    Difficulty in differentiating: Particle 에 and 에서?

    • @learnkoreanwithyoonlab4997
      @learnkoreanwithyoonlab4997 3 місяці тому

      Yes, it’s difficult to distinguish between '에' and '에서,'. Then, please watch videos 22, 23, 24, and 30 in the 'Korean Grammar' section of my channel. To summarize briefly, '에' is used after a time, whereas '에서' is attached to a place to express an action taking place in a specific location. However, for some verbs like '있다/없다' (to exist/to not exist) and '가다/오다' (to go/to come), you use '에' to express existence and movement.

    thank you so much for the simplified explanation ; it happens to me to have a question concerning what you said about names's gender and as i remember korean is not strict and a neutral gender language but i also clearly remember that you said we can use the word "yo" refering to "yoja" which means women in korean to express that the person we are actually talking about is a female in this case does it mean that we can also use the word "nam" refering to" namja " which means a boy in korean to say that the the person we are talking about is a male ?

    • @learnkoreanwithyoonlab4997
      @learnkoreanwithyoonlab4997 5 місяців тому

      Hi. I'm so happy to have your good question. '여' is added in front of words to indicate 'female', but '남' is not added in front of words to indicate 'male'. For example, though we rarely add ‘여’ in everyday conversation, we can say ‘여배우(actress)’, ‘여의사(female doctor)’, ‘여직원(female employee)’, and ‘여군(female soldier)’, but we do not say ‘남배우’, ‘남의사’, etc. However, when indicating gender on documents, the words ‘여’ and ‘남’ are used.

      @learnkoreanwithyoonlab4997 6 місяців тому

      @@zeeshansultanzeeshansulatn4298 Oh! I see. If you want to write about the cross culture of Korea, there are several topics you can explore. Here is a recommended starting topic and what to write about. 1. Hallyu (한류, Korean Wave) and Global Culture * Topic: Examine the influence of Hallyu on various countries and its impact on global culture. * Content: - Popularity and spread of K-pop, K-drama, K-beauty, K-food. - Phenomena of Hallyu blending with cultures of different countries - Global fandom and the acceptance of Korean culture And for your information, there are some unique mentalities that Korean have. 1. Collectivism: In Korean culture, collectivism emphasizes the importance of groups over individuals. This cultural trait manifests in strong family ties, loyalty to organizations, and a preference for harmonious social relationships. 2. Face-saving: The concept of 'face' (체면) in Korea involves maintaining one's dignity and reputation in social contexts. Preserving face is crucial, and individuals go to great lengths to avoid embarrassment or shame, both for themselves and others. While this has the disadvantage of making people conscious of others, it is creating a culture of trust that does not disappear even after a week has passed since the package was delivered to the door. 3. Spirit of resistance: This is the spirit of resisting foreign forces regardless of social status and impeaching the incumbent president through peaceful protests. This is also reflected in Korean culture, including literature, music, and movies, as in 'Parasite', 'Squid Game', 'Pachinko', 'Mr. Sunshine', and 'BTS Song Lyrics'.

      It's amazing that that song touched your heart and that it is also rooted in your culture. I'm so happy to know someone who feels the same way. "뱃노래" is a folk song of the fishing labor. Depending on the type of the labor and the region, there are numerous types of sea shanties in Korea. Among them, the one of Pachinko is a representative boat song of the Gyeongsang-do region, starting from the 동해(East Sea) and gradually spreading to the 남해(South Sea), earning the love of many people. Interestingly, depending on the emotions of the person singing, it can lead to the extremes of sadness and frustration, much like in Pachinko, or it can lead to the peak of joy and delight, such as Korea University's boat song with changed lyrics after the victory in the Yonsei University vs. Korea University game. ua-cam.com/users/shortsMsiDC813zcM

      It's a very difficult question, but the answer is the same in any language.^^ Try to apply the grammar rules to real sentences you made yourself, and speak out loud. It’s a good way to internalize it. Use language learning apps and tools to enrich your learning experience. Try apps like Duolingo, Memrise, Quizlet. Besides grammar, also learn Korean vocabulary and culture. Language and culture are closely interconnected, and understanding cultural context is important for better language comprehension.
