    Pretty out there, isn't it. I love that area. At 22:35 , I picked up many rocks that didn't look very good on the outside but kept them, & glad I did! When I cut them, they were beautiful inside! If they're halfway decent on the outside, there just might be treasure inside...😉

      It's true. Some stones can hide what is inside, but many of these hold no secrets I assure you. The jasper nodules can have some variance. That good red jasper I had found previously was much plainer on the outside vs inside.

    A veritable culinary extravaganza! What fun that was. I sit watching with rapt interest as I am about to embark in about 60 days upon my own voyages while learning how to function in my small trailer's very small galley. While working on the ceiling of my 5' X 10' currently, in my mind's eye I am pondering a semi-convertible bunk a little like yours, there, so that I may have an area in which to unfold my lawn chair. My bunk's mattress will have to be something like a tri-fold, and I think I know which one it will be. I am excited! and hope one day in the very near future to be camped in my own rig, my coffee and sharing the wide open spaces with you, one of my CTC mentors. Safe travels to you, Marc! See you out there at some point!

I'm not too knowledgeable about all of that but as a person looking for cool rocks I have come across them before and had others tell me what they are. Some of those agatized barites make for interesting lapidary material, and some are kinda plain.

    Mark! Nice to see your rig again. I like the additions and upgrades. Big Blue sure is a handy thing. When I started planning my 5' X 10' "squaredrop" (galley at the back), these Bluetti and Jackery type self-contained systems were kinda new. My trailer's electric system is built into a cabinet next to my three big AGM 12V batteries and a big ol' 12V-120V inverter, all of which is positioned directly over the trailer axle for best weight distribution (for my tastes). Like you, I have run both 12V and 120V circuits forward to the front of the trailer where I can charge my laptop, my phone, my drone battery, and some USB-battery LED flat panel lights like you have on the ceiling, there. Then I have an additional 120V run to the rear of the trailer to two outlets to run a toaster oven or a small skillet or my hot water pot (I brew my coffee using a cone filter), the first outlet is a GFCI on the right side of a small bar sink, then back over to the left side to power a second 120Voutlet that also has two USB outlets if someone needs their phone charged or whatever. This darn squaredrop/cargo trailer/camper corn-version project has been difficult but It's starting to be satisfying seeing it near completion. It was also a lot of fun planning it. It's been three years of part-time labor, plus the pondering. The pondering consists of, "That's what I want, but how the heyull am I going to do it?" kinda thing. I have STANDARDS, man. Problem is, my SKILLS do not measure up to my standards! but I just keep at it. Doing the ceiling panels right now, then once those are done I'll finish the twin-mattress-sized bunk, then wiring the 12V section opposite the bunk where my "office" implements are located. I need to make a video so I am no longer compelled to leave novellas like this one in your comments. lmao. I hope to see you out there at some point in 2025! Camp Lapidary meets ApplesBigHatRanch camping, rockhounding and perhaps plinkin' some tin cans with the old Marlin .22 lever action. Good times. Cheers!

      Hello again, Apples Big Hat Ranch! A quick googling of your name tells me you are somewhere in Colorado? For possible 2025 joint camping opportunities I'll be attending the Jade Fest in Jeffery City, Wyoming in August. Another trip to the Blue Forest, Wyoming whenever the weather there is nice. Perhaps south-eastern Utah also when weather appropriate. A trip back to north-eastern Utah has been on my want list for some time. Just something to think about.. I'm on Facebook/Messenger for a more private conversation if you like. I sure hope you have been using your trailer while working on it. Really helps to know what you want and need. Yes, a video would be nice. These cargo trailer videos tend to do well here on the UA-cam. I too have done much more pondering than actual work. It's fine though, keeps me from just adding all kinds of crap I really don't need, yet maintain a small level of comfort as I go into my oldness. lol.

    I know that this was filmed a couple years ago, but have you ever considered using a hammock. I've been using them for a good 25 years and find them handy even inside a trailer like this. They take up less space and only require u-bolt mount or an eyebolt securely mounted. I even use them in my home for visitors to sleep on, nothing like roughing it while you are visiting. :) i use the eagles nest outfitters (ENOS) hammocks takes less padding to be more comfortable. Just a though.

    • @camplapidary
      @camplapidary 10 днів тому

      Hi! I had a hammock probably 20 years ago, set up in the backyard under my large tree. I liked it then and I would imagine having one now would also be cool. Never slept in it though, it was just for lounging. Seems pretty rare for me to sleep or even camp where there are trees as I am very often in the desert. So getting a hammock has been pretty low on the priority list. I know you are suggesting it for the trailer here but I also like to do motorcycle camping where a hammock could potentially work really well. Anyways.. I dread to think of the lost sleep while getting used to any new sleeping arrangements, the older I get the less I seem to get good sleep. I had a look at some of that brands products quickly and I'll keep them in mind. Thanks! :D

I’ve scoured the internet for replacements and have come to the conclusion that I need to make my own. Was hoping for a huge favor and checking to see if you would be willing to send measurements of yours by chance so I can attempt to duplicate?

      Good morning, Kenny. While that road is fine enough, you should know that near to the end of it is a sand dunes motorized recreation area. Lots of activity. Great if you are into it, but not really my thing. Lots of good roads in the area though, as you will see in the coming videos. :D

      With a couple of National Parks within stone throwing distance, you can be sure the scenery will get better! For rocks, I remember finding some on this trip but nothing super spectacular.

      This video series was recorded in November of 2021. Over 3 years ago. I like to think that camping trips are essentially timeless. These places change so little over the years that "when" hardly matters at all. Though it is nice to see Gypsy so energetic in these older videos.

      I had a gander at the C03 just now. Nice clean cut on that jacket. Rated at level 3 on warmth. If you need a hooded Carhartt jacket this Utility Jacket is really nice. With extra large size on the hood, one can really sink into the shadows of it, like Aragorn waiting for the Hobbits at the Prancing Pony. Only rated at level 2 for warmth, but it seems pretty stout and warm to me! :D

    Yep great intro really built up excitement. I bought a 4x4 Silverado with Vortex V-8, it has a lift package, tow package and running boards. (King Cab with butterfly doors) I never laid eyes on it until the day it was transfered to me. I sent my daughter (who is my mechanic!) to inspect it. All I wanted to know was the motor good, yes the motor is excellent. The day I bought it I found out the running board was as high as my knee. For a 69 year old that is a problem. Granddaughter came up with the solution - a step stool with a rope tied on it (to haul it in after you get in the truck). My step stool is a dollar store plastic step stool lol. I wanted a truck with higher clearance for traveling in creeks and dirt roads with wash outs. This truck matches my need but I still miss my Jeep Grand Cherokee (it died when the motor blew two pistons). I do like your step better than mine because it is adjustable and has non slip strips on it!

    • @camplapidary
      @camplapidary 19 днів тому

      Good morning, Patricia! Grandma in a monster truck! :D I bet the plastic step is perfect for your use. I could imagine dragging this one up and into the truck might scratch things up. It's pretty sturdy at about 5 pounds and a good size to boot. Perfect for the trailer I think, shouldn't blow away even in those locations I frequent where the winds are legendary.

      I like the size of this trailer. Sure, sometimes I wish it was bigger (6x12) but sometimes I also wish it were smaller (5x8). Having space is wonderful but hauling it around can get expensive.. :D

    • @camplapidary
      @camplapidary 19 днів тому

      6 feet wide by 10 feet long and 6 feet 4 inches tall on the inside. The V nose does add a little to the interior length, about 2 feet. :D

    When I insulated my trailer, I wasn’t going to cut the holes out so I just insulated right over them on the inside, but when I try to use an air conditioner, the negative pressure wouldn’t let me open the door but as soon as I cut out the insulation foamit wasn’t a problem anymore. It’s good to have a couple of small vents, especially in a tight spot like a camper or trailer.

    • @camplapidary
      @camplapidary 20 днів тому

      This is a good point for readers of the comment section! Thank you. I too have noticed a lack of air flow when using the vent fan without at least cracking a window. And that's with the 2 standard vents.

  • @johnmcneil1681
    @johnmcneil1681 22 дні тому

    I’m not nitpicking, but whoever installed those vents put them in backwards. What if it rains when you’re going down the highway the water will go right in.

    • @camplapidary
      @camplapidary 22 дні тому

      No worries at all. These vents are commonly installed as they are on my trailer. The way the vent is constructed it is very unlikely for water to make it into the interior of the trailer. Baffles and such in there. It is thought that the air coming in high and clean on the front and leaving low out the back of the trailer reduces dust infiltration. Someday I'll take them off and reseal them, I don't like that ugly caulking around the perimeter of the vents. Thanks for watching! :D

    • @johnmcneil1681
      @johnmcneil1681 21 день тому

      @ maybe they’re not on backwards maybe mine are on backwards and of course I always think I have the best of everything😬

    • @camplapidary
      @camplapidary 21 день тому

      The guy I bought the trailer from had them installed in this fashion. I think technically mine are backwards? Many camper conversions I've seen people have none at all, personally I like a little air exchange at all times.
