    Could something new involve role playing maybe with costumes? I’m not sexually actively yet (virgin). And am not in a relationship. Just thought I’d ask. I’m in my 40s. I’m Andrew.

    • @toolsforus
      @toolsforus 11 місяців тому

      Hi Andrew. Sure - role playing with costumes might be a way to add something new. As with any new idea in the bedroom, you want to be mindful of building trust, so setting boundaries and understanding one another's expectations will be important. Thanks for commenting with your question!

    • @abkeener81
      @abkeener81 11 місяців тому

      @@toolsforus Thanks ☺️. I’m a virgin. What advice do you have for virgin guys? As for the role play … I was thinking of educator (principal or teacher type roles) and student, or boss and subordinate. I’d kinda like to be the sub in these. How common is that? Man being the sub in straight (male and female) sex I mean. I also have outfit ideas 💡. Is that too much?

    • @toolsforus
      @toolsforus 11 місяців тому

      @@abkeener81 For role play, you'll want to ask these questions to your partner. See what about role play would be interesting or comfortable for them to try. That might include the different roles or outfit options. Compromising may be necessary, but it also may completely align with them - so it's hard to say until you're able to explore that with them. My advice for your first sexual experiences is to take the pressure off of it occurring. When you start to explore sex with your partner, it can be a trust-building experience as well as a physical one, so be open about your needs and listen to your partner's as well. Take it one experience at a time and learn about your likes and dislikes instead of focusing on your preconceived expectations. If you want to explore this further, perhaps exploring journaling or reflections on what intimacy and/or sex mean to you. If you want additional support, you may want to explore individual therapy as a reflection tool. I hope this helps!

    Great video! It was nice to hear someone talk about this, as it doesn't often come up when talking about conflict. I am definitely someone who pushes forward, married to someone who pulls away. He often describes that his mind goes "blank" in conflict and he needs time to gather his thoughts and calm back down. He has said that I talk too eloquently in the moment for where is head is at, and feels intimidated. I mostly feel like I want to hash things out right away so that we can move on, and waiting to have conflict resolution conversations feels like agony. What are your recommendations for me, to allow my husband time to process the argument, without feeling like the argument is lasting hours or days without resolution?

    • @toolsforus
      @toolsforus 3 роки тому

      This is a great question @jayehawk88! I'm planning on making a secondary video for next week on this same idea, so stay tuned for that. You said you want to talk about the conflict in order to move on; however, I when you want to push your partner pulls away. The next time you want to talk about, I would suggest you challenge yourself to think about the ultimate goal of this conversation. Often times, when we are upset and wanting to talk the ultimate goal is to be heard and validated. If this is true for you, then the goal cannot be accomplished in this moment. Your partner is not at a place to hear and validate your point. The next time you want to push the conversation, maybe say to yourself "but my husband cannot really hear me right now". I would also set up some parameters around conflict. Something such as: if he needs a break when the conversation is heated, then you will give him a break. When he is ready to talk about it, then he needs to be the one to bring it back up. That's a common middle ground. Set up a specific time and day that your husband tends to have down time that can be a regular time to go back to these conversations. Last point (I know this is a big reply!): When you set up these regular times to talk, I would ask your husband what he wants to discuss. If you are the one that tends to bring up the conversation, then have him bring up some concerns as well. This can help it feel more balanced. I talk about this more here: toolsforus.com/the-drafting-table-blog/f/are-you-a-challenger-or-an-escape-artist. This post goes more in depth on creating a plan around this. Good luck - and thank you for reaching out. Comments like this helps my small/new channel. I'm always honored to help!
