I enjoy just about anything outdoors. This includes piddling in the garage as well as hunting and trapping. This channel will include a variety of videos that document some of the fun I have outside.
Trail Cam 2016

Here is a simple and cheap turtle trap that can be constructed for about $10 and put together in an hour or less.
Double dirt hole set lands my third coyote
Переглядів 1,2 тис.8 років тому
This catch ended the 2015- 2016 season. It was my first year trapping coyote and this was my third coyote catch. After trying a few different sets, the dirt hole and double dirt hole sets seem to have worked the best for me.
Coyote trapping Catch #2

This was my second coyote catch. I caught my first coyote in the same set. I remade the set in the exact same spot, used the same trap and three days later caught this one.
My First Coyote 2-6-16

This is my first season trapping coyote and here is my first catch. Thanks to Coon Creek Outdoors, Timberlinenorth, Outdoor Insights, and many others whose videos have helped me along the way.
Wow Ohio is a stupid state. Of course the brightest thing you said is I don't know. That's why you got a thumbs down.
Thanks
Not good at building I need to buy one from u I'm in Michigan.
Work at it, if you really want to kill turtles you wont feel good about it unless every minute of building the trap is focused on murderous turtle thought. Yeah I cant wait to catch a really big one, maybe like 80 to 100 years old and just cut his head off and eat him.
Where in ohio?
Bet you found that 18 inches wasn't deep enough.
Really cool options for turtles. Looking to catch some and needed some ideas. Awesome.
a gov't permit to use a turtle trap? you've got to be kidding! what do the bureaucrats do all day? push turtle trap permits around on their desks to make sure the public is in compliance with nonsensical laws? Seriously, what do the bureaucrats do with turtle trap permits? LOL!
I dont know if you've ever heard of J clips but we use them all the time for making wire rabbit cages. It would make your cage building so much easier and they're 100x more secure than zip ties, their cheaper too.
NICE
3 YOTES I DIDNT GET ANY MY FIRST.I WOULD OF BUT THEY PULLED OUT OF OLD TRAPS SOMEONE GAVE ME.
Is there danger of turtles drowning in this trap?
grant Diggs stick with music, turtle is outstanding table fair
FDA's stance on eating turtle. "Someone would have questionable wisdom if they eat this "delicacy"" turtle meat is trash meat.
excellent design.
Thanks for the update. I just copied your original design to relocate some out of my fish pond. What do you use for bait in them?
Jensen Zecher chicken liver or sardines.... good luck!
some very nice bucks bro
Let's see a new video man, I like the design and am inspired to make a few myself.
So how did your traps end up working with the new door design? And looking forward to the video to see the difference in the 2 designs,I live on Grand Lake St. Mary's and look forward to setting some next year!
Nice design! I haven't tried the box traps for turtles yet! I certainly like eating them! However, I have not tried them in a soup yet!
I have not had the chance to use them as much as I originally thought I would but it's always fun using something you created on your own. Thanks for the sub!
Todd Wittenmyer it is not recommended by the FDA to eat any reptile especially snapping turtles. Their meat is plump full of learning disabilities and cancer.
So is eating anything anymore. Drinking tap water is bad just breathing is bad. Rather eat a snapping turtle or a rabbit then most stuff from the store. And great video.
Suddenly, the FDA is completely reliable...lol. I think PETA is in the comments section.
If your having trouble with the door you can use netting with a hole in the center that is held closed with a bungee chord. If you come the netting in to the middle of the trap ( like the entrance to a minnow trap) the turtle will climb up the netting. The entrance hole should be just big enough for if to fit it's head through it will then push through the bungee and into the trap it cannot get back through as there is nothing from the inside to lead it toward the hole. Big turtles will rip up those wire doors. Good luck with the trapping.
Thanks for the tip. I have considered the netting but haven't tried it yet! Maybe I'll get around to it one of these days.
My dad used to buy basketball goal nets. He'd buy em on clearance at the end of the seaon. If you use the net make the other end a trap door to make getting them out easier. And don't forget to add a plastic jug or 2 so they don't drown.
can you posably mail me a smaller trap for baby turtles
No I don't really have the time but hopefully this video gives you some ideas on how you can make one. Good luck!
Dont bother, baby turtles dont trap.
@@thornyturtleranch4u I don't remember this😂
Where are you in Ohio? How did the trap work after you fixed the door? I'm in Ohio also and was going to make some traps the same way you did
I'm in the Dayton area. I have changed the door so that it is now a ramp from the bottom up and a ramp from the top down. The two ramps begin at the entrance and meet in the middle of the trap. There is about a two inch opening where they meet and it expands with pressure. This removed all moving parts so that I don't have to worry about a door not opening correctly. I haven't done a video on it because I'm waiting for some catches. The problem is due to my current work schedule and some traveling, I haven't had a chance to put it in the water to see how it works. As soon as I get some results I'll post a video.
We in the agri world call that field fence
awesome video...I put this one right into my favorites...I will be attempting to make a few of these...Our turtle season opens July 15th...
Great...you will have to let me know if they work for you...ill be sharing my results in another video once the season opens
Now I have to get on making a few of these traps after watching huntfishs turtle trapping video...I see you commented on it...Did you get a chance to get out at all bro?
+Heith Gagnon I did at the beginning of the season. Caught two small ones that were not legal to keep...I've updated the entrance and eliminated the swinging door. I haven't had a chance to try out the new version yet. I'll let you know when I do! I think jugging is definitely the easier method from my experience but I really prefer the trap if I can get it to produce. Good luck Gonzo!
good video. friend was just asking about a turtle trap
Thanks. Hope this helps him out!
great looking trap, I'm assuming your eating the turtles, are they good?
Thanks. Yes I'm eating them and yes they are tasty especially in turtle soup!
good spot
Yes it was. Thanks.

Awesome catch brother...I found the first Yote was a chore for me to catch...After you have figured them out it gets easier...Congrats and good luck in the future...Gonzo...I subbed you up...
Thanks for the sub Gonzo! And keep the videos coming on your channel. You have a great thing going and your instructional videos on punching in coyote sets helped pave the way for me.
