My understanding of the Odd Fellows is that when men couldn't get accepted into the Freemasons (got blacked balled) they wanted to join something so Odd Fellows was started by those men. I want to point out that the men who got black ball could be for many simple reasons like a person dispute over a fence line with a member of the lodge and not that they were necessarily a 'real bad guy'.

Road side problems: I think every man (I do mean male) should check if they believe the person needs help and feels it is safe to do so. Where I live there are dead zone as far as cellphone go and there can be many kilometres before a building or house where you could possibly get help, add to that bad weather - people have died.

I visited a lodge where one of the members told me that years earlier there was three brothers who were running for each of the different parties for the federal election. I asked what was that like. ~ “Respectfully, none engage in character assaults, just talk about the issue and platforms.” ~ wow

Thank you for the comment, as the book indicates and I would agree with, while Freemasonry is not strictly a religion it is absolutely religious in its teachings and ideals. It's not a religion in that it doesn't require a man to align with a certain faith, however it does require a man to have faith in a single supreme being. Understanding this slight parity of being a religion versus being religious is a key concept of the foundation of Freemasonry as we know it today.

6 minutes in, I will say from my limited research that Freemasonry seems to be a "religiously inclined" organization moreso than a religious organization per se. It seems to encourage Brothers to participate in a version of their religions which doesnt quite exist yet, and to help usher that into existence. For some, that "religion" could be science, for others it could be Unitarianism or Catholicism or any branch of Judaism or whatever. For others, they may well see Freemasonry as their religion, but that does not mean that Freemasonry is itself a religion per se. Maybe as I watch the rest, I will have a new perspective, but I did feel inclined to share where I am at on this topic as of now.

Why would good works have to be connected to a religion? Seems like salvation and afterlife are more about religious beliefs than good works??? Anyone can do good works and not be a good person…religious or not… Curious what degrees you each are- likely I missed that in the intro 😬 I’ll check!

If I may make a suggestion - given the rate of evolution of knowledge nowadays it may be helpful to do a "date stamp" at the beginning of each video, tell the camera what the date is. That way no matter when it is uploaded, the viewer will know right away what date it was when the ideas expressed were expressed!

Hello. I am not a Freemason, just a regular guy browsing the internet looking for good teachings. With that being said, this gentleman gives excellent perspectives. From a sociology standpoint, the "battle of the sexes" has been a massive issue in modern society for which new and creative approaches are required. The perspectives put forth by Mr Elias seem to me to contain a very subtle but also profound and clear direction that can be followed to improve understanding, detachment and reciprocity between men and women in modern society. I cant speak to the specifics of the organization of Freemasonry per se, but I can see how these kinds of ideas and perspectives can contribute to the improvement of "gender dynamics" and communication between men and women in the wider world.
