Inexpensive, solo, 5x8 cargo trailer camper
Переглядів 165День тому
Bought the trailer in 2015 and began camping in it in early 2016 (Florida camping is better in late autumn, winter, and early spring). Though I had shore power at the time of shooting this video, most of my camping is done with no hookups. While I had some trepidation about odor from my homemade composting toilet before building it, it works great even in the confined space. The camper is also ...

A brief look at the outside of my camping set up in its current incarnation complete with the dry season dust out back on my Outback from the twenty miles of dirt road that leads to the campground. Big Cypress National Preserve is part of the everglades just north of Everglades National Park and is home to Florida panthers, black bears (that's bear spray hanging on the door of the trailer), all...

Dolphins in Charlotte Harbor, Punta Gorda, FL

My best day of kayaking ever in 33 years of paddling, July 13, 2015, I managed to fall in with a large pod of dolphins and tag along with them for a hour and a half in Charlotte Harbor off of Punta Gorda, Florida where I live.

      @@molly_dixon_564 I don't mean to be difficult, but I'm not that quick to give out my contact info that easily in today's world. Surely you can understand that as someone who is traveling alone; you can't be too careful. Perhaps you can say something that's seemingly innocuous in your next public video that is a message to me I'll recognize so I'll know it's you.

    This is great! I just ordered a new Crosstrek Sport & plan on seeing this first hand! Thanks for the great video👍

      Crosstrek is perfect. You'll love it. Enter Horsepasture Rd. from the Foothill Trails Access A4 near Rocky Bottom off of U.S. 178 because the other end of it goes through a neighborhood and is blocked at certain times of the year. Be sure to go all the way to Jumping Off Rock, about 10 miles from the entrance on 178, for an awesome overlook of Lake Jocassee - go to Google images and type Jumping Off Rock and you'll see what I mean. And if the gate across Horsepasture Rd. just beyond Jumping Off Rock is open you can go down, bear right onto Boot Leg Rd., and drive right down to the lake.

    Love watching them swim. You ever see one sitting still in the current? They use their feet like rudders and can just sit there without even using their tails.

      I haven't seen that per se but one time on this same creek about thirty years ago I saw a younger gator, around four feet long, playing in the swift current of the rain swollen creek. It stayed in relatively the same place but it was twisting and diving and coming back up again obviously just enjoying itself in the rush of water.

    I’m gonna be doing this tomorrow. So if you start from the park boat ramp you go left right? Can you get lost in there?

    • @paulspeakman551
      @paulspeakman551 5 років тому

      Yes, you go left from the ramp. There's a zig zag in the canal then it soon widens out to like a pond on the right and the entrance to the trail is across that pond from the boat channel. It's very shallow so best to go when the tide is near high, say around noon today. It's pretty easy to follow the trail and at the far end if you keep making right turns it'll widen out and you'll come out on the harbor.
