This is the best tutorial I've found for making this kind of bag! I just made one. Thanks!
Cant wait ❤❤❤
More wine bag techniques please.
Ok - it’s on the list!
Such a great idea. I am making some for the girls who ride their horses here and like to keep their info with them. A breakaway lanyard will be so much safer than one that isn't. Thank you so much.
Definitely will on horseback - glad you found my video!
I just finished my bunny bag. So adorable. Love it. Thank you for such a great pattern.
You’re very welcome! 🐰
Love watching your videos! The proves are fun and your instructions clear.
Thanks so much - glad you’re enjoying them!
Thank you for sharing your pattern. I like the idea of using towels.
you are so welcome - and yes, anyone with a baby loves the towel backs once they try them!
I am making small pouches to put dice in to hand out to veterans with a few other things.
What a thoughtful gift! ❤
Is this a beginner series?
Many of my tutorials are for beginners so perhaps not for you
@ Fair enough.
What do you want to learn when it comes to sewing or quilting?
What is a rotary mat? Never heard of one.
It's also called a self healing mat - what you use with a rotary cutter so you don't cut your table.
It's already a done deal. It is over.
they haven't thrown in the towel yet but not looking great...
thank you
You are very welcome - happy sewing!
Looking to use the heart as a square in a memory pillow, made from shirts😊
what a wonderful project to remember someone special ❤
These are adorable carrots 🥕 I’m going to make them for my grandkids for Easter and put little gifts in them …. Thank you 😊
You’re very welcome - have fun!
Love it !
will you give this a try? How many do you plan to make? Have fun!
@ I’m going to make 8 for my granddaughter to give to her little dance class. They’re so cute !
@@pbrfan7141 they will love that! Have fun 🩰
Oh my gawd! Are going to share that chart pretty please?!!
No because it's only for a few of the blocks and not the fabrics they are officially using. If I do a quilt along in the future or for patterns I'll definitely include this - was very handy!
Have had my Maker and Tusy heat press for 4 years, brand new, never used. Waiting for my neighbor and her knowledge. Finally! It happened and I have now made 2 new sweatshirts, with htv. So happy to start this journey now!
Congrats! There are lots of UA-cam channels and blogs where you can learn without waiting for the neighbor (boy have they been busy if you've been waiting 4 years! 🤣) I really like www.youtube.com/@MakersGonnaLearn
My criticism of JoAnn is their pricing policies. They overprice their products and then constantly create sales that are random and always changing, overlaid with continually changing coupons. This is confusing for customers and obscures the price/value relationship of their products. I NEVER buy something at regular price at JoAnn because I have learned that they are overpriced, which means that I have to wait to purchase I want/need at a price that is appropriate for the quality offered. People are free to buy whatever level of quality they want, but is manipulative to make customers think that they are getting a “good deal” on a high priced item on sale, when in fact the quality level does not justify that high price. I think they would do better to simply price their products based on what they’re WORTH, then offer occasional sales.
Unfortunately so many stores do that but they definitely trained us all not to pay full price unless desperate!
Would it better to heat up with a small oven safe bowl of water next to it?
Honestly not sure!
If you have a Cricut or other cutting machine, have you used it for fabric?
Where can we get the blue 1/4 rulers?
I found the squares on Amazon (amzn.to/4gnNa8P) but not the long, skinny one. Not sure where to find that one - do you have a quilt shop that carries things from Riley Blake Designs? It's one of their Trim It Rulers by Lori Holt
heat & bond works great as well !! very cute for Valentines Day
love heat & bond! Happy Valentine's Day sewing!
I can’t find the link to the video you spoke of so we could get the chart to make this darling ❤️ block in 5 different sizes. I clicked on “more” but I don’t see that link. Help please?
it was hiding in the details but here's the link - bit.ly/3Cbbtc8 Have fun!
@ THANK YOU!🩷
@@rettl.9720 of course! What are you going to make?
@ I’ve wanted to make a single “House” block wallhanging with the side of the house having a big red ❤️ on it. The variety of sizes in your chart will give me a good idea of just how big I can make it. Thank you for sharing the measurements as well as your great instructions.
@@rettl.9720 Sounds like fun - enjoy!
I watch the making of a product before I decide to buy a pattern. Or not buy.
Makes sense
By far the most efficient way of all the videos I've watched. Thank you.
Thanks & happy bag making!
Nice
Thanks! It's rarely that need but a girl can dream!
@tara where is this on your channel. Thank you
You can find the full tutorial here - ua-cam.com/video/-fgl83tB1gY/v-deo.html
I agree 100% with everything you said! I can’t imagine not having JoAnn’s here for all the notions & all the additional things necessary to get projects done. Also, quilting shops do not carry fabric to make clothing (especially prom dresses or wedding gowns& veils, or Home Dec projects. IMO, I think they have very poorly managed from the upper management levels, @ that is why they are in this mess again! They made a huge mistake, closing all of these stores (2 that used to be very close to me) & moved to a larger store, that was no longer convenient for me to get to for shopping. Another problem with this new bigger store was staffing. They never had enough people out working on the floor, or the registers. I really hope they get a last minute prayer answered, & are able to keep things going.🤞🤞🤞
and I agree with everything you said! 🤞🏼
I have a square clapper which I won at a quilt show. It is about I think a 9 inch I love it especially when you are ironing blocks. I have the other clappers too and love them all.
lucky win! A square one is currently on my wish list ❤
I have made a couple of cozies for myself but want to make some for family members. Love your tutorial, using the precut batting looks like a timesaver, and you made it look so easy. Need to get busy and get to sewing these!
That pre-cut batting is a time saving game changer for sure! Have fun!
❤❤❤❤❤ I LOVE that you used panel fabric. I have several left over from a class I taught. I will follow the advice from one comment and use the pretty fabric as a pillowcase and plain fabric as the actual heat/cold pack. Thank you for sharing your idea. I think these would make great gifts, especially for my older family, friends, and myself! 😊😊
always nice to come up with ideas for extra panel pieces, right? Happy sewing!
Agree quilt shops aren't the same for someone who is looking for dress/clothing fabric, or upholstery fabric or a quick craft fabric. We have a hobby lobby near I ur JoAnns, but it doesn't offer great fabric. Great craft supplies but sewing is less than. I like a sewing machine store to buy newmachi rs because they really know what they are selling. I love Joann's for it's variety but the one closest to me is less than. Understaffed, stuff never gets out of boxes the shelves make me sad because they are barren while stock sits in boxes. Half the time there are 2 employees one to runs register and one to cut. These are so mismanaged, it's embarrassing as a shopper. It takes a lot to shop there Which I've been shopping there for over 35 years, and I don't understand how management could get so bad. It takes employees to run a store, even n if you hire night stockers to clean and stock shelves. But they've let the stores go to ruin, and the problem is there are few options for physical shops to go to, versus online. I like to touch and see in person, but when stock is in a box in the isle how do you shop?😢 more money would be made by investing in staff vs stock market returns.
Agree with all of that. I want to touch and try on clothes too / just like fabric. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I enjoyed your video, so I printed your pattern. I am also enjoying your other videos. Thank you!
You are very welcome - happy sewing!
Your teaching skills are the best! It’s the little things that maybe I was supposed to know but don’t remember…🫣. I learned to sew on a peddle machine…graduated up to a fancy one along the way and now that I have slowed down a little have started making baby quilts and bibs and wipe cloths for our Great Grand Daughters (2)…and another baby due in August! The refresher explanations and short cuts really help me! Plan on making some sweet valentine blocks and embroidery their names on them! Going to search thru your videos for other fun things!🥰
Thank you and it sounds like you have a fun crew to sew for! Welcome to my channel ❤
Joann's is far too expensive. Everything is over prices You talk about quality fabric? Joann's fabric is terrible.
It’s priced so they can regularly offer 50-60% off - they’ve trained customers to always wait for a sale 🤷🏻♀️
hello thanks for video as i had forgotten how to use my exist tubes kit, i bought years ago and as i am making strap for a Byannie Bag i sewed on the large stitch one end , as you suggested need a closed end however i have to place strapping inside my tube so with the large stitch down one end it was easy to gently poke thru once all thru then un picked . many thanks for video
You’re very welcome -happy bag making!
I made one! Your instructions were so easy to follow. The hardest part was measuring and cutting the fabric. I will get better with practice though.
Like anything - practice makes it easier and faster! Have fun!
Thank you for this tutorial. It was so easy. I made 7 drawstring bags in about 2 hours, including cutting. I will probably make more!
Nice! Someone commented that they were going to use a pinking rotary cutter instead of cutting, sewing and then using pinking shears. There would be no stopping you then!
Love this idea! I will definitely make this. Thank you
it really helps me keep track of pieces for my blocks too!
Our guild make heart throws and as members experience illness, sadness,or loss. That person receives a throw from the guild We call is a hug quilt from the members.
What a wonderful gift in a time of need - I love this!
Does your iron get sticky if so how do you clean it off? I usually starch but let it air dry, interested in how this might work.
Also do you cut you fabric larger for the block?
Great question - I haven't noticed it sticking to my iron but using a damp cloth would probably take any residue off if it gets sticky.
How thick is the flex foam please?thank you very much. It’s really beautiful
You're very welcome - have fun sewing!
Well if Trump is charging more for import fabrics. This is just the beginning.
and most fabrics in Joann are from China as far as I know, quilt shop fabrics are from Korea so who knows what will happen to each level of fabric. 🫣
Great tutorial and your hints
Thanks - enjoy!
Not only do I snip the corners like that but I also grade the seam allowances. It reduces the bulk just a teeny bit more.
smart! Do you do it all the way up the sides or just more than I did in this short?
@ if it’s a seam where you’re going to be turning right side out and it’s an edge I grade the entire seam. If it’s jut a seam you’re going to press open, no grading, just edge finish.
@@LuvMyCardiKids thanks! I learn a lot from comments - appreciate it
We need BOTH our local quilt shops AND Joann Fabric. Today, for example, my list of errands included a stop at Joann Fabric for interfacing (on sale). While I was there I found batting on sale, so grabbed a couple of packages, and some Christmas fabric that was just too cute to pass up (also on sale) and socks for my granddaughters. Next stop was my local quilt shop, where I purchased some Aurifil thread and 1/2 yard of fabric for binding a quilt. Both stores have things that I need. My quilt shop does not sell buttons and elastic and polyester thread, and a lot of other things that Joann sells. I will be very sad if Joann doesn't make it out of this bankruptcy. We already lost Hancock Fabric several years ago. I don't see Hobby Lobby and Michael's quite filling the void.
Fingers crossed - and it sounds like you had a fun day!
Never mind on the tailor’s chalk you used. I found it 😊
Great - have fun!
Wow. Fun. This takes me back to the mid-70’s when I made these as Easter baskets. I attached thin ribbons to tie corners up. Added grass and candies, etc. kids still have those. 😊 by the way, where did you get those drawing “chalks”?
Will you be making Easter Baskets again?
Hello, what color thread did you used?
Unfortunately I don't remember and I gave it as a baby shower gift 2 years ago. I'm guessing navy...
