I don't develop games but websites, before deploying in the test environment I always make sure to crash the app completely when a subtle error could occur. It's best that the testers can exactly tell me what and where is going wrong instead of managing the error and not knowing it was there in the first place. It's actually better to develop this way if you can test properly

Vulkan has more boilerplate code , but if you have your frame work running then you can scale up. Core reason for vulkan is wen you scale up in scope and your game could use multi threading and using all those cores so base for vulkan would be multi command buffer. You could start with simple game but in that case you would 90% busy with vulkan and little bit with game. But wenn you scale up 11th game you get 1st framework where build engine up by refactoring engine out of n-th game. Flying start is use vulkan demo using multi buffer and base feature you need first and build from there. Then you have not waste to much to builerplate code. Because you set that up once till you add more advance features. But that would be 23th game. In my case i have large scope game in mind. And start with the most simplified core of it. So in my case n-th game is more sequel build on features. Like you build IP

100+ fps and big worlds and super highend gfx on a toaster. Well … contrnt makers got a 4080…. but check steam stats for your reality check on normal gamer or just start an Xbox. Entitlement running rampart as per usual. Starting with gameplay is all to complain on AA video rendering texhniques in 4k…. meh
For those saying dynamic arrays are faster or crying premature optimization, you've completely missed the point and are actually just straight up wrong. Dynamic arrays ALWAYS have overhead when resizing, overhead that is unnecessary. It's so much overhead that this practice is incredibly common in the game dev world, and it's called object pooling. It isn't premature optimization when it's a common solution to a common problem. This isn't the 1990's where 13 MB is a ton of memory, this approach is fine.
Okay, this is what I think, just stop doing Anti-Aliasing and live with the consequences. It doesn't look the best, but it's not blurred and you get a higher FPS.

I'm sure they invest in motion blur to hide TAA because nobody wants motion blur in their games as we have eyes that do that for us for free with no shaders

What language are you guys speaking?
You can alway choose to log or crash if you get a zeroed object, heck you could even have an is_valid flag that you check, and if it's zero that means it's not a real object that has been properly initialized. You can use that flag for any form of error handling while. Whether this has any benefits over asserts on null pointers I have no idea.

I'm stuck in the beginning: CMake tells me there's no "project()", it doesn't download the Raylib files and doesn't compile either after using the --build command.

Not very cache friendly to pack data like that and iterating over it. But also a game that is likely not a very demanding CPU overall.
What is more cache friendly than contiguous memory allocation and access patterns? Just the size of the enemy struct being so large?
@@thesquee1838i guess you could split some of the data out into its own array, loke having the transforms and velocity in their own array so you can do physics calculations faster by having all the needed data right next to each other instead of being separated by all that other entity data? Cache lines arent very big and 6.8k per entity is a lot, so if youre trying to do a lot of the same type of operation on al entities at once youre going to get more cache misses if all the relevant data for that operation isnt right next to each other

Big fan of your devlogs! Chill to watch while coding myself. I have a question: How did u setup your game such that you don't have to rebuild it every time you make a small adjustment? Like chancing the HoarderDescription. Is it connected to OpenGL / Vulkan? Thanks in advance!
he is using a 'hot reload' system. It's a system where maybe with a keyboard input you make it so that you recompile certain parts of the program during run-time. Visual studio has a hot reload feature, not really sure how cakez is doing it. If you are thinking of adding it to your game, that's what you're looking for though. a hot reload system.
