I wish I would've traded mine for one with less issues instead of getting rid of it.😢 BK2 with boost leak after first oil change. No one would work on it...DFW area.😢
@@Ricobaca damn that’s crazy that no one would work on it :/ good news is that there a lot cheaper now
2013 3.8 Coupe. LOVE It... HOWEVER> Does anyone here have the squaking in the gabin 😢 It DRIVES ME NUTS.
YESS!! tbh its the worst, but my exhaust and music fades it out.
@@Bk2.Kantrell amen to that hahaha
@@colophus1735 Ik there’s a fix to it but it only happend once I chipped my bumper:/
@@Bk2.Kantrell yeah it seems like a hard fix too
I always advise to try to stay away from getting and using wheel spacers. Even if they are hub centric. You may not have the problems at first but they do add a bit of excessive wear onto you suspension components. One day if you decide to get wheels and want to avoid using spacers, research the different wheel offsets for these cars! currently I have +22 offset and added some camber as well so that i avoid rubbing. It sits really flush!
@@kiddestoliver I appreciate your advice and yeah the wheel spacers are my temp setup until I get my wheels which 22 offset was what I was going for. Gonna def need coils first then wheels.
sheeesh was the shift knob 70 shipped or more with shipping? love the color bro one of my favorite colors they came in 🔥
@@landlockedentertainment I think it was before shipping total was like 80$ and honestly I was skeptical about the red with the blue car but it looks great!
@@landlockedentertainment damn it’s crazy I’ve been watching ur vids lool cleanest genesis rn🔥
@@Bk2.Kantrell i’ve been looking for a new knob i like that style and have only ever heard good things about them! that’s dope appreciate that! I definitely am about to make some more videos on my genesis!
Nice! I have a European Spec Hyundai Genesis Coupé 3,8 BK2, Solo performance catback, lowering springs and Bilstein B8. Wheels and Tires are 20" 9,5 front 10,5" back continental 235/30 and 275/30 with 5mm spacers on front
@@petergrandien1440 damn 20s that fitment must be nice 👌🏾
@@Bk2.Kantrell people here in Sweden, where I live, come over every time I park my car. I have the Swedish IMAZ 10-spoked concave wheels.
@@Bk2.Kantrell The stock wheels are super heavy, replacing them for lighter wheels and good rubber will make you notice both better performance and better grip.
Real reasons not to: timing chain failure/issues, its a gdi motor= garbage, they tend to blow up around 100k+ miles when you tune them, the manual version has issues with gear lockout and grinding, every exterior seal leaks, interior isn’t the best quality, tends to wear quickly. The 2.0t is a worse option, that 2.0 in them is also in the Hyundai sonata and they blow up all the time just stock, they also have timing chain issues even worse than the 3.8, they have potential to make good power but again it’s a terribly designed motor, they also tend to burn tons of oil later on.
Kia/hyundai cars are built very badly in general(ask me how I know) they have a very long history of their motors blowing up and their cars catching fire, I honestly have no idea how they’re still in business. My local Kia dealership has replaced up to 130 motors in their cars just in one month under warranty because of premature failure. The Genesis coupe is a cool concept but owning one is a nightmare waiting to happen.
I wish they'd bring it back. A new gen 3.8 Twin Turbo coupe would be mad 🔥.
@@doudymac dude that would be crazy but it’d prolly be super expensive
I have SS Camaro 17 and genesis coupe 3.8 they both amazing ❤no issues
Wow best of both worlds!!
Great Video man. Thank you!!! Just got my 2015 3.8L and really enjoyed this video (even though watching after getting my car lol).
Every Genesis coupe owner, regardless of engine size, need to be using at least a 40 viscosity oil and the 3.8 could use a 50
I still have my 2013 2.0T. Bought it new. Currently sitting at 147k miles. It's my daily commuter now.
@@elantra45 nice! Any major repairs that’s been needed?
Don't get me wrong, why the F.....did you buy the car😅, and those are irrelevant reasons.....stop wining, and give me some good reason NOT to buy it😂
125$ for oil change is insane 😭
Ikrrrr I get pay to get it done lool since I don’t have a place to do it
Love the car, keep the cats in the manifold if you want to keep GTR'ish sound but headers with the right 2.5in exhaust with resonators can kind of save some of the GTR'ish sound. Look into vibrant style resonators if you do true dual 2.5in all the way back from headers. I threw in 3.91 gears and headers in mine and woke the car up like crazy. Subframe collars, megan racing transmission mount, and short shifter make it feel great! Almost a completely different car, especially lowered. Keep the content coming we need more genny content!
Thank you! And I def have to keep that sound haha. Definitely have to do some of those mods to the car eventually and yessir I will!
I sold my 2.0t back in 2019 but I’m probably going to get another one soon once I find the right one. Tips for anyone who sees my comment. If you get the 2.0t first mod is intake. Not for power obviously. But it makes the turbo noises so much nicer.
Just know being in California, mod a your car at your own risk.
Yeah it’s annoying but for the most part if ur not doing anything crazy then cops won’t mess with u.
How are you liking the lowering springs?? I’ve been on edge because I’ve debated on getting eibach but I’ve also heard good things about tein
@@naimnorhadi4374 I like them they feel around stock but handles and looks way better. I will be getting coilovers in the future tho it’s just a temp setup.
I have a 16 R-spec I have had it for 5 months I just did a muffler delete instead of a dual I went with a single I think it sounds amazing especially on rev matching a little over 3k it will start popping like crazy. Still working on my genny definitely need to lower mine and get tint but I feel like it’s coming along will say you definitely gave me ideas and some motivation on mine appreciate it.
@@wyattlauver6856 glad to I’m able to give u some ideas with ur build! And dude them pops are crazy no need for a burble tune hahha. Also I just got tint done last week def worth it to get full ceramic!
I'm keeping my 2016 Genesis Coupe 3.8 stock. I've owned it since 2017 or 2018. I'm keeping the value so I can sell it and buy a G87 M2 or M240i someday.
Keep the videos going brotha love to see other genny owners make content
Thank you brotha and same here I’m actually already subbed to u haha
Cop a solo performance exhaust if you're going to change exhaust, but your choice. Good luck with the build! Just got my bk2 3.8 track, Manny Trans last month. 2nd genny lol traded my first one in for a 5.0 and 2 years later I realized how much I loved the genny so I had to get one back with the 5.0
I will look into to that! And which car do u like better?!
Yes, solo performance is the best. ISR is the second best.
Good shit man You should also get spec d tails for v1 they make a crazy difference in the look of the rear end
@@loganhorvath1349 thank you bro!! And I was thinking of it actually I forgot to mention it haha. But it’s between those ones or the eagle eye tails
@@Bk2.Kantrell I would go with the specd because then you can get clear tails which look nice asl onna blue car
@@loganhorvath1349 yeah I def want some clear tails. I also know the eagles come in clears too, So honestly I gotta look at more vids
@@loganhorvath1349 that’s true clears would be crazy i thought the eagle tails were in clear but it’s custom so I may consider the spec d
Livinh in sweden and thinking about getting one 3.8 but my question is does anyone know how good it is in the snow can i drive it all year around?
@@helanhakanson8394 I’m in Cali so I can’t answer that question good in rain tho lol
Have one, live in Canada. Like any rear wheel drive, you have to be light footed. If you get a lot of snow, you'll bottom out. Having winter tires makes a big difference.
Lots of complaints about the traction control shutting off power during hard acceleration. Most suggest turning it off which also disabled the stability control. So either don't lead foot and leave nannies on or shut them off and drive sensibly. If you are in snow I gotta say Subaru with asymmetrical AWD and the regular WRX is sensible and the STI is not sensible but faster. In Sweden I thought the Volvo and Saab were made for winter. Lots of top rally drivers come from up there. You must be doing something right 👍.
I don’t see these cars that often but god damn do I want one. I like the mods your going to do, I hope one day I can get this car
Yeah I don’t see too many in my area as well :/ I appreciate bro and u definitely will be able too one day! Prices have been dropping lol
Please don't get a Genesis Coupe. Get something better.
2013 2.0t here with 233,000 miles daily driver still going 😂😂😂 same color blue looks so good on that car. Genny Gang!!!!

Here's the entire video to save you time; new car buyer bought a pre-owned car. He is basically saying you should purchase a new 2024-2025 model vehicle and is surprised there is wear and tear on a 2016. (9 model year old car.)
happy to see new genesis coupe content creators on yt as nowadays our cars aren't shown enough love. Keep up the great work brother 🤙
Thanks bro! And yes we need more genesis coupe content creators!!
Because they aren't good enough.
I agree, best car in the world right now
first
The first thing I did to mine was a muffler delete and I only got charged $100
Damn not bad price I got quoted like 200+ for just the muffler delete and 600 with the tips 😤 hella taxing
3.8 BK2 is a great car, love my 2016, don’t use it much these days, in the next months will export it from Puerto Rico to Florida so I don’t have to rent every time I visit Orlando.
Also i have long tube headers from obx for sale and Dc sports downpipes if u wanna stay with the oem cats
About finished installing a turbo kit for my 3.8, just waiting to be tuned!
Alpha speed tune?
Don’t get this cars, genesis never made sports cars i had one and my homie did too and they did not last long
Car looks god man, I just got a 2.0 T as my first car, and haven’t seen it in person yet because I’m waiting to pick it up when I’m on leave. I was curious what shade of blue is your car? The one I got is shoreline blue and Im not sure if you have the same blue or not.
I don’t know the color of my car but I saw that the four door genesis have that color and it looks closer to a Subaru blue I think
2.0ts have a good aftermarket. And a couple good shops in Southern California. I miss my Genny.
Just got the 2.0 one may not be a v6 but imma still mod it
2.0’s have more support mods for it and congrats on the car 👍🏾

11 year owner here. I have a bone stock track model with the Lambda GDI 3.8L V6, the Brimbo brake package, and a set of MD Motoring Chrome 7 mag 18" rims with 225 25 18 up front and 245 45 18 in the back. I haven't dealt with a lot of issues because I always had the scheduled maintenance done in a timely manner. 250k miles on the road, close to 90 oil changes. 1 set of head gaskets. 6 sets of brakes. 1 cat converter, because somebody stole the original, one rear end servicing, a new radiator, 8 sets of tires because I like launching to the speed limit, 3 batteries, 1 starter and solenoid and a Brake light switch that is connected to the ignition system. The cost of ownership hasn't been bad at all. fix a something here or there, that's it. but if everything is ignored, if the car has been neglected, it's going to rack up big time in the shop. If you bought one new, it really isn't very expensive. it all depends what has already been taken care of. and the older these cars get, the more care they need. but to this day, mine is a cannonballer. I've gone twice in it already and plan on doing it again from Long Beach to Manhattan again in april 2025.
i forgot 4 sets of spark plugs. one set every 60k miles.
Honestly not bad at all especially for 250k miles and 11 years on the road!!! And 90 oil changes was that every 3k miles?
I'm never selling my 2013 2.0T 6spd. I bought it brand new and currently have 145k miles.
Wow original owner and 145k miles that’s great to see! Any modifications?
@Bk2.Kantrell Only a custom Magnaflow catback exhaust. Motor and turbo are stock. I use it as my daily commuter.
What exhaust did you get? It sounds good. I don’t think you mentioned it in the video Also how did you get that aftermarket shift knob to fit on your stock shifter? I thought you had to replace the whole shifter to put an aftermarket shift knob? Sorry I’m asking a lot. Can you give us an actual breakdown of what exactly you’ve done so far and how much it cost? I’ve never even heard of that exhaust you have but it sounds really good. Thanks for the videos
Yessir I’ll make a video about the modifications and just do a full walk around as the car sits. Exhaust is Tseudo(CNT)catback, and yes for the bk2 you can get aftermarket shift knobs only brands Ik of is raceseng and billetworkz. I’d recommend not cheaping out on the shift knobs. Catback and shift knob was on sale so idk the cost now
@@Bk2.Kantrell brother I dont even see that exhaust on their website. could you help?
@@LotusCcab gotchu bro tinyurl.com/Tseudo-Catback
@@Bk2.Kantrell This is all you have to get that sound you have on your car?
@@LotusCcab in this video yes I recently did a resonator delete and I’m gonna have a new vid coming for that soon
just curious, but what are the specs of your tires? because ive picked up some BK1 19” RSpec wheels and idk what tire sizes will fit, but im considering 245/40 up front and 265/40 in the rear
I would check the fb forums for that I’m currently on 225/40/19 and 245/40/19
@@Bk2.Kantrell i’ll double check them but thank you! definitely might consider getting them tein springs though 👀
@@_lazypanda38 nice bro!! Lmk if u get it!
Question. What regular maintenance should you do to your genesis?
Regular oil changes( hopefully between 3-5k) is the main on bc the main reason the engines fail if due to oil starvation. And just regular up keeping. If possible I would check the Carfax to get more info on the car.
sick, im getting a 3.8 track genesis tomorrow, so excited to own it
congrats bro!
@@elvato7418 idiot
Did you get it?
@@lispydavid yessir, I love this car
@@unpathetic I bought a 2014 ultimate in 2018 and have owned it ever since. put 60k miles on it (not gently) and never had a check engine light or any failures. I've only done oil, brakes, diff fluid swap.
Do you plan on getting coils at some point? Because I’m debating between springs or coils 🙃 Also, I’m debating between running BK1 19” stocks with spacers or buying 19” Kansei Tandems since I don’t like the 18” black wheels that the previous owner installed. The first option being cost effective compared to the second one 🥲
I’m going to get coils in the future and I think u should too so u can adjust the height whenever u want plus the dampering. In the meantime I would do the stocks with spacers until u get the wheels u want and then the coils
@@Bk2.Kantrell Are you also planning to get spacers and aftermarket wheels in future?
