As a basketball player he has always underperformed under pressure. He never really developed his own style, but rather he models his game mostly after kobe. That makes his in-game choices questionable. This point expands to his life outside the court. He copied championship celebrations and he keeps talking about kobe. People are a little harsh, but that's with every player ever. He needs to find his own voice and play-style.

I think a lot of problem with some players is that they don’t go to a good school like a UNC or Duke the coaches are there are development coaches, mentally, and physically because they produce the top athletes in the NBA and the top stars for the most part because a lot of discipline is kind of lost with you know bad action, and smaller coaches that you see UCF will be out by their playersbut if you go to a winning school like Kentucky North Carolina Duke, that stays with you forever, I just truly believe like his habits with a lot of these players and social media because when you come from the hood, you always wanna flex and especially where he’s coming from like these players really need to be tunnel vision and I just see that a lot of players on this team had to mess up and if they don’t clean it up in college. They could be a bigger mess in NBA.

He NEVER should have come out of college so soon. He received some terrible advise and the sad thing is this probably came from his father. He had to sit out like the first 10 games his freshman year due to the NCAA looking into his eligibility. (his father is an agent) then played well but got hurt and missed games at the end of the season. His game is built for college and would have shown out had he stayed another year at Auburn. Stupid, Stupid, stupid idea to come out after just one year at Auburn. NCAA final four is sexy. There is nothing sexy about the G League or Chinese basketball.

When I look at some of the guys his height, or shorter, who are currently having careers it's insane to think he hasn't been picked up by somebody. VanVleet, Melton, Curry (the elder one), Maxxey, McConnell, Pritchard...If they can have careers, why not Mac? He's got at least as much potential as those guys. Averages mid 20's in points, 6 assists, shoots a high 3 pt. percentage (shot .480 season before last in g league). Good rebounder for a player his size. People are gonna pick and say, well he's not this, he's not that but you could have found flaws in all the players I mentioned, or others his height. Sometimes you just don't know until a guy has a chance to play. Ridiculous not to give him a shot to see if he can contribute at the nba level.

He was a 5 star recruit so clearly he dominated in HS, largely because of his athleticism. He couldn’t resist the $ and missed half of his only college season. In the half he did play he shot the ball horribly, an absolute killer for a small guard. Small guards have to be able to shoot because their athleticism is negated in the NBA where everyone is not only bigger than them, but now also as athletic or more athletic than them for the first time. No more blowing by a guy and getting an easy layup. He looked past all that and declared for the draft anyway. Initially he was a mid-first round prospect, mostly from people looking at him being HS 5-star since there was so little from college to go on. Once the draft got close he worked out for teams and they didn’t like what they saw so he slipped a full round. Clearly Atlanta didn’t like what they saw in practice because he played 40 minutes the whole season, and again shot terribly. That doesn’t happen on accident, if they thought he had something it would have shown up in practice and equaled minutes on the court. Whatever they saw in his first season was so bad that Atlanta cut their losses after one season with him. Sounds like the NBA gave him a shot and he was found lacking. His athleticism carried him far but size and shooting ability killed any chance at a real NBA career. Maybe if he learns to shoot he can make a return but the fact that he didn’t bounce around long in the NBA before heading to china makes me think teams know he doesn’t have it.
