This was taking during the Spring-break 2012 at UC Davis, California. It was remarkably quiet, and the sparrows are performing grand symphonies every day, so I guess this was a good time to record it. Sorry for the squeaks here and there, that's my tripod in need to see some greaser.

Male Anna's hummingbird in Davis, California. This little guy is always sitting and singing in * his * tree in Davis California. Every time I bike by, he's there. I consider him my biggest, smallest friend. ☺ This Ruby-Throated Hummingbird is not so common on the West side of North America. They are common on the East side of North America.

Ik ben benieuwd of deze reactie het uithoudt op deze video. De video heeft erg wat dislikes maar er zijn geen commentaren te vinden die specifiek kritiek hebben op de video. Dit riekt naar censuur. Dit is nep. Drie argumenten hiervoor, mogelijk meer omdat ik niet de hele video heb gekeken. Ik ga niet mijn tijd verspillen aan lariekoek. 1. Er is geen bereik in de Challapalca-gevangenis waar Van der Sloot is opgesloten. Maar toch Skype? Denk het niet. 2. Ik fronste al toen ze het hadden over de "baby" (iets met dat Leidy niet meer naar de gevangenis durfde met de baby). Hun kind is geboren in 2014, dus in 2017 3 jaar oud. Geen baby onderhand. 3. Hier zou "Joran" het hebben hoe hij het moeilijk heeft met Leidy. En dat hij spijt heeft wat hij heeft gezegd tegen haar. Toch is hier een homofiele ondertoon, alsof Joran een relatie heeft met deze "Stan". Als je een tweede relatie hebt lijkt me het zo dat je het niet direct erg moeilijk zal hebben met het teneergaan van je eerdere relatie.
Nog twee aanmerkingen: De "Joran" die hier te zien is ziet er toch wel een stuk jonger uit dan die van in de documentaire een paar jaar geleden gemaakt door John van den Heuvel. Daar heeft Joran diepe fronsen op zijn voorhoofd en een stevig, al zij het een niet te dik baardje. Ook heeft de echte Van der Sloot flaporen, die hier niet goed te zien zijn. Tweede aanmerking: we zien hier een Joran die 1. Een laptop gebruikt wat me niet aan de hand liggend lijkt als hij in de "Hel van Peru" is waar Van der Sloot met pen een brief moet schrijven in plaats van een telefoon omdat die niet zijn toegestaan daar. En 2: het ziet er naar uit alsof ze in een magazijn of dergelijk zijn. Mij lijkt dat niet een plaats waar een gevangene zo even mag worde geplaatst. Vooral niet in zo'n zwaarbewaakte gevangenis. Denk aan zelfmoordpreventie ("Joran" zou depressief zijn) en/of de middelen die een gevangene kan stelen om andere gevangene, zoals op z'n Peter R de Vries gezegd: mores te leren.
Het is inderdaad nep. Zijn stem lijkt wel een beetje, maar het filmpje loopt niet synchroom met de spraak. Het is dus een oud flimpje van Joran. Maar goed geprobeerd.
Ik zie het als een leuke prank.

That is an adult Male Anna's hummingbird. Unmistakable call, plus there are no Ruby throated hummingbirds found anywhere west of Texas/Oklahoma, not even during migration. They are an exclusively eastern US species. Cool video.
