Early June Flatty caught on my Pro Challenger 501 Jigmaster/Ugly Stik Tiger Lite jigging rod.
The Tweedless 30

This is a handmade amp I built about 20 years ago...it was an attempt to get a "tweed" sound...but it actually has a unique sound because I ran much higher voltages to the tubes than a Tweed amp does. I call it "The Tweedless" because it is simply painted, no luggage linen.
The Jurassic Boombox

This little tube type AM/FM stereo is a project I converted to a guitar amp. The swing out speakers are so cool...it has to be the earliest "boom box" ever made!
What a ripper
It's good to see you're having fun with it.
Love your playing on this, especially the tasteful bends. Thanks for sharing!
Nice. I was at the Tampa show last Sunday. 🤘
I live that sound of the reel relasing when casting and than the gears click penn.😅 309 level wind penn gti
Sweet reel, nice job.
Good music
You have some beautiful examples of those old reels there Mike. I'm from the UK, and have only recently discovered the American Pfluegers (lovely reels, precision built in the USA, like my treasured Fender and Gibson guitars). My first Pflueger (I think a Pflueger?) was a little Portage Seminole 40, then I got a Pflueger Pelican (strange looking, but beautiful to me), and my most recent Pflueger is a very pretty boxed 1941 Skilcast with the cork arbor and 6th faceplate scew; a smaller reel that I thought it would be, but it is in incredible condition (lightly used but very well cared for). I am now hooked, as they say; my Pflueger journey has just started. Thank you for the inspiration. All the best, Paul
Maybe a Penn peerless #9 would be better. Smaller reel
Shred it brother!! Great job!!
Thats some good playing
I love the old bait casting reels. I have about 75 in my collection.
Nice sounds great
Hay Mike great video I am thinking about getting a second 309 m for one of my other rods God bless
How can duet with this?
Love my old reel !!
Awesome..You really nail it
what can I dot do I won’t have a bird nest when I cast it can u pls tell me
Slow the spool down with your thumb just before your bait hits the water.
Where’s the button to cast on that thing? I’m used to low pro baitcaster
i was looking for instructions not a ethan Meixsell video.
Hay Mike great job on the video thanks I have this reel really like it thanks
I have the 109 and a Mag 10, which is the 109 with a higher speed retreive. They cast very well. Mostly I use them for jigging for blackmouth on the salt chuck, where you cast upstream against the running tide, then bounce it along the bottom, then repeat. Thos young kings are layin down at about 90ft and really go for a Point Wilson Dart (3 - 6oz depending on the tide). Oh, and yeah, they are superb trolling reels. Pretty impressed with that 1/4oz load, though.
Here before it's viral
Well done! I could almost hear Roth singing.
GOTTA LOVE THE KAHLER. I only give props to bad ass OLD GUYS that RULE.
Take a like because I thought Jack Black was about to give a crazy face
H*** yeah dude. Is that the Eddie Van Halen pedal
Believe it or not...that's a Monoprice distortion pedal I bought on Amazon for $17!
What overdrive do you use?
That is a budget distortion pedal by Monoprice. It has an incredible tone...but horrible output. Can't get close to unity gain, so I put a Mosky D250X behind it, with the gain backed off and the level turned up.
Man, I live in Cincinnati. I was thinking Ross in Butler 3:31 county = Ross lake. Then I look up directions, almost 2 1/2 hours away. Still think it might be worth the drive
Them socks though
Cool. What kind of guitar is that..? I like it
It's a late 60's Univox.
Crazy sounds like Walsh but I'm hearing for some odd reason Ted nugent in it. But it sounded great
Gen X. Loud and proud!
Les Paul and fish pj’s are the greatest combo🔥
Sounds unreal 💪🫡
Rock on, Santa! \m/
Great playing, Mike! I'm sure half the tone is in the overalls. I don't quite recognize that model of Epiphone, unfortunately.
It's one of the Japanese Epi's from the late 60s. At the time...they called it a "budget build"...by today's standards it is a flagship!😎
This of course is many years later after this post but I am wondering about what weight you are putting on your Carolina rig? I tried using my 109 to fish hair jigs and power grubs with a 1/8 oz big head for crappie. Lets say casting is pretty crummy. Wondering if the Penn 109 has a sweet spot for best casting?
I think it was a 3/8 oz. sinker.
1/4 oz. and up
Nice
Thing is gorgeous. Bought one, probably last forever, made in USA.
Bass love the Black worm with the White Dot. I was fishing with one a few weeks back. Pretty clear water on a blue bird sky day. Those White Dots were actually sparkling. I’ve got about 15 worms left. Gosh they are so darn hard to find in stores. Damn near impossible.
Hay bud sounds great
Sounding great man!
Beautiful lake
Hay bud great video thanks 🐟
Sounds good, you’re like me not only do you fish, you play guitar also.
Hi Mike, awesome beard. Your rig is exactly what i have in mind. Im not sure whether it do long cast with 7-8 foot fishing rod untill i found this particular video with Penn 309 on it. I would love to know if you can share the specs of the rod in this video and the weight of the fiahing line. Braided or nylon. Thank you. One sub coming up!
That is just a 6.5ft Ugly Stik boat rod..the reell would cast even better on a good 7ft. casting rod. I was using 30lb. mono.
@@mikeshaver1288 thank you man. Awesome share
This video caused me to buy a Rocket 1375, absolutely love it! Wish it had more drag but it's a joy to use
How does it cast? Anywhere near as good as a Supreme (almost as well as my Ambassadeur c3)? As a diehard pike fisherman I've been pretty interested in those reels, but have not actually laid hands on one yet.
@@bushleague3472 I'm catfishing so distance is my primary concern, as for that it's excellent. It's probably not as good as an Abu for lures ect
Great video thanks
I like these fishing reels sir
