M1 helmet Fix bale repair part 1- introduction
Was this an RTI import A grade ? I have a b grade 87/15 that’s actually really nice and also AOI stamped If this is indicative of an a grade 70/87 I’ll definitely be adding one to the collection I really want a 70/87 And a mannlicher 88/90 or 88/95….
When a bore is loose for a substantial length on the breach end it is usually a result of failure to having been cleaned after shooting corrosive primed ammo which would likely be anytime it was fired before it came to the US…. One that has fired too many rounds shows its west at the muzzle.
They did see some service in WW2. Mostly on the allied side via Chinese army. Some left behind rifles in Czechoslovakia also may have been used by German reserve or volkstrum units in the last few months in Europe.
Figures for rear echelon, too long for front line duty at that point. -N
I've got this rifle, with the bayonet and scabbard and cleaning kit in the butt. Great condition and accurate as hell.
Stop ripping on the .303 dudes. It was only ever a compromise because were declared. .276 was the intended cartridge for the pattern 1914 and it would've rocked in that cartridge. I own a pattern 14 and love it. It's my go to reenactment rifle. It got issued all over the place.
i got no idea why but apparently jumping in the pool and acting like you're a dead soldier in omaha beach instead of hanging out with your friends happens to every single man and i love it me included but it was in heavy rain
За песню отдельный лайк)))
Любимый среди советских реконекторов. -N
Thought for a second your gonna let one rip in the house.
Nah my dude, all these shorts inside are done with dummy rounds. I don’t like having extra ventilation in my garage . -N
They're a lovely piece.
The over simplified 1911 in .30 cal -N
@SurplusBoysChannel well if you're going to copy something, copy the best.
Buttery
Just WW2? Well that's a start 😂
Well that looked like a fun day out. Was that a Veterli Vitali or a Beaumont Vitali you were rocking there. I have a Beaumont in my collection but not got to shoot it as yet
It be a Vetterli, Beaumonts are a little harder to find here. -N
@SurplusBoysChannel they don't exactly show up in the middle aisle of Aldi here either 😄
If 6.5 is what you want to rock then just stick to the Swedish mauser. It's a rarity you'll find one with a shitty bore
That’s always a given. Main 6.5 surplus guns being the Swede Mauser, Dutch Mannlicher, Mannlicher-Schönauer, Arisaka, and Carcano. The Carcano is the bottom of the list with being easy to get running good, especially WWI long rifles from being shot out. BUT with anyone who collects surplus the Carcano is a must. -N
@SurplusBoysChannel even though the model 91 Carcano's were imported by the UVF so still quite historical in an Irish context, they're still well down my particular wish list. I'm on a bit of a French buzz at the moment.
Ah how’s the stock of lebels, berthiers, and mas36s over there? Here in the states any decent French gun is hard to find, lebels being the hardest, you can find Gras easier here. -N
@SurplusBoysChannel lebel and Berthier are common enough and pretty affordable, I picked my Berthier up for €200 . MAS36 and MAS49 or later still chambered in 7.5 French are harder to find because of French law restricting anything chambered in a military cartridge so most were converted to .284 winchester and they can be had fairly cheaply but who the hell wants them.
Dang, good lebels and berthiers start at around $1,000 here, same thing with MAS 36s. MAS49s are a little more common but still expensive. -N
Old school is the best school
You got one of those get up on outta here
this gun has too much issues
Oh..a squib...lol
You had me concerned there, ngl
Eddystone was not a subsidiary of Baldwin Locamotives. It is a subsidiary of Remington. Baldwin only leased factory space and built the buildings to suit Remingtons needs. Remington set up "Remington of Connecticut" to oversee operations at Eddystone Pa..
Eddystone was a subsidiary of Baldwin locomotive works as it was built as a second production plant for locomotives. Yes did Baldwin build the rifle plant for Remington. Yes they did But that was a separate building. Look at some Baldwin locomotives and you will eddystone on the builders plate. Eddystone built locomotives for the UK and the Russian 2-10-0 Russian decopod that got ordered for the first world war. - P
@SurplusBoysChannel Eddystone is the name of the town in Pennsylvania where the Baldwin Locamotive factory was. Remington used the name Eddystone to differentiate the plant from the one in Ilion New York, where they were filling contracts for 1891 Mosin Nagants for the Czar of Russia. The only connection to Baldwin Locamotives was that Baldwin made a lease agreement with Remington and then built to suit their needs. It was room at the Baldwin facility that was, otherwise, not being used.
@@GIJeaux1 Baldwin locomotive works was out of Philadelphia. eddystone was a a separate plant owned by Baldwin in eddystone PA. This might be a gun channel but railroads and stuff I have studied my whole life. Look it up before you comment. - P
Wow that a nice gun😄✨✨🤩
Nice overview! The early Model 30 examples retained cock-on-close bolts and had aperture sights on the receiver bridge, so two of your biggest gripes were actually something they changed to *after* they started production haha
Remington Fudd-ified an already fine hunting rifle with that update. -N
This has steampunk and vampire slayer potential
Thought you can slip this one by me dad
On your little 5 second side note , Savage wanted to have a military contract , did not work out . The model 1899 uses the .303 Savage cartridge , not interchangeable with the .303 British . I have a Savage Model 1899 in the .303 , which was my grandfathers .I did make a video of it . I also have my dad’s Savage Model 99E in .308 & made a comparison video between the two rifles .
Thanks for making this video, I’m a fan of the 1917 and have been looking for an affordable P-14 to go with my JA Barrel Winchester and 3-18 Remington. What they say about the JA rifles is true. I couldn’t find a bullet weight it liked at all, That 2 land and groove barrel will eventually be tested with some lowish my velocity cast bullets with gas checks
Great video. You need a M1 Carbine in that arsenal. 😀
As unfortunate Jerseyites that’s not possible -N
Thank you for putting out the video. It was nice meeting you guys. I was the man shooting to your right. You guys inspired me to clean the cosmoline out of my mosin nagant that I had for 8 years and never shot it. Went to the range on veterans Day. It shot way off. It would be nice to have you guys put out a video how to adjust the sights on them. Thank you.
I'm happy we inspired you to clean it. That's part of what we do as curators history and happy to share. That's a good idea for a video. I know Nick has had some problems with his. - Patrick
Thanks for the invite
Sorry there but you’re always a busy man and this was planned last second anyways
Fun time!! What loads were you 10.4 Vetterli and 8X50 Austrian?
10.4 was about 50 gr fff of triple 7 and a cast 350 gr .430 RFN 95% lead 5% tin 8x50 was 44 gr of PPU powder taken from the 7.62x54r parent case and soft point flat base .323 taken from some 8mm Mauser I had. Comes at about 1900 fps average -N
We got dad in the woods before gta 6
nice stache.
Cop staches for the win -N
Im really surprised how much finish it's left on them. Everything I get is wire wheeled to death
Dads in the yellow room
you just taught me something! Ammo companies need to change that diameter asap
Milsurp munitions makes it. And if you reload PPU sells .268 bullets too
Yeah I’m surprised that PPU doesn’t completely switch over. They do make the right sized bullets but maybe all their brass drawing dies are set to .264 and they don’t want to spend the time and money to switch just for that one cartridge. -N
@@SurplusBoysChannel that makes sense. I'm just happy they still make what they do, they're keeping my milsurps shooting
I got the same rifle. In 1995 they had them by the cases of them. under $200 I got a unfired one. www.youtube.com/@JohnFlaimsr/videos
I cut my NoIMkIII sporter down and rebuilt it back to a full stock and love it but I use lead 193 gr boolits with easy loads. Very slick rifle. Might have to find a No4 sporter.
I picked up a Krag here in South Jersey a week ago that had been converted to a sporter in Philly back in the day, so its 30" barrel went down to 22", but my brain cant help but think of the barrel going down to the barrel band like this lmao
I went to the Allentown antique show this past weekend and there were a good bit of sporter krags, enfields, arisakas and such. Was very tempted to make a stubby out of one. -N
Where is the crow foot that’s on British military weapons that’s how you distinguish it
Good question, we gotta take this thing apart completely cuz some of the markings look like they’ve were light strikes. -N
Is this live footage
It looks roughly the same length as my mle 1916 Berthier carbine, sweet jeebus, that puppy can bark. Not too gentle on my shoulder either.
I think out of all the WWI carbines the Berthier is the hardest of them all. -N
@@SurplusBoysChannel that's for sure
Non political but straight away you call a US state communist???? WTF.
Indeed. So the more strict a state is about its gun laws the more it gets that title. It’s a nice place to live, but not for gun nuts like ourselves. Also compared to other states it has the worst taxes out of all 50.
Some really nice pieces there. Good going
I was just randomly suggested this. I have a No4 that bubba had his way with. I might have to replicate this.
Do it, take it out of its misery from being a bubba sporter and bring it to the light of adorably short milsurp. -N
I had a great time, I hope to see you all again. Спасибо мой товарищи!
Ya better watch yourself -N
I absolutely love this! It is just like the opening of some old soviet war drama!
Fantastic editing and cinematography job! Thank you to the filmmakers for putting their lives on the line to bring us this amazing frontline footage. Cпасибо, товарищ!
Anything for the department of propaganda! -N
This event was so much fun! I'm so proud to know you guys. And in true reenactor fashion, all I gotta say is, it was hard and tiring, but I'm so excited for next year.❤
‘Twas quite an event, stay tuned for the bloopers for this event. -N
I love my milsurps because of the history that goes with them and if I can get someone else who was always on the fence into the hobby, all the better. Shooters and particularly service rifle Shooters are thin on the ground here in Ireland, so the more the merrier
I’m not too well versed in Ireland’s gun laws but I would figure they’re not the best. So I would guess milsurps would be more popular there since they are usually low capacity and not semi automatic. Go figure -N
@@SurplusBoysChannel Hunting rifles are the most popular type, then target rifles. The laws are what they are, they're not perfect but I'd take them over having no regulations at all. My main beef is who arbitrate them. Our police and they're useless.
@Irishpewtuber ah see people are too soft or too extreme. Either you wanna play it safe and get a hunting rifle or you’re crazy and need to split taint hairs off a fly at a 1/2 mile. Surplus fits right in the middle, reliable and can get the job done with hunting, not overly expensive, and is a little on the crazy side considering some of them can be over 120 years old. -N
Also do your police just pick on kids skateboarding around instead of actually stopping crimes like here in NJ. -N
Actually our crime isn't that bad, mainly their role is traffic management and they're shite at that. Each firearm here has to be licenced separately and for distinct purposes, owning a firearm for self defence is not an acceptable reason and your certificate application will be denied. No one likes the AR platform here really on top of that the licencing authority (the police) will be dubious about licensing one but licenced my mini 14 and FAL without issue, they took their time but that's normal.
I turned a sporter smle into one of these years ago.
That’s the only thing sporter rifles are good for, making them into pseudo military carbines. -N
I really like the looks of the stubby Enfield . I wouldn't wrap it with wire and ruin the look . There has to be a better way to keep the hand guard from moving .
