Pondhawk Natural Area walking tour - Boca Raton, FL using GoPro 1080 HD
Was inspired to put this together because a reader of my website in Europe was intrigued by the scenery featured in the tie-in video of a massive beehive on this trail, and was interested to see more:
ua-cam.com/video/a8O0Yqa0978/v-deo.html
I realized I should have made this video anyway a few years ago, but due to laziness never got around to it. So I dug out my GoPro and recorded as me and Tom did a recent walk through of Pondhawk. It was the perfect time of the year for it as well, when the Muhly grasses have turned pink, which they only do during the end of October, and it was the perfect time of day as well, during late afternoon. (So you'll see our shadows here and there throughout the vid.)
This vid also features some scenery of the area just outside of Pondhawk, along the sidewalk that rims the adjacent lake next to the library. It's a beautiful and photogenic area in general, and the library is also one of the best looking libraries I've ever seen.
Best of the best photographs from Pondhawk and the surrounding lake, featuring the scenery, wildlife and foliage:

Massive Honeybee hive upclose - Pondhawk Natural Area, Boca Raton, FL - 10.19.21 1080 HD
Переглядів 1593 роки тому
Yesterday Tom and I decided to take an impromptu trip to Pondhawk - I almost didn't even go, but then made myself because I knew I needed to get out. I'm glad I did, because by total fluke chance when we were walking along the trail he happened to notice this massive beehive up in a tree. And the only reason he even spotted it was because he paused to look closer at some acorns on a low hanging...
Mockingbird Singing in Tree - Boca Raton, FL - 9/30/21 1080HD
Переглядів 1353 роки тому
Mockingbird that lives in a tree in our apartment complex's courtyard. It was on a roll singing at sunset, so I decided to pause in my reading and grab some video. Stood there for over seven minutes holding my Panasonic Lumix camera (DMC-FZ1000) up in the air as still as I could until my arms felt like they were going to fall off. Right when I couldn't take it anymore the bird decided it was do...

Boca Raton, Florida Sunday Morning - 3.31.19
Переглядів 6505 років тому
Went for a bike ride on the El Rio Trail in Boca on a really beautiful Sunday morning, 3/31/19. Golden sunlight, birds everywhere and temps in the low 70s. Deviated over to the Central Park townhouses along Peninsula Corp Circle and found some Egyptian Geese on the roof of a gazebo making a ruckus. Probably has something to do with mating. Also encountered a friendly squirrel, then later on som...
Quail? / Unusual Bird Encounter - El Rio Trail, Boca Raton, FL
Переглядів 3536 років тому
On the way back from my bike ride on the El Rio Trail yesterday at dusk I happened to notice a bird ambling along on the side of the road. What got my attention was the plume on the top of the head, along with the fact that it was, you know, ambling along without a care in the world, unperturbed by my bike that just whizzed past it at over 15 miles an hour. I'd never seen a plumed bird that loo...
Fort Lauderdale Beach to Boca Raton, Florida Dash Cam (via the A1A) 2.25.18

Dash cam vid of my trip from Fort Lauderdale Beach to Boca Raton via the A1A on 2.25.18, made with Street Guardian SG9663DC dual channel dash cam system. This vid is different in several ways from my Fort Lauderdale to Palm Beach vid, but namely because there's no music overlay. It's "au natural." Since a portion of the vid travels through Fort Lauderdale Beach means you need to be able to hear...

[NOTE: Apologies for any pop up ads or stupid ads at the beginning. Those are not my doing. This is a non-monetized site, but YT inserted those in. :/ For anybody who hasn't looked into AdBlocker I *HIGHLY* recommend installing this on your computer to block ads from any website, and especially UA-cam. You'll never be bothered by these pesky pop ups and forced ad inserts again. You can either g...
Critter Gathering at Lake - Iguanas, Wood Stork, Ibises, Moorhens - Boca Raton, FL 10.27.17
Переглядів 1397 років тому
Was biking around the two lakes at Pondhawk/Spanish River Boulevard on a warm, nice afternoon and came across a little menagerie of critters gathered at the lake edge. It was neat to see so many iguanas camouflaged in the grass, including babies (which you can't really see in the vid) just walking around and eating, right next to all the birds. That was the main reason I stopped to make a video...

Awesome sunrise in Boca Raton, FL - 2/25/17 with yachts & kayaker and sun breaching horizon
Переглядів 2737 років тому
Awesome sunrise the morning of 2.25.17 where you can clearly see the sun crest the horizon, which isn't always possible. Many times there is some degree of cloud cover blocking that moment when the sun pops up. The other thing that made this morning memorable was the horizon had a beautiful orange yellow glow just before the sunrise. Later a kayaker launched from shore and a happy dog briefly p...

Keep reporting people to stop replying to your stupid comments, because you are annoying front hole who makes points about things no one cares about. Also your videos suck.
I am so excited. My family (extended family) will be on the beautiful Freedom of the Seas in August 2024. I am an avid cruiser and have been on the Freedom its a beautiful ship. I am excited to see the children enjoy it just as much as we did.

NOTE: YT has an issue, site-wide, with comments. That's the only way to put it. It's all sorts of issues, including comments looking like they're posting, but when you refresh the page/wait 10 seconds they're gone. In other instances comments will look like they're posting if you're logged in, but if you pay attention you'll see that the comment count doesn't actually go up, and if you log out you won't see your comment. So it's not actually there, even though YT is tricking people into believing it's there. Comments that do go through will trigger an updated comment count for the channel owner in the back door section of their channel, but it doesn't change on the main comment page. So you'll see that one EVERYWHERE on YT.......Comment counts that show for example 150 comments, but when you scroll down you'll only see half that, and that includes the replies. Comments that show there are 10 replies, but when you click to expand the replies only 6 are showing up. *Where are the rest of the comments? Where are the missing replies?* YT notifications will tell people - sometimes - that they have a reply to a comment they made, but when you click to go to the reply on the video.....it's being hidden. :/ Meanwhile some comments will trigger notification alerts for the channel owner, but others don't. It seems to be a 50/50 thing, if you're lucky. There's no rhyme or reason to it, it's completely arbitrary. It just goes and goes, the list of issues that I and many others have experienced all around YT, and including on my very own channel. I supposedly haven't had a single comment on a single one of my almost 30 videos in many many months, even on the dash cam vid with over 150K views. That's not right. YT has been screwing with my channel basically. Just like I went for a period of 4-5 months without a single new subscriber, when again I have vids getting thousands of hits per month. I hate YT, but, there's also not a better platform out there in terms of vid quality, audience reachability and other assorted features. But the broken comments sections of so many people's channels, along with the censorship that YT takes it upon itself to impose on comments site-wide, regardless of the channel owner's settings, makes it akin to China. And it's no surprise, since YT CEO Susan Wojcicki had visisted China several years ago, and when she returned.....YT comments have never been the same since. China knows how to censor like nobody's business and how to keep 1 billion+ people in the dark, and YT took a little visit to China to learn how to do the same over here. So hopefully if anybody posts a comment going forward (7/2/23) it will go through.

Carissa Conti your work is professional and beautiful. It is evident that a lot of effort and love was put into your videos. It is a shame that there have not been more people viewing what you've done. They are missing the excellence rarely shown on UA-cam. It is a great honor to have the opportunity to be one of your subscribers. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I appreciate that you noticed. :)
*NOTE:* The first vid is a little shaky, but the rest are much more steady. Did my best in all the follow up vids to stabilize the camera as much as possible. And be sure to click on 1080! Like all YT vids it defaults to 360 for some reason.
Hey! Awesome video!!! The bird at 50:06 is in fact a tricolored heron (juvenile)!
Wooooow. Very Beautiful 😁
💗
Excellent driving tour thank you for sharing 😊
Glad you liked it!
Really beautiful, the light reminds me of Cape Town where I live. Those clouds though seem very artificial, as if superimposed.
Definitely not artificial. I wouldn't even know how to do something like that, nor would I try to do that. I don't engage in fakery with my vids or pics. We just have extremely interesting clouds here in Florida, so I have a LOT of pics of just clouds. Like an entire folder on my computer devoted to just clouds/weather, and also a photoalbum on Flickr of some of the "best of the best": www.flickr.com/photos/carissaconti/albums/72157704725636902 It has to do with being on the ocean and our humid sub tropical climate. Creates a lot of different clouds/weather phenomenon. (and T storms, and rainbows, etc.) The ones at the end of this vid, with the flat bottoms, were really neat looking in particular. I took separate pics of them after we were done recording this vid - with a completely different camera (Panasonic DMC-FZ1000, as opposed to the GoPro Hero4 Silver that was used to make this vid) - which I just uploaded in case you wanted to see: www.flickr.com/photos/carissaconti/51657941460/in/dateposted/ As you can see in the photo details, it notes the camera that was used, and the settings. So, not artificially superimposed into the video.
Wow, you have some amazing camera equipment to zoom like that! Bees are fascinating, thanks for the vid.
Thanks! In case anybody's curious it's a Panasonic DMC-FZ1000.....
They hide in the clouds 🌨️☁️ 🚁🧲
Very nice. Almost idyllic.
Much love and gratitude to both of you.
I can't begin to tell you how many times I've taken an evening cruise along the same route listening to the exact same DJ Dimsa mix! GMTA!!!
Really?? Wow! That's wild!
@@CarissaConti Yes!....back in 2016 when I lived in Delray Beach...as for DJ Dimsa, I'm a House Head from NJ and he's one of my top 5 Deep House music DJ's. His mixes are so soothing & soulful. Thank you again for the video & music, it conjured up many beautiful memories.
@@mikedavis9159 That is just wild, seriously. Because I had like 15 or so DJ Dimsa mixes to choose from, and I scrolled through each, one by one, to see which one was the best in terms of not only matching the scene/vibe of this area, but which was also the most decent music-wise all the way through. Most of them had parts that were okay, but then parts that I didn't like. So it came down to this mix in terms of being the most fitting, vibe-wise, and being the most consistently enjoyable to listen to all the way through. But that's awesome that my vid was able to so accurately duplicate your experience! The only way it could have been more perfect was if it was in the evening!
Excellent!
My old neighborhood!
My old neighborhood!
Beautiful...
Ft Lauderdale has super aggressive drivers and its $4/hr to park at their beach (with dark, hard, course sand). Parts of the city are nice looking buildings but the people are so rude and its so overpriced its not worth it.
What's crazy is when I first moved to Fort Lauderdale in 2002 (lived there until 2004) parking was completely free at the beach on the A1A! Just....wow, remembering back on that. No meters. And the sand was nice, not dark and coarse. It was nice, I used to go there all the time. Sounds like it's really changed. I haven't been there in ages.
i can help with that, the reason why people are so rude now is because they come from new york and points north, i lived in this area from 1969 to 1981 and have gone every year until 2016, it used to be heaven on earth, but like many good things, they eventually get spoiled by people who dont appreciate beauty and good manners, shame!!
Florida weather best in USA
Indeed! As I reply to this it's January 25th, smack in the middle of winter...and it's 79 degrees here in Boca and partly sunny. :) Love it....
And the beautiful birds
Beautiful butterflies🦋💖
FL is beautiful!! Been living here for 5 months now, but let me tell you people are very nasty out here. I haven’t seen people as rude and nasty as they are in FL. The more south you go the worst it gets.... I don’t know if it’s the water of FL or the Newyorkers that they migrate here makes people to behave the way they behave. It’s kinda expensive (I pay $2700 for 2 bed room apt), but hey I am like 10 minutes away from the beach hahah and can’t beat the weather.
I so agree with you - THE-WORST-PEOPLE-EVER down here. It's completely a "parasites invading from the nasty northeast" thing. Any actual native Floridians that I've met were the nicest people. So it's a New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island thing, unfortunately. They come down here and bring their nasty ways and awful "culture" with them. I don't have enough bad things to say about them. :D What sucks is that they can't just come down here and enjoy Florida in its natural state, as is. They have to try to turn it into the subtropical version of the northeast......naming everything after "New York" or "New Jersey." NY this, and NY that, Manhattan this and Brooklyn that, Jersey this and Boardwalk that, in all the store names. It's like.....YOU'RE NOT IN FREAKING NEW YORK ANYMORE, PEOPLE!! LET IT GO!!! It's amazing what we'll all put up with to be near the beach and to have nice warm weather in the winter! Anyway.....welcome to Florida! Try not to let the parasites from the northeast get you down.
We Love it, we LOVE it, WE LOVE IT in Ft. Lauderdale!!! :-D
Is Florida good Region for Hollyday?
I've made that drive. :o)
I have been to 27 states now, in my lifetime, and Florida has always been in my top-3 favorites. It's one of those regions that I just never get tired of.
Glad the UA-cam auto play recommend your video. Can't believe how many idiots e aloud to have boat's. Sadly if they get hit then they would try to sue.
Great video and channel. Same drives I do and love the cruise ships leaving port everglades
Thanks for watching! Glad you like my vids. :)
Great vid..thanks.You also can show the water displacement on the big boats portside. Its like a tidal wave when the water comes back
You did a great job!!!! Loved it, but miss cruising so much.
😍👌👍
Me encanto tu video y también la musica de fondo gracias x compartirlo.
I'm going to a butterfly garden in 2 days!
