This is a nice healthy guide with good messages about buying and career, appreciate the thought thats went into that
amazing video and brother your colors are amazing! I'm a newb at color grading, gotta grab your LUTS!
Thank you for your video, I've been shooting weddings off and on for 20 years now I want to add cinematic videos to my package and on video has helped me the most. amazing thanks again 🎉
glad to hear that. appreciate you letting me know :)
Nah you were in my country! Love the shots of Denmark buddy. Keep up the awesome work. Truly inspiring.
thank you! denmark was truly beautiful
what effect are you using that exposes the photo slowly. i really like it. lovely review by the way! hoping to pick one up soon
thank you! haha it is actually just a white solid placed on the track above that fades out
wow that's really a dramatic difference. I've always been afraid to overexpose the image, and your video explains why my outdoors videos have so much noise!
glad to hear it was helpful. yeah its helpful to know what you can / can't do with your camera. i am not always exposing in this way but it was a fun test to push the camera in some more extreme scenarios
Damn, got lucky with the preorder. I, with no regrets, was ordering st 1 AM lol
haha dang yeah you were on it
How did you color grade the 100vi video?
just my luts and film fx. several videos about my color grading process here on the channel :)
@@blasepivovar thank you
I wish the x-h2s was in a x-t body that would be the perfect camera for me
Feel that. Love a good x-t series
is there any possibility to use flog2 with a view assist/built-in out for rec709? I am searching for hours now...
You can preview the Rec709 image with the flog view assist but the file is still recorded as flog 2 and is transmitted to a monitor as such. Does that answer your question?
@@blasepivovar Thanks! But is it possible to see the image with a Rec709 overlay on the XT-5 screen while recording ? I cannot find a setting in camera... On my Atomos I would install a LUT, but I want to use my Fuji without the external monitor. With Canon cameras you have a so-called "View-Assist", that I am trying to find in the Fuji settings, but I am unable to find it. I went through the whole manual. Thanks again! To clarify: I want record in LOG but see a rec709 picture on the XT-5 screen.
@@klowkowks Yep! Just go to Setup - Screen Set Up - Page 2 - Flog View Assist - Switch to ON. I assign this to the down arrow as a custom button for quicker toggling on/off. Hope that helps!
@@blasepivovar FINALLY THANKS <3
Dude great video “Subscribed” ❤
thank you! glad to have ya here
Not another typical X100 series video. Lovely presentation and beautiful pictures bro, keep creating these! Love you work! Been following your work since long time👊🏽❤️
ah thanks so much man. really appreciate you letting me know!
idk why but you give me Mr.Rogers vibes
hold my cardigan
Will def need those Meadow presets to match the LUTs, I love using those. Also glad to finally see someone who is into video mainly talk about this camera.
glad to hear it! Yeah some folks have asked about photo presets and stoked to finally have some I am completely happy with. So fun to have the video specs packed into this tiny cam
Great video! I have some issues with the ND filter cause for me in flog2 it's often too bright when setting up e.g 25fps//50SS and use for example f4. How do you set up your video ? Looks great :)
Thanks! I break the rules and just bump up the shutter if needed to get everything exposed correctly
Well you want to enjoy the Fuji vibes Grab an old XE-1 or XPro 1 and i guarantee you that you will enjoy the experience way more than the one you got with the latest X100IV …
How so?
@@blasepivovar with these cameras you will get the first Fuji x trans sensor And this one has its own unique look Plus that these cameras makes you think more than twice before taking any shot because both cameras are slow and you don’t get too much features like the X100IV Capturing shots with these cameras brings a joy I know that the new X100 IV is an amazing camera but some how it’s easy to use it with an old Fuji camera you will feel different and it’s worth to try it out Thank you…
@@T-Prime848 ah yeah i feel. what about video? that is actually the primary reason i finally decided to buy an X100 series camera. them improving the quality to the level of the XT5 with Flog 2, ND, IBIS, 4K, 10bit 422 is crazy to have in my pocket and I don't feel like I have to sacrifice quality.
@@blasepivovar I agree but sometimes quality is not everything ..
Great video as usual. You mentioned that you are shooting photos with your own Classic Chrome recipe, do you as well edit JPEG files or RAW files only? Talking about photos only here.
Thanks! All these photos were shot in jpeg and edited with my presets only tweaking exposure and white balance as needed
We need fujifilm xs20 review
haha i don't own one but my buddy John made one: ua-cam.com/video/BKthINHLA6Q/v-deo.html
@@blasepivovar I'm more concern about your point of view, I've seen his already.
I agree with pretty much everything there. For me, the lack of dual card slots takes it out of a camera I would use for paid professional work as it’s just not worth the risk for me at this point in my career. That said, as someone who used the XT3 extensively when I was starting out, I think the xs20 serves a similar market but now has all the added features as a bonus. Hope that helps!
@@blasepivovar thank you but essentially starting video business over so start fujifilm brand. I want the xh2s first but ill.use xs20 instead until then I'll buy xh2s. Prefer xh2s for stack sensor but xs20 will do. Baby mini xh2s
I had the same frustration with the exposure dial and did a little digging. In movie mode you can turn all the dials off including exposure dial. I believe it is called MOVIE OPTIMIZED CONTROL ON/OFF under Movie Settings List. I'm not sure if you can do the same in photo mode, but it would be nice to be able to lock it.
I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip
Fantastic. Great photos, Blase! Fuji just needs to ramp up production! lol
They really do!
Man, why didn’t I discover you earlier!? 😅 pleasure to follow you. However; there is a lot of content and stuff available but you differ because you interpret chic, modern, stylish with a natural eye! Wonderful. Would also be interesting one time to see how and when you operate mf or af; tracking; playing with aperture etc. on the Fuji ecosystem. cya
thanks so much. glad to hear it resonates with you in some way. i'll keep those topics in mind for future videos :)
in short tho, MF for interviews always. AF with face tracking for single subjects. AF using the Area mode is key for anything else. Set the focus box where you want it to focus. Usually am shooting wide open at F1.8 or F2.8 unless there is a real specific need to stop down. Hope that helps :)
Would love to see more on the XT3! Definitely the best looking footage I’ve seen on UA-cam
Thanks! What would you like to see?
@@blasepivovar really anything! More footage of projects you’ve shot on them, lens tests, Side by side comparisons with the xh2-s etc..I shoot on Sony at my job and have an XT3 for personal use and have been thinking of taking on some client work with my own gear but I haven’t been feeling confident in how it would perform so seeing what you’ve captured is inspiring! I’ve been using the 18-55 kit lens though. Appreciate the reply!
@@user-iw9zo5uc6v love that. if you go check out my vimeo, a good portion of the older work on there was shot on this camera and would be a great resource for what you can get out of it. I am trying to focus my channel mostly on what I am currently using but definitely will keep that in mind when thinking about future videos. Really appreciate the detailed feedback :)
@@blasepivovar Makes sense, thank you! I will check out your Vimeo!
How can i get a clean look on Flog 2? When it gets iso to 6400, it looks very noisy already.
I usually just stick with iso 1250 and a wide open aperture. I’ll only go up to 3200 if necessary. For lower light scenarios where 6400 is required I actually prefer classic chrome
Excellent! Perfect description! Calm and chilly voice. That’s perfect for learning. Thanks! 👌
Thanks Daniel 😃
I would love to see a video of a simple XT5 talking head set up. Key light, Mic, and etc
good to know. do you want simpler setups from what I have shown here on the channel already? if so, let me know what the 'etc' would include
@@blasepivovar I loved your video about lighting interviews on a budget and I guess a lot of the same lighting could apply. I would love your take on a simple UA-cam talking head setup. Any advice would be appreciated. I recently started my setup and got an Amaran 200x, an Aperture MC , and a ride video micro. I use a Fuji XT5 for reference.
Great Video! One question I always asked myself when seeing such a setup: Why do you want the edge of the backdrop in frame for the side shot? For me this looks really disturbing, not clean and rough, also unprofessional in a kind of way. Is this what you want to achive? Like a more "natural", behind the scenes look? Thank you and all the best from Germany!
Hmmm. Interesting question. It's not so much that I just really want it to look that way but more of the practical reality of filming against a backdrop and wanting a side angle. Half of the interviews we filmed that were not shown in the BTS here, had the clients branding placed in that corner that they requested to have in the video. I guess to me, seeing the edge of the backdrop isn't an issue as no one is surprised this was filmed in a studio when it is so plain. To me it's just simple and clean, adds a little color contrast and the client was super stoked. Idk hope that helps!
I can't unsee the "Happy Stereo Face" in the background of your office. Is it just me or is anyone else seeing it too? Ha. Anyway! Thank you for this video. It is very helpful to see backup workflows, and I really like your setup. :)
haha i see it. appreciate the kind words!
how are you liking the tamron 17-70mm so far? are you planning to do a review any time soon?
overall like it. some things i dont love about it but for its price, its pretty great. i def do want to do a review here eventually
Great video as alway Blase!
thanks dude! appreciate it
do you think the kessler kwik stand can be substituted for a smallrig multifunctional plate (3913)?
i haven't used it but does look like it would work in the same way!
Blase, any idea how the fringer EF-FX pro iii compares to this 2nd generation? which one to buy? new doesn’t always mean better. price point is almost the same.
pretty sure the iii is just fully weather sealed. other than that, they are the same in performance
Man you know you're a camera nerd when the grip bags make you excited...
haha indeed
Really appreciate this… I’ve been in my head trying to figure out how I’m going to fit an xt5 in my setup as my second camera
glad to hear that. yeah i've still been loving it as a B cam
Nice!
thank you!
That umbrella modifier is a good idea, going to have to try that. Thanks for sharing!
glad you found it helpful. yeah the one stand book light is a game changer for me
Great video, i have both camaras and this is pure inspiration to do something, some day, some how. hahahaha Thanks man
Thank you! They are great cameras and seeing other folks make good work with them was a huge inspiration to me as well. Keep at it
Thanks for sharing! I'm super curious which mono font you used in the video. Lovely.
Off the top of my head I think it's Roboto Mono
@@blasepivovar thnx!
Hey! How are you doing with your soundproofing for the space?
its been great. we didn't set out to soundproof the space but did want to control the reflections and reverb. the panels we added helped a ton cutting the reverb down as it was originally 3+ seconds and hard to even have a conversation
Great video, thanks for sharing !
Appreciate it.
This was bad. Dont worry about broadcast safe, you wont get there.
bummer. sorry to hear
Goat!
thank you
Can you recommend a camera for shooting low light (like in concerts). Not sure if i should go with a full frame and spend a bit more or just go with a aps-c
probs a full frame Sony if that was my only focus of work for the super high dual native iso
@@blasepivovar got a specific camera in mind? Really my only focuse is concert videography and photography (with probaby more focuse on videos). Looking into maybe getting the Sony ilce-7m3, as far as i know (i'm a bit of a newbie) it's pretty good for photography but not sure how goo it is for videography
@@melloooo_ I don't have a specific one to recommend as I don't know much about that niche unfortunately and would hate to steer you in the wrong direction
what lens do you recommend for making UA-cam/Social media videos? or what would be the best go to lens for shooting videos with the XT5
My go to is the Sigma Art 18-35 EF with the Fringer EF-FX PRO II adapter. The Tamron 17-70 X Mount is also a good all around option. If you are just needing one prime lens for those styles of videos and are on a budget, I would consider the SIRUI Sniper series and either the 16mm or 23mm just depending on focal length preference. Hope that helps.
@@blasepivovar thank you that definitely helps 💯
Absolutely beauty..thanks a lot
you are welcome :)
Loving your content dude! I’m thinking of getting a Fujifilm camera as a b-cam for my bmpcc6k. Out of interest why did you go for the XT5 rather than the XT4?
F-log 2 + No record limits
One major positive for the xh2s that no one seems to mention is that it's weather sealed. Very useful in the rain!
Indeed 🤘🏼
of all the Luts I have invested in lately, yours are by far my favourite! I own a C70 and the Meadow Lut has been so good, so im definitely getting these presets to support your beautiful genuine work.
So cool to hear you are getting good use of them on the c70! Really appreciate the support and the kind words :)
THISSSSSSSS was a fantastic video. Great breakdown of how a set should look. We wish you nothing but success on your journey .
thank you 🙏🏼
Love this content, thank you!
glad to hear that. Thanks David!
do you have an updated powering on / off sequence to not fry your hdmi port? thanks
last in, first out with the HDMI
@@blasepivovarthanks! are you pulling your hdmi cable before powering down your monitor each time (not battery swap)?
Yep, correct
