1983 is sitting and waiting on the funds for the project, old carbs are off. Would love this package.
@@walterwilliams6043 thanks for the reply. I think I can do it for around 350 but I don't know if there's a lot of interest. I'm thankful that mine is running great tho. I hope you get her going soon.

@@JayWilder-e3p bro, I’m sorry but every time I reply, the reply disappears for some reason. I don’t know if I’m replying over and over to the same question or not. Anyway, the intake is plastic. Thanks for asking.
I left the Facebook group too bud. Nothing more I can learn there. My clutch lever lands soon I'll finally get to test drive my swap. Longer version of heat testing is on my channel. I blasted my intake with a heat gun and didn't get any change, maybe even dropped a few RPM. I am thinking your plastic intake is superior as it is much less prone to condensation than metal. Lucky for me it was my first try and didn't have to retry over and over. Keep it up, maybe start another Group that allows open discussion.

I don’t know much about the carburetor. It has Motorcraft on it. They’re 60 W of heat that’s thermostatically controlled so there’s a duty cycle. But after I’m on it for about 30 minutes, it shuts off completely runs great either way the heat is applied directly to the bottom of the intake manifold. I think I have some other videos about it. The intake manifold is a design that I’ve been working on for over a year. I sell them on eBay. If you wanna take a look, search for LLMWALL7
Is that the pinto carb ? What jets and how much heat ? What intake ?
Stock carbs are the way to go throw the 30/32 carb away blow your idle passages out 83 screw out 79-82 press in. God they run good on stock carbs

Yeah it's a weber/motocraft progressive 2 barrel. I'm not sure of the details
I just put your manifold on and I tested it with and without heat and I can’t tell any difference. I haven’t tested on the road yet but sitting there it’s great. I’m sure thermal properties of plastic ba metal comes into play but how is your experience with heat?
@@jaredgrow Bro! That's awesome. Sometimes you won't need heat. But if it starts running rough, don't waste time and energy looking at other things. When there's condensation in the runners, drops of unburnable gasoline will be dripping into your cylinders. Usually you can start it up without heat then in a few minutes you start to notice rough running, gas smell, dripping from the pipes etc.
Honda Designed it that way works way better than a single Carb. conversion.
@@cerealtiller thanks for the comment. All I know is my own experience with both. Which happens to be a lot. For me this works better than 1984 carburetors running on modern gas. I have my reasons. Run as many carbs as you want amd have a good time.

Its been a month, have you figured oit the issue?
@@familyengineering5591 there's no issue. It runs great on the 2 barrel. It's a 34 pict 3 from Amazon. Cost $59 a.co/d/9cDoVi6 Gracias!
Thats alwasys an option . I live in the desert and I would rather avoid messing with the coolant system at all with this. My 34 pict 3 was jetted 55/127 and it ran great. Thanks for the compliments on the design.I made the bottom flat and that in itself should grab some heat. The intake itself is finished. I'm about o post a 1 barrel version as well as a 2 barrel version on ebay for around 120 each. Thank you
Have you tired running coolant lines underneath the intake runners? Also did you have to rejet? My buddys dad used a pic32, weber i think it was, for his vmaxx. That is a sleek design though!!
I'm trying to avoid involving the cooling system. Less to worry about.
@llmwall7 I hear yah there, especially where you are at, I don't think my buds dad had given thought to a new runner design with a more efficient use of surface area , the coolant hoses running in between the runners did well enough I guess for no complaints. Though there was still condensing it wasn't negligible enough at the time to have warranted diving in how you have had to.
Are you going to be producing kits for this?
@@jokerxboards8007 maybe. It's probably gonna be awhile. I could put together a kit for the 1 barrel right now but I'm still learning the two barrel. I've been selling the intakes for 120 plus shipping. A full kit for the one barrel would probably be around 320

@@max1chase166 thanks Bro. Yeah I made the air cleaner but it's a little off center. I gotta do it again. I'll have it fixed before adjusting anything
I was wondering if you could tap into the exhaust system and bring that heat up toward the carberator???
@@Sojourner_40 yeah but the intake is plastic. There's no need for intense concentrated heat. What's needed is low grade high volume heat. Thanks!
That is a good concept because Volkswagen did that concept for interior heat.
@@llmwall7 But running a small line tapped into the exhaust will lower the exhaust temperature and have it dispersed from underneath your heat panels, add a damper valve to add or shur off heat from exhaust as needed.
prime temp for the intake itself is only about 120 degrees. That's why I thought of this. It's not too hot but it's widely dispersed so it's perfect and it's also in the perfect position. I just gotta get the intake to absorb it. So fsr it looks like it's work. Need more scientific test to prove it but that's next. Thank you
Buddy has a 90's Vmax with the single carb conversion, man when that secondary opens up its like nitrous! Lmao

Will the intake with the heat exchanger built in be sold to the public in the future. I’m running a single Holley 1940 and aluminum intake on my 77 GL1000. It was a kit made by Innovations Inc about 20 plus years ago. It runs fat or rich and gives poor mileage. The main Jet is a 53 and I’m looking at dropping it down to a 48 or 50. What plugs are you using. The kit I have came with plugs, but I’m not sure of the heat range as I got the bike in pieces and the plugs were missing. I’m running the plug that Honda specified for the GL1000. I’m a member of the Facebook group. Look forward to hearing from you. John.
@@BYTOWNRYDER people keep telling me to use non resistor plugs. But right now I'm running ngk dpr8ea. I've sold a few intakes already and hopefully more soon. If the heat exchanger works it'll change the game. I'll keep you posted here and on the group as well. Thank you

@@calvinforney6570 yes. I sell them already. The intakes sell for around 120 and the full setup for around 300. The reason I say "around" is because the price is different depending on if we have to use ebay or not. Ebay takes about 20 percent so I try to avoid it. Why are heaters needed for the Carburetor?
Fuel and air mixing drops the temperature inside the intake drastically. Without heat fuel condensation on the inside of the intake causes the engine to run rough and inconsistent.
@@llmwall7 Which is why Honda used 4 Carbs with Short Intake Stubs a and the Top front Engine mount Plate acted as an Anti chill Baffle. Clever old Honda.
@@cerealtiller it would be great if those old carbs would handle modern gas
have the .STL file for that manual choke and how did it end up working out?
Nice setup, mention what you did with the Reed Control Valve and how you sealed the intake pieces,
I ended up putting silicone around the boots. What do you mean reed control valve?
I just Googled it lol. I took that off and capped the 4 hoses. Until I come up with something better.
Dang either that timing is spot on or you got that carb tuned perfect, mine would start easy but tuning it to accept it under power is another,Great job.
Did you ever try heat on your single carb setup? I remember seeing you made something to trap heat but did it help? You might wanna try to heat your intake or carb directly. When I applied heat is when mine started running good. I was able to get the jets and adjustments dialed in. Heat made a big difference for me and I live in the desert. It might be worth a try if you go back to the single.
Man you are a Warrior to do that ride in 45 degree temps, I would have to wait until spring or summer, Great video, on testing the heaters but the bike ran like a champ. Keep those gloves with you brrrr, :)
Thank you. I had to do it for science. Luckily it has a big windshield on it.
I’m waiting for someone to try a Holley EFI self learning fuel injection system instead of a single carb…
That's cool. I'd like to find someone to work with in something like that. I can make it custom to fit any throttle body as well as fuel injector bosses made right into the intakee runners.
@@llmwall7 I’ve done a fuel injection conversion on my 75 gl1000 using aftermarket ecu and 4 itb’s. But its been a lot of custom parts to get it running.
@@llmwall7 on the holley setup the injectors are built right into the barrels. Its a plug and play setup to replace the single carb.
@@ronniebornman4122 is there a crank trigger or something?
Gotta be. Also o2 sensors etc
I learned everything I need to know for a Facebook group called "Single Carb Swap". The bike is running great on the 34 pict 3 clone. I designed and made my own intake and developed the heating system.
That setup will never be perfect... Put a plenum above the carb and duct warm air from the radiator into the throat. You're not going to settle for electric heat in the way that you're going because you'll never have enough. Duct warm air from the radiator and regulate the amount of it. Additionally, your runners aren't heated. They need to be heated as well. CM85
Awesome video! I'm doing the same conversion on my Gl1100. May I ask what size main jet and idle jet you're running?
55/127
@@llmwall7 Also if I may ask, where do you hook up the vacuum timing advance hose on the solex 34 carb? There seem to be 2 vacuum ports on the carb.
I plugged all vacuum ports on the carb and used the vacuum line coming from the intake downtube.
What intake are you using?
im 25 i daily a 2017 yamaha fz10 lol... but im super into older bikes, especially the old goldwings and the calvacades. I would def get one of these things when im older and mod it with all updated modern day gauges.. would be sick! cool video man!
I kinda had a thought about that. You could get real crazy with a raspberry pi or some arduinos and make a cool dash or control system.
The elevation you're at is not too much more than your bikes total miles
Why not try to take some heat off the headers with a double pipe? Like the old carby Toyotas
Electric is way easier. Plus I can heat my carb before I even start the engine. And I don't have to mess with the exhaust.
Debating on doing this swap. What conversion kit did you use
