      Yeah, I mixed perfective and imperfective. I think I did it on multiple verbs in this video. I couldn't explain the aspects in this video (I thought of it as more for beginners) so I was thinking about what I should do, and then I finally decided to use the most common aspect in the infinitive form, and then the most common aspects in the present / past / future forms - and not to match them. If that is what you meant.

    is ja kuvam, the same as I cook or is it just Kuvam? I am using google translate as well. Is google translate safe to trust when learning a language?

    • @teacherboko
      @teacherboko 3 дні тому

      I cook - ja kuvam, kuvam - it's all the same. We usually omit the subject pronouns because the verb forms for every person (first, second, third) are all different - kuvam, kuvaš, kuva, kuvamo, kuvate, kuvaju. That makes subject pronouns unnecessary. It's completely fine if you do use them, though. Google translate is in my opinion the best translator on the internet. However, you cannot rely on it. It's not safe to trust unconditionally. It makes mistakes. Also, you have to know how to use it. There are ways of writing your English sentence in a specific way, which would give you a better (specific, accurate) word form in Serbian.

    I need a little help, why does in the captions, certain words are written differently in Serbian, why is it different than the ones that are posted on your video? Are they like the same thing? Do we get a choice on how to say it or are they the same? Like you’re saying one thing on your video but yet in your caption, and in Google translator, it’s saying another thing. It’s not doing it to all the words but some of them. Like for example my name is, it’s giving me another example than the one on your video. And then, could you speak slower please it’s also saying a different thing than your video?

    • @teacherboko
      @teacherboko 4 дні тому

      What you can see is the Croatian CC. You have it for certain words/phrases only - because those are the ones that are different between the standards. If there is no caption it means it's identical in Serbian and Croatian.

    Day 2, of looking at this video, last week, I was interested in learning Serbian, but I gave up on it because y’all alphabet looked so confusing, so I decided to come back yesterday and look at this video because I was trying to start over because somebody’s other video gave me an idea that I need to learn a language like a child like how we learn English and the first thing I need to do that is learn your alphabet and so far I’m getting a better understand and I managed to understood a few words but I decided to come back to this video every day over and over again until I finally understand, and how to pronounce it. But I hope you have a video on how to write your language because I have your Serbian language on my keyboard and when I look at it versus what I’m looking at on your video, it shows like it looks like it’s ancient text and I’m kind of hoping to learn that and have a better understanding

      That's great! Don't give up! There is nothing to explain about writing in Serbian, other then: It is 100% phonetic. The way you hear is the way you write. One letter only has one sound - it is always pronounced the same, hence always written the same. Always. No exeptions. There are no diphthongs, silent letters or double letters.
