Isuzu d max valve clearance adjustment
Cylinder cover? You mean valve or rocker cover…
477000km original injector
Thanks for the info, great video
NEVER WAIT FOR LIGHT TO COME ON. This will probably happen when your in the middle of nowhere or just leaving to go on a trip…I do 5,000k service intervals and replace fuel filter every 3rd service. NEVER WASH OUT. I have a 2010 dmax with 325,000 ks and never missed a beat. Clean out egr valve at the same time and I remove inlet manifold every 40,000ks when I adjust tappet clearance.
Cheers mate 👍🏻
Thanks for explaining that chart
Mine feels like its got a bit of a miss at 1000rpm and 1500rpm. Rough idle too but not too bad. Im thinking and hoping its the SCV as its started to shut off after start up sometimes
So for the price you run that filter after so many’s ks.. change every oil service
What size holesaw did you use mate
How do you know if it's on Tdc compression 1 or 4. Thanks
U can see how the cams are positioned, if it is TDC on 1 means the exhaust and inlet cams will be positioned so the valves are closed
@@dougkelly8854 thank you
What do u mean by positioned?
you said .15mm, that's 6 thou 006 are you sure, seems too tight a gap
stuarth43 yep, looking at the service manual right now. .15mm or .0059in, on a roller motor it will be much tighter.
whats the clearance please
I'm having some issues with my 2011 Isuzu ecomax I'm having a hard knocking sound would like your information on that could it be the fuel injectors not working properly
Rasta boss do you fix it?

I have a 2009 Colorado which has the same engine as the DMax and have stuck religiously to regular maintenance schedules. This vehicle has now passed 250,000 klms. I had one injector pulled a few months ago and it passed all the tests. Maintenance is the key!
This might be a stupid question but can you just clean the filter and put it back in the car . And when do you normally change it how many kms if the book says when the lights on to change it .
I have been changing mine every 30 thousand km or once a year. Just changed mine this week and it was well clogged up . Definitely need to buy new filter don't try cleaning it
30 000 kms holly shit ive only been getting 2000kms out of mine the stupid light keeps comming on if thats the case i might be my sensor playing up . Thanks for the guide line i thought it was odd
If fuel quality is good, change it every 15k don’t wait for light to come on and warn. They are not worth much $40.00 or there about. You don’t want to see the light in the middle of a long trip. Don’t wash, just replace.
Pls make a vid how to change atf on 2014 dmax w/o dip stick thanks!
Is the injectors for Isuzu Dmax 2016 4jjI engine 2.5 l and 3l same
that I want to know aswell
15.5 what?
I need to have a go at mine in the next few weeks for the first time. What I have done in the past for other vehicles to make it easy to see the notch on the timing pulley is mark it with liquid paper or white nikko marker
Hey. My isuzu dmax starts up just fine. But when i move a certain distance it just goes off. But after sometime, it starts up. It pretty hard to determine when it will go off.
Helpful video, thanks, doing mine tomorrow (2009 colorado)
Thanks, I have to do mine next service, hope it went well cheers
Great videos mate very helpful
Thanks it's always good to here someone found video helpfull cheers
Just a general comment, when the diesel in the filter canister is released via the water trap tap, which is at the bottom of the canister, have a container ready, that will hold nearly two litres of fuel . I did a neighbours Colorado, and it took at least 5 minutes to drain. His filter looked very much like yours, with 55,000 km on the clock.
hey man just wondering if you could help me. my engine is running okay it's just hard to start on cold mornings. once the engine is warm it starts no worries. i got power to the glow plugs so the glow plugs must be bad after 150k km's so i pull them out and 3 brake. just the end of em that black bit. should i have pulled them out while the engine was hot? now i was thinking to get that last bit black bit out to tap it into the engine then retrieve it through the fuel injector hole with a bit of magnitized wire. or do i start up the engine and hope they blow out?
u could try that starting up, it would be difficult to get out through injector hole unless u remove injector sleeves as well. yes cold engine would have been a better choice when taking them out.good luck let us know how it turns out cheers
Good to here every thing went smoothly, look forward to hearings if the coding makes a difference
Coding didn't appear to make any difference.
Just an update, I changed the injectors on my Holden Colorado 4jj1 engine, took about two hours, and now it runs like a dream. I'll get the injectors coded next week and will post if it makes any difference.
Cheers for the reply, I managed to pick up a set of injectors from a wrecker off of a vehicle that had only done 20,000kms for $400 so I thought it was worth it to try it, the diesel specialist said they wouldn't be able to ID if it was an injector so it would cost a fortune fault finding. I've changed the fuel and air filters. I was told that I should get a fault code if it's anything to do with fuel pressure. Might change the fuel pressure regulator while I'm at it. Did you end up getting them coded? Find a difference?
No I didn't get them coded runs fine, believe they adjust them selves after a while.I didn't replace fuel regulator as it needs to go through a relearn procedure u need a tech 2 scanner or get someone to do it cheers
Was it blowing white smoke? My Colorado 4JJ1 engine detonates on occasion in very low revs when laboured and leaves a big cloud of white smoke. How easy was it to change them? I'm fairly mechanically minded so I'm going to give it a crack myself.
Mine was detenation on sudden acceleration, whith black smoke, white smoke sounds like unbernt fuel. u should have your fuel rail pressure tested to eliminate that . also the suction control valve which is located in the back of the high pressure fuel pump is a possibility. it is most likely the fuel injectors ,they are not hard to change cylinder cover off ,take the 4 fuel lines off rail ,and injectors ,then take clamps off the injectors so u can pull injectors out they can be a bit tight to get out, intercooler etc needs to come off, u need to tighten the clamps back to the corect torq also cover fuel rail when lines are off u don't want any dirt getting in it will stuff new injectors, also electric conectors to injectors need to come off they just unclip. Have u changed fuel fillter lately. need any more advice im happy to help
I have #1 cylinder misfiring at idle and low revs, but intermittently, so I suspect the injector. The engine has 240,000 km on it, so might be due for the set to be replaced :-( Can you tell me what else I need on hand for the job, besides a new injector and tools of course. I have heard that the fuel pipe from the injector to the rail is a one-use-only, is that right? Thanks.
+Phill Trott The fuel pipes from the rail should not need to be replaced if they have not been off more than a few times, i did not replace mine but probably would next time as i have had them off before a few times. Every time u tighten them it's possible if they are worn a small fragment could come off and straight through that new injector but this is unlikely in my opinion. The only other thing u need is a new cylinder cover gasket if u want to replace it they usually are ok but. depending on where u buy injectors from u will not get the 4 , 0rings and head washers , i just used the same leak of valves that fit on top of injectors but u could get new one's, don't forget the end leak off valve is one way the other three are 2 way. That is about it . e bay have the cheapest injectors they are genuine but u need to buy 0 rings and head washers because they normally sell to dealership who already have those parts, but it's a lot cheaper than parts place, hope this helps cheers
Thanks very much for that info,...much appreciated. I was looking at these injectors, 50,000km warranty:- www.baileysdiesel.com/shop/blueprinted-injector-to-suit-isuzu-d-max-holden-colorado-rodeo-4jj1/
How do you know that it's #1 cylinder? You could just replace one if pushed. What country are you in? All i replaced was the injectors, I should've replaced the compression washers too but didn't think about it until I had it apart and needed it back together quickly. Make sure you have a tourque wrench.
great video dude really helpfull
Thanks glad u found it helpful
Where is the fuel filter located on your dmax?
It is under the ute on ĺeft side
+isuzu dmax (dougi4wdr) thanks, I've got to do mine. couldnt see it in the bay so figured it was under there somewhere
+isuzu dmax (dougi4wdr) is there a vid of where and how you got it out?
Jason M see my other vidio liqui molly diesel purge
Actually what i should have called them was leak off pipe which is the top part of injector not bov
Yes u are right but the top part is bov where fuel not used is fed back in to system.
the things you call BOV's are actually your injectors bro.
What was the valve nut size?
