2% gel: 2 grams agarose 100 ml 1X TAE 5 ul EtBr EtBr and gel that has EtBr in it is toxic. Turn on the fume hood when you take the flask out of the microwave and as it solidifies (around 15 minutes) and wait another 30 or 45 minutes before use.
