Stuck in a snowbank
Переглядів 317 місяців тому
While the Pacific Northwest got hit by a snowstorm and then a ice storm there were many stranded motorists. This particular one slid off into the snowbank while trying to take the exit off the freeway. The Discovery to made quick work of the recovery. These cars are super tricky as there’s nothing to really hook on to so I opted to hook up the rear wheel.

Join us on an epic off-road adventure as 10 Rovers from the Pacific Northwest take on the challenging 1300-mile round trip to conquer the legendary Rubicon Trail in California. A short video about the Rovers in the 2023 on British field meet. There were tons of other British vehicles, but I got too distracted by all the rovers and didn’t film almost anything else. If you’d like to see more of the other vehicles, let me know and I’ll make sure to capture it next year.

    I'm looking at these exact tires right now and was wondering if you have any other modifications to the suspension that might make the wheel fit. Mine is stock and I'm worried it might rub.

    Awesome video. Im booking this place tomorrow morning for January next year. Hopefully there won't be that much snow uo there yet. Crazy to think it would take all day to hike that leg. Thanks for documenting your adventure.

    • @AdventurewithRover
      @AdventurewithRover 7 місяців тому

      Because the metal on the front part of the differential is very thin and easily punctured, and or bent and needs extra protection against contact with the rocks.

    I was going nuts checked everywhere then today I noticed the inside fabric headliner trim on the a pillar had 2 small wet spots. I ripped off the plastic cover and found the drain tube connected , poured a cup of water over the sunroof drain and sure as hell it drained perfectly into the wheel well. Just then I noticed the A pillar cover (outside) seemed to be showing a small gap towards the bottom near the hood. Searched Youbube saw your video and BINGO!. I had the windshield replaced last year and had to go back as the a pillar almost flew off because the stoner at the shop forgot to apply all the clamps. The used their own Aliexpress quality crap which is why my 2007 Lr3 now is an aquarium....THANK YOU !!!!!

    Great video, natural presentation, I really enjoyed it! The spotter wearing the shorts drove me crazy, too much talk and indecision. Other then that great trip for a bunch of Landys! I drive a 1968 Series IIa, 2004 Range Rover and a 2012 LR4 on 18 inch steel wheels with BF Goodrich 275-75R KO2 and 2.5 inch Proud Rhino lift rods.

    Now that you've done the Rubicon, what are your thoughts on trying it with a LR3?

    • @AdventurewithRover
      @AdventurewithRover 10 місяців тому

      I think the right driver, and correctly prepared LR3 could accomplish the trail however, I think you’re very likely to incur body damage. It would be nice if the LR3 had 35s and a very strong rear bumper as the back and tends to overhang even more than the D2. In summary, do I think the LR3 can do it yes, should it no.

      Before the trip, we organized a shared spreadsheet that contained everyone’s vehicle and the spare parts and tools they’re bringing. That made sure we had enough spares, but no one had to carry everything.

    I am English and would never have a Landy or Disco etc. I always go Japanese and have an old Toyota Hilux.. I want something reliable and not junk... I dont want to have breakdowns etc all the time... need a group of other people in the group trying to help me sort out my broken down Brit vehicle... I am not too long back from Ukraine where i drove from England.. Landys and Discos etc could not cope with the conditions..... I am going back this winter and would rather walk there and back then go with one of those I cant see any appeal in having something inferior and unreliable.... i would want the safest etc.

    Much more of a challenge with pretty standard vehicles, anyone can spend thousands on all the big wheels, lockers, portal axles etc, much more fun doing it the hard way. Just watch old Camel Trophy footage to see how good Land Rovers are🤷‍♂️

    What's that? You did the Rubicon trail in your $100k Jeep on 40's on a nice summer weekend and it was a challenge? Yeah, I did it in a 28 year old un-modified Discovery 1 on 31 inch tires with 4 girls in the back under 6 and FREAKING BABY UP FRONT with no wife....in the rain. That guys story tops them all. Just shy of having been to the moon.

      Typical, 40's mentality, All the gear And absolutely no Idea how to drive . No wonder colwns like that tip there jeeps over, you tube is full of them, that require a rescue.I have a rover in the UK, 35's locked diffs, with a low C.O.Gravity, although saying that, I can't fit several kids and a baby in mine. My overnight gear goes in the passenger footwell, I still get rained on in Wales, trying to put a tent up in a strong wind. Top content mate, love it 👍

    I have seen so many times videos from the rubicon trail, but i think is the first LR convoy I have seen. It looks like an adventure of a Life time. Would you consider being our guide? Our group also has some Discos and Defenders and we would be willing to ship our vehicles to the states to try something like that.
