I rescue vintage sewing machines. All metal*, thank you. I fix them up, and give them away.
*OK, textolite and bakelite are allowed, but the rest has to be metal!

I got some sparkly thread (Thanks Laura!!) and made another bobbin winding video, once again featuring the Davis VF2.

I finally found out why I had all that slop on the hook shaft of my Singer 206K25. Correction:The adjustment point I identified in the video is NOT the timing adjustment screw (that would be the 3 screws around the collar), the screw indicated is specifically for adjusting the distance between the hook and the needle.

Fascinating, German engineering at it's best. So quiet with the treadle. Where does this rank in your fav list ? Subbed and hit the alarm and thank you for such a cool video :-)
I've got one....in many different colors.
I have one of these and i need to find a new home. I am downsizing. Any ideas on how to find someone who will like it<
Wow what a gem of a machine ! I am envious :- 0
Hi, just one quick question: the chrome thingy under the stitch length dial on this machine-- is that the reverse control?
I have exactly the same model that I inherited from my mother. Made in England and sold in Canada around 1956. It works beautifully. I use it regularly.
I just lover your videos. Love them.
Does this 319W have a reverse anywhere on it?
Yes...
Great job! Makes me realize I need to get after the grime on mine! Mavis
thank you for charing this fine machine. I`ve got the same. Do you have also the automatic slides? ua-cam.com/video/Ja5WORI78-c/v-deo.html
Still the best film of 2022 ...

I just purchased one exactly like this, same machine & the same cabinet! So awesome!! I started working on mine the day after I got it home. That is an awesome removable tray on yours. Mine didn't come with that piece. These White Embossed machines are getting real popular with collectors. Thanks for the video! 😊
Are you ok? I haven't heard from you. Can you let me know how the quilt is going?
I could watch this forever!!!
I like this one better than #1. Want to know why? You know that screw in the middle of the winding mechanism that has a chewed up slot? Every time it came around I stopped being entranced by the thread winding and looked at the chewed up screw. And it was more in the screen on the first video and it bugged me. Every single time around. 😀 Awesome job though Lucille. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Whew, thankfully I'm in the clear. I do use just my big toe sometimes tho....
Great video! What a cool machine! Thanks for sharing
Well done video. If more people knew how to use these controllers, properly there would be more happiness in the world.
HAHAHA excellent. If more people created nice things with vintage sewing machines, also.
Really cool❣
Brilliant.
True Color...like a rainbow!
I really didn't know if this was going to work. But it is mesmerizing! Hypnotic! Magical!
I love watching my bobbins wind on my vintage machines. I meditate on the people who watched the same thing on these machines over 100 years ago. I like that connection to the past.
I would soooo love one of those machines! Love your videos!
Poetry in motion. Poetry. Steven Spielberg eat your heart out.
Wonderous!
Love these videos. Love them. I just love them.
What a great video! This is so interesting. The bobbin case and the shuttle do move side to side and indeed there is some up and down movement as well. I never would have guessed this.
I feel like I'm learning so much by shooting these videos! Definitely going to shoot all my rotaries, trying to think of what kind of shots I can get on a VS machine ;)
@@LucilleCarmichaelPDX I believe I understand, when the machine is running, the movement of the bobbin case is simply not all that obvious. Being able to look at it in slow motion really does reveal what's going on.
I made popcorn to watch this and sat there eating popcorn and nodding my head and then at the magnetic moment my eyes got really big. Life is good.
I had no idea that the bobbin case moved like that every stitch. That is so good to know and it explains the noise that rotary hooks make. I had no idea.
I'm now wondering if most rotary hooks do this! Will be shooting my other rotaries to compare :)
@@LucilleCarmichaelPDX The hook assembly on my Singer 319 seems to do something similar. It moves side to side ever so slightly. It's silent when it runs without thread, but clicks when threaded as the thread pulls it side to side. Have you tried running the machine without thread to see if it stays in one place like my 319 does? Looking forward to more of your videos.
@@r.duroucher225 Sounds like I'm gonna have to continue with the rotary theme :) I'll shoot my 319-W next ;)
@@LucilleCarmichaelPDX I am so looking forward to that! The 319 is my favourite flat-bed machine. I've been meaning to double-check the thread gap measurement on mine to make sure that I've got it just right, but life and work keep preventing me from doing so.
I love this video. Love it!
A brilliant video. Thank you for posting it!
I have my 3rd great grannies 1847 Domestic brand coffin top. Very similar, even the ring drawer pulls are similar. Mine has 6 drawers though. Mine has been used so much, you can't even tell there ever was any decals. Gorgeous treadle. Dang! Three keys? My dad had to make me s new one from an old key. Maybe he will make me another one someday. I just have to find a vintage looking blank. The remains of the manual? Good thing it's a coffin top treadle. 🤣 mine has a sheet full of provenance, who owned it and when etc, but no manual.
I have a Domestic-manufactured Minnesota A (Singer 127 clone) that is a fine machine, actually IMHO a better 127 than the Singer 127, somehow LOL. I still have NO idea how to conserve the manual. It crumbles at any attempt to unroll it. I have more research to do on that matter!
@@LucilleCarmichaelPDX Acid paper is really hard to conserve. Museums would know how to unroll it. If you can manage to unroll it get some high resolution photos since the paper won't last forever at this point.
@@rosameryrojas-delcerro1059 Thanks!

Oooo! What a beauty! That strange attachment is interesting 🤷♀️
I've learned it's an "Automatic Scallop Plaiter". I know..." what?" LOL
Which country is it from?
These were manufactured in Cleveland Ohio, where White was based.
Simplemente una belleza sin igual...!!
Happy Birthday!!!
Those garters at the end! I remember when things like that could be found in my Mom's sewing machine drawers (and bureau drawers) way back in "ancient history." (I am 69.) :o) Loved seeing all the treasures you found.
