Her diction is so very covered… a lot it’s just on and off. She either sounds like a siren or a plummy sound floating on breath with no chest connection on the lower voice. It all sounds the the same. It’s not Italianate at all. Indeed it’s very American churchy kind of thing, like everything is some melting or mothering prayer. Maybe it is all prayers to her. I find it rather preachy and feathery, many times the whole point of the aria gets lost with short bursted phrases or a sudden aggressive sound. The folksy chats between numbers is far too familiar. And the mention of Price was just weird in her own recital. I think she is still growing despite the gigs everywhere. I think with a more bitten diction and less covering she would shine as the lirico spinto she obviously is.
