    This rifle has a most beautiful bark. I love the sound, thanks for sharing this video. I don’t know about this "breaking in the barrel", business, my Tikkas just said to pre oil & enjoy. No salt, no pepper, no problems. Hundreds of rounds later, the rifle is still shooting straight and eats everything that I feed it. I’m no gunsmith, just a fan of firearms. Thanks again!

    Some companies give a break in procedure to keep people from continuously asking how to break the barrel in, even though it makes negligible diference.

    Awesome rig bro. I just got my 1500 mini in .223 (can't handle the recoil of full size cartridge due to shoulder injury). I also got a Bell $ Carlson M40 style stock and a Riton 3X 6-24X50 scope. Working on bedding right now and hoping it will shoot as great as yours. Looking forward to watch your part 2 of this project.

    Ammo made with a Lee loader held a 1000 yd record for 7 years. You can make quality ammo with these loaders. Even with everything I have I still use one now and then. Good video.

      I just ended up with a 22 hornet, 223, 303 British, and 243 lee loader. Have both vintage 10 gauge versions. Been reloading or decades and just started getting into them. They are fun to mess around and play with. Great for bug out kit!

    The Lee Classic Loader is so cheap a way of making rounds, that it should not be what any experienced re-loader should be recommending for newbies to use. That is basically a hail-Marry way of reloading while the world is coming to an end. Yes it would had been a decent way for Neanderthals to reload, yet in this day and time it is really lacking big time in it's abilities to make a decent round. So my advise to any new re-loader is to not waste your money on a Lee Classic re-loader kit. Buy decent tools that will not need up grading as any tool that will not be a lifetime tool is a waste of money, and a pain to use until one finally decides to get a decent version. Buy once cry once, as opposed to every time you use a cheap tool.

      Lee loaders work very well for strait walled cartridges and can yield very consistent ammo believe it or not. Much like other Lee equipment, the price is low and the value is high

      …yes indeed. The Japanese people are very skilled when it comes to manufacturing almost everything, but the quality of the firearms they produce has always been high. Even Fender guitars made in Japan during the 90s are much more desirable than their American made counterparts, which really improved the quality of American made Fenders since. Look at the quality and beauty of any Browning Rimfire rifle. They’ve all been made in Japan for years now.

    I’ve built up two Howa rifles. Both were 6.5 CM. One a 24” heavy barrel, and current one is 26” heavy barrel. Mine have ran almost only handloads, but they are still the two most accurate rifles I’ve ever worked with

    I put one together with a 24" 6.5CM barreled action, MDT, 20 degree, Harris Bipod, Bushnell 6-24x50mm Match Pro. I don't break my barrels in, just don't overheat them. After five or so rounds, I got touching @100 yards all day long. I did a 1.25 inch five shot group at 300, and can hit the steel at 400 easily. I just found a 22-250 barreled action to replace the one I burned out (that caliber is dangerous) and will put that one in a Boyd stock that I stiffened up, epoxy with brass pillar bed, and 1/4 " brass plate parallel sliding surfaces. Howa is excellent. I use a Vanguard straight from the factory in 6.5 CM for hunting.

    What size patch , jag and cleaning rod did you use to clean out the bore during the break in process?

    • @blackwatcharms
      @blackwatcharms Рік тому

      I use the J Dewey Rod that is coated. It was just a small pierce jag as I forgot my nylon brush. Normally I would use a nylon brush that is a little smaller then the caliber and wrap a patch around it. Use that with the cleaner and then the jag with the dry patches.
