what to do when moving to a new city alone
I’m going to Australia for a YEARR, and I’m leaving g in two weeks!!! I’m so excited, but I’m struggling to figure out how to pack for the weather there
It was really valuable watching your video!! I just came back from my study abroad semester and also had the culture shock. I miss the English friendliness, the casual smalltalk in stores while Germans tend to be quite reserved. I also loved the routines and the environment and have to move back to a city from a small town, which is overwhelming. Coming home is also strange, cause these places are so familiar and normal for me - yet I got really immersed into English culture and a part of me feels estranged from this place. I love my study environment and almost didn't wanna leave, but there is also so much I appreciate about the life I had! I really hope I can work in a field where I can travel and have international communication! And will try to take the explorer and travel vibes with me as much as I can. But I was genuinely astonished how the time abroad changed me!
I'm seriously considering moving abroad to study because I really feel that I don't fit into the society of my country. However, I don't know if that is the right reason to move abroad plus, I'm afraid of feeling homesick :(
I am about to go into my freshman year of college and i was wondering if you could make a video on the essential things you'd need for your dorm room or things you don't need?
You hit the nail on head talking about when you come back people trying to put you back after you've changed so much, simply because their world hasn't. I've been abroad 5 years and experienced this 2 weeks ago. Even though it's been 5 years, the amount that happened for me would take them 20 years in their stagnant situation. So I don't blame them.
Omg i was in London 🇬🇧 for school break for like 2 weeks in my best friend’s house ( I live in France) it was so good I came back in France for school again and I started feeling sad I don’t have any appetite I miss her so much I cry every day I’m starting to take some distance with my friends at school every night I’m in my bed thinking about her she’s my best friend a love her so much she’s so kind and the fact that we can’t see each other because she live in another country just breaks my heart I know her since we’re kids I would give the world just to be with her she’s the most kind person I’ve ever seen in my life and I keep thinking about it I tried to told myself that it’s temporary and I’m gonna forget this feeling about missing her but without her I feel so lonely I consider her like my sister she my family and idk I want to book I flight just to see her but because of school I can’t …
I moved abroad and now I am starting my second semester. Please people that have experience or already feel better comment below. I thought that everything is fine the first semester otherwise I had hard times. But the moment I went home for Christmas the goodbyes were so difficult. I feel strange like everything is hitting again. I compare myself to others and I feel so stupid.
Tickling someone on a first date... that's insane
I moved three times last year and finally settled now, first day of 2025! I hope this new city can feel a bit like home 😊
While I’d like to see more normalizing telling how it is, it can be uncomfortable or even dangerous. Say you forgot your cat’s medication.
You’re so cute and seem so sweet!
What were the dimensions of your suitcase?
perfect woman !!
you are so pretty...

I was asked what I look for in a relationship. Apparently a way out. wasn't the right answer. 😂
Good video. Funny.
Thanks for sharing, Katie. Wishing you lots of holiday cheer! 🎄🎄I appreciate your thoughtfulness in keeping their identity private, and I admire how gracefully you handle difficult situations. You did a great job navigating unpredictable waters, especially near the bridge, lol. You truly are a good sport.
Feliz Navidad from Mexico 🇲🇽 ❤!
Go on a date with me?
Liked the Dating adventures, Wishing you s Happy Christmas ❤❤ .
Sounds like you'd make a great therapist if people keep blurting personal information at you. You can always set the alarm on your phone to go off an hour or so into your date, pretend you've just been texted about an emergency and you need to go to give yourself an out. Top class earring modelling, and merry Christmas (if you celebrate) and a happy New Year.

I love that you also call Erasmus EURasmus. I used to do that too! Then I learned who Erasmus is -- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erasmus. It's the name of the programme that funds students in the EU to study abroad in other countries within the EU. because Erasmus travelled around Europe a lot for education. I'm not sure about the Erasmus club (?) you mentioned now since Brexit, but at least previously the UK also participated. Then Erasmus Mundus is the EU programme for funding non-EU students to study in the EU :)
I'm from South Africa and really want to go to UCT because it's my dream university but I my depression only progressively got worse during my school years and for whatever reason I struggled to even achieve a Bachelor's pass for my matric rewrites during the 2 gap years I took after matriculation in 2020. Now I'm studying a law degree I'd never seen myself studying at an overpriced private institution known as Varsity College and I just want to transfer to a university but that will mean only transferring in my 3rd year if I apply next year. I completed a Higher Certificate on Legal Studied in order to get into the undergraduate Bachelor of Laws programme at this college but I didn't even achieve a 65% GPA for the Higher Certificate or even my 1st year in the degree so I just feel my hope of actually being accepted at my dream university dwindling. It socks even more because I'm 22 and I have a really smart cousin who achieves 80s and 90s at the same school I went to and she's currently in Grade 11 but I know she wants to go to the same dream university and I know she'll definitely get accepted to anywhere she applies. I don't know why but I just never even knew that we had to apply to universities with our grade 11 marks so I didnt even try that hard. And in grade 12 I just struggled mahn. I really don't want to feel jealous over all of my cousin's new experiences at my dream university but yoh the fact that my life choices feels like it's all crashing on me now. I would have really lived the experience to be at my dream uni but it's all so competitive, i feel like even if I try my best at 2nd year at college now or even re-do my matric results it still won't be enough to get in and that just sucks because I'm willing to study the hardest I've ever had if I were to get in. It feel like I've been doomed form the start but it was my own ignorance that got me here and now there's no fixing it
if you can get a close friend to move in with you it makes life so much easier
thanks for the update!! missed ya <3
This is such a helpful video, thank you soooo much ❤ I’m half Tunisian and half Scottish and I’m always missing one of the countries 😢
Thank you, sweetie. A friend also shared the 3 month thing from her experience! 43 YO and about to make the first move…pray for me, y’all? ❤
1:46 Did you and my mom talk??
I'm in the 4th month living abroad and studying for medical school. It has been pretty hard, but now I'm determined to do something about my sadness. I truly want to enjoy this process, 'cause I know I'll miss these days somehow. Thanks for your video, it really inspired me and changed my perspective about the way I'm living. (Sorry for the english and Hi from Brazil❤)
What lovely suggestions! You’ve put so much thought into each item, which makes your gifts truly sentimental. It’s also great that these gifts are budget-friendly and environmentally conscious.
Scotland do some amazing gins. The Botanist is my absolute favourite. I really recommend 😊
If Ana Luisa is carbon neutral does that mean they're unsure about diamonds and pencils? They should contact you for a sponsorship because you looked really elegant with those studs in.
It’s been 5 months and I still cry about every single day. Today I found some vlogs I made and I’m devastated, how I was smiling the entire video. Someone please make a Time Machine 😭 I never ever liked living in my home country, I remember asking Santa as a child to make my dad’s job move him to the us or Canada. I never liked my life here and coming back it’s exactly the same as it was before I left. Anyway trying to find a college or university that I can afford so I can leave again asap
really helpful thanks!
This is so cool! I'm also from the DMV and looking into doing a Masters course at UAL. So much content about the school but there's so little international graduate level content, so thank you!!
Hey Katie! This is completely unrelated to this video but I was wondering if you talked about accommodation at the University of Edinburgh in any of your videos? Your videos have been super helpful!
You are so insightful! Your videos are so reassuring! I’ve study abroad and plan to move abroad so this video is so helpful!
Thank you for this video ❤
So this is so random but those clips in Scotland that u showed with that wire bridge is somewhere that i went as part of a school trip and i would love to go back but i have no idea where it is! Do you know the name of the walk?
I’m on a year abroad, studying in Santa Barbara, CA! And I’m actually from west of London so I am really gonna use this when I go back next year when I study in London again 😂❤❤
Your videos are very informative and interesting. Do you have a way to receive donations? Thanks for sharing. And yes, tix for Wicked on Broadway are $210 or even $305 for Saturday. I do prefer to go when I can get tix for less.
Wasn't really an option when I studied in London, but they've now opened a load of cycle lanes so you can pretty much get around zone 1 without the Tube. Some routes cut through the parks so you can avoid the big roads. And if the city life starts to feel too urban, there are indoor beaches scattered around the city, as well as city farms where you can walk amongst wildlife. Good video, Katie.
Just watched Ryan Sedgwick's compilation of cycling in London. I now wouldn't advise cycling, or driving, in London.

As an European, I don't get the purpose of top sheet. Just use a duvet cover, it is much more functional, protects the duvet/comforter way better. It comes in sets with a pillowcase and sometimes bed sheets too
It's always so hard to explain to people who never found a new home in another country how alien my home country feels now. I spent 14 years in the UK, most times in London, I studied there and got married, now that's over, the city is too expensive on my own especially heartbroken and lost. I moved back to my home country which is Hungary and I really hate it here. When I'm with my family at home I feel at home but on the street, in shops, talking to other people is so awful, I hate my own mother tongue which makes me feel guilty and stupid all the time not to be able to express myself properly in hungarian. But it's still the safest and most comforting option to return home. I have to remind myself to be greatful for my family as too many people wouldn't have this option open to them at all. Sometimes we need to take a step back to move forward again.
I always think of Neil Young's "Heart of Gold" when I think of Linda Ronstadt. She sings backing vocals on that.
loved this video :) always love to see a notification that you've posted!!!
Loveee this video :)
