    I have exceptionally thick, low porosity, graying hair (we seem to have similar hair type). It takes 13-19 hours to air dry at the root/thickest parts, and diffusing doesn’t do anything. But it gets so wild overnight, no matter the protective measures, that day 2 hair isn’t even an option. I’m also an evening shower person, so sometimes “day 1” isn’t even an option 😂 You may have just saved my wavy hair life.

    I’m a curly girl who has just refreshed for the first time (using this video) and my hair turned out absolutely amazing! 😭❤️ I was always afraid to refresh because of my thin, low porosity, hair. All the videos I would see had other curlies packing on products (which my hair would not be able to handle) so I avoided it for the longest time. I ran into this video and my hair turned out great :’) I did make some minor adjustments according to my hair needs, and it still came out just fine. Thank you once again!

    Wish I would’ve seen this video BEFORE I dyed mine haha with the being said.. me, a renter, with a plastic tub 😂 I panic dyed my hair Transylvania before an interview. I had Emerald green for St P and it faded to a pretty weird green and it wasn’t interview hair by any means. So, almost midnight o’clock the day before my interview, I stained my bathtub. It went from black, to dark purple, to blue.. I mean it was terrifyingly beautifully a disaster! I did not have time to clean.. I did not have time to rinse it all out either. Went to my interview and got a call later about a home inspection coming in a week. Lucky for everyone else who might need this advice lol.. I filled (panic filled) my bathtub with the hottest water till it reached the height that the colors were stained. I dumped about a cup of bleach in and let it soak. I waited until the water was bearable to touch and I went in with a Scrub Daddy carefully inside the tub, up the walls.. everywhere I could. It came clean!!! The liner got thrown out and I bought another. Same process with my sink and floor. I recommend that if you haven’t done your hair yet.. do it outside if possible. Have someone help. Wear gloves!!! And rinse outside with the hose lol. Stay away from your house and cars.

    I dyed my hair yesterday for the first time with purple rain and Poseidon, my hair is 2c - 3a curls and is long like to the hip, I used about 5 oz for my whole head so maybe you used too much, also it’s easier to shower to remove it, everybody does the tub thing and I think it’s uncomfortable and gets in the way of properly rinsing the product, also yeah cover your entire face, ears and neck with cream or coconut oil or Vaseline, lastly I would recommend wearing gloves both when applying and rinsing the product out, you won’t get annoying stains

    I never thought about trying a bowl with hot water! I have never been able to refresh my low-porosity hair. Spraying makes it get wiry and straw-like, as do any oils. I even tried to refresh in the SHOWER in the past. But I stopped doing that when it gave me a hair disaster on an important day. Usually I don't bother at all. I just wear a half-up style or ponytail the second day, and a ponytail or bun the next couple days. And if I have an event, I wash that morning! I will have to try some of these methods though. I thought low porosity hair can't take protein and heavy butters and oils?

    • @southerncurltara
      @southerncurltara 3 роки тому

      Hi - this is a common misconception about proteins. It can’t take large proteins. Butters and oils are pretty subjective - and it depends on the purpose. When I do an oil treatment, it’s to soften my hair up a bit since I have coarse to very coarse hair. Or to seal the shaft and weight it down if it’s really really humid out.

    • @kellynakama52
      @kellynakama52 3 роки тому

      @@southerncurltara thank u a lot for ur reply! So what's considered large protein and what kinda protein could low porosity hair handle?

    • @southerncurltara
      @southerncurltara 3 роки тому

      Proteins like keratin and collagen are extremely large. Others like silk, milk, wheat, and soy also need to be broken down in order penetrate the hair shaft. This can’t be done at home - only in a lab - so you want to look for products that have been ‘hydrolyzed.’ I have several products with hydrolyzed. proteins (Curls Blueberry Bliss comes to mind) but my 2 go-tos for tweaking my treatments are Braggs Liquid Aminos (the building blocks of protein) and Neutral Protein Filler. (I just realized I’ve never looked up the ingredients for NPF...🤔... I may want to keep the mystery and just call it magic. 😉)

    • @southerncurltara
      @southerncurltara 3 роки тому

      oooh - good question. Curls is Curls.biz. I’m not sure about their International shipping policies. Braggs Liquid Aminos is actually a food product. Braggs is the brand. Similar items can be found at health food or natural stores and is often a replacement for soy sauce. Are you a member of the International Curly Girl Group on Facebook? They may have a Greece album. If not, I can check. For the Neutral Protein Filler, it’s typically found at hair supply stores - near the coloring supplies. (like gloves and bowls) I’ve been to Greece but not for normal shopping so I’m not as familiar with what the supply chain is like. :) Let me know what you find - this might make a fun video!

    Now I'm confused. Your low porosity hair looks and acts and responds to these products the way our high porosity, afro textured types do. So if yours is low porosity, does that make our high porosity types low porosity types and our low porosity types extremely low porosity now, or some other phrase that has yet to be coined? Maybe we need to go back to the drawing board and redraw our afro textured hair categories again if we've been this far off... 🤔 Love the adaptation and consistency of the terminology for everything from co-washing to praying hands though, it makes your advice familiar and super easy to follow along. Thanks for sharing your routine.
