 years and still waiting on the struggle of the transition to end and for it to become easy, but it might never end lol. Guess that’s life. Or maybe 3 years is just not enough time to undo 20+ years of bad habits. I try to live in the moment though and not worry about the past or future.
@MrNoName7474 my thoughts were the same. I can’t undo over 45 years of bad shoes in such a short time 🤣 thanks for reaching out, much appreciated. Good luck with your ongoing transition.
Hi what type of shoes do I need as I'm planning to do long walk as it will raining and muddy. Thanks
@@ngu8974 for wet and muddy conditions, you will need a shoe or boot with the largest lugs. I prefer trail running shoes even for walking. I have used Scarpa SL boots in the past but no longer like the stiffness and disconnect from the ground. My preference would be for Altra Lone Peak 8 trail running shoes with 25mm of stack height, zero drop and good ground contact feel. However if you’re not used to more minimal zero drop shoes you may wish to look at other Altra shoes or the Innov8 shoes or boots designed for walking in very muddy and wet conditions.
Stunning views again, Phil. Loved it.
Thanks Thomas. Hope your trip went well. Pictures looked amazing. 🤩
Look up top burr adjustment for your grinder. It’ll allow you to grind finer without being at setting 3. I moved mine to 4 and grind to where I’m pulling 2-1 in 30 seconds. I’m sure your espresso is fine, but slowing down the extraction just a little bit will give you a better shot.
Thanks for your comment. Yes I did that exact thing and did help. Cheers
Great vlog, just subbed, fellow Cornwall vlogger 😊👍
Thank you for comment it’s much appreciated. Thanks so much for subscribing too, it really does mean a lot. I’ll check out your channel. Love Costa del Kernow, there’s nowhere better!
Very nice place ❤
It’s my favourite village in Cornwall. Gorgeous coffee and cake in Shesells too. 😋
Great video lovely to see those places again and you both looking so well thanks for sharing very pro 😀 x
@@angelamerchant7769 thanks Angela. Hope you and Steve are well.
Very beautiful. Wish I could run there as well😊
Hi Thomas. Yes it is beautiful. Maybe the next time you come over.
I love the 360 video it looks awesome 🎉
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the shoes. It was good to hear your thoughts.
You are so welcome. Thanks for your comment.
Hope the injury is healing well
Thank you for comment. Yes the Achilles are getting stronger and I am no longer feeling any pain during my runs which is a big step in the right direction. I’m continuing with the runs in Altra Lone peak 8 for now and will slowly start introducing the Vivos again. I’ve got lots of videos to come so do keep watching and commenting. Cheers, Phil.
Eden project looks stunning from the zip wire. Great video !!!
Wow that look amazing!!!
Love those views. I can’t believe Kynance Cove is in Cornwall.
It really is. It’s so beautiful!
Ur vids are amazing u should get more credit for it keep up the work 💙
Thanks for your kind words, they are appreciated. It does take many hours and I am happy my work is liked. Feel free to subscribe. Thanks again, Phil.
Wow looks amazing
I am doing my first 20 miler tomorrow and have been watching your videos. Great work and well done for completing your longest run also. The video series of the training runs and the race itself are great.
Thank you for your kind words they’re very appreciated. It looks like the weather will be kind to you tomorrow. You’ll love the route it is beautiful and brutal in equal measure 🤣 I intended to complete the black RAT this year and am gutted that injury has dictated I can’t and referred my entry to next year. Take it easy tomorrow, enjoy the experience and I may see you at some point on the course as I’m planning on spectating for a time. One thing came to mind, there was no aid station between Gorran Haven and the last one at Pentewen and by the time I got to Mevagissey I was gasping for water so it may be worth carrying additional water between those aid stations. Good luck tomorrow and enjoy.
I used to live on St Martin's but had to leave in 1987 due to no work and no where to live . You have to be quite well off to live there. I moved to Porthcawl in South Wales so I'm still by the sea but it's not as nice as the Scilly isles.
Sorry to read you had to leave, it’s beautiful there. Definitely have to be wealthy to live there and apart from tourism I don’t imagine there is a lot work there. I live in Plymouth and spend most weekends in Cornwall which appears to be much the same as the Scillys. Thanks for your comment 👍🏼
You shot it in portrait though 😢
Yes it was an insta360 app edit. I’m in the process of making a long form video and that should be published this week. Thanks for your comment.
Wow that was awesome 😊 Nearly flying experience 😁
@@venkugin8154 yes it was amazing. Thanks for your comment.
Another stunning location. I assume it’s Cornwall
Yes it certainly is!
I can't really tell, how narrow is the start of the black?
@@TheStaciemarks it is relatively narrow to begin with and like most MudCrew races you will be held up by pinch points, particularly at the beginning of the race. Ideally also try and get past the red route start point before their race starts.
Even in the rain Mullion Cove is a lovely place to visit with easy access to the Southwest coast path.
Beautiful even in the rain ❤
Yes it was!
Not today
Definitely not today 🤣 however next week is looking more promising. Thanks for your comment.
