First Passenger Flight (With My Daughter Amanda)
Переглядів 1,5 тис.4 роки тому
Sometimes the passengers that we take are not comfortable in the sky as we pilots are. Sometimes as pilots we are not paying attention as much as we should to our passengers needs, we are too busy flying the plane. Even the simple sound of the AOA or the auto pilot disconnect can scare our passengers. I tried my best to make my daughter as comfortable as possible during the flight. I have tried...

Touch and Goes!
Переглядів 4564 роки тому
After N112DR being down for nearly 3 week for maintenance, it was time to get her out of the hanger and flight test the repairs made to the radiator system. Could not ask for a better December day to do some Touch and Goes and stay close to the airport just incase.
ATC ROCKS!!

Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCC) [Center], Terminal Radar Approach Controls (TRACON) [Approach/Departure], and Air Traffic Control Towers (ATCT) Controllers are rock stars in my book. On my trip back to KTZR I enlisted the services of Approach/Departure controllers. These guys and gals help guide and keep safe thousands of General Aviation and Commercial flights a day. On this day I wa...
My flight in N112DR to Neil Armstrong Airport (KAXV)
Переглядів 8394 роки тому
I took my RV-12iS (N112DR) to KAXV (Neil Armstrong Airport). I requested VFR flight following and navigated with the autopilot at 6500 feet doing about 111 knots (128mph) ground speed. It was a beautiful day for a flight.

Building my Van's RV 12iS story (a five year story)
Переглядів 27 тис.5 років тому
This is the story on how I got to this point on my Kit build RV-12iS ELSA. I will take you back to 2013 when I first had the idea. Come see how I built two fuselages and why.
Enjoyed the video. Thanks
What a crappy video
Thanks!😀
You give me hope!
Ive watched this so many times. About 3/4 way through the emp. Fuse is stored ready to start. You built a fine aeroplane there 😁
Great Video , I too have built one .... first 12IS in Australia. Nice little plane . Build another RV7 now Enjoy your plane ✈️
Are you still flying?
I am not.
Wow what a great video. Congratulations even though it’s 4 years later
What was the Total Cost ??
Half the price of what it is today.
$50k with the engine and avionics ?@@CraftingN112DR
Aw man such a great video but I have to be honest, ruined by the incessant, distracting, abrasive library music. I couldn't make it to the end. Why does everyone who makes a video have to pretend their a 'film maker' now, plastering their content with noise and 'cinematics'? Listen to this transition 3:49 - why would anyone want that 'painful on the ears' music blasting in their ears after the transition?
The dropped pin at the beginning of the video was more towards Indianapolis, Shipshewana is towards the top of the state.
Great video! It captured the event.
Outstanding video. Thank you for putting this together.
Same path we've followed! Grumman Tiger to RV8 to Top Cub, still have the top cub but we enjoy the RV so much with our dirt bikes. I love your intro!
Thanks
Awesome work! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome accomplishment - Please tell me what kind of audio and photograph equipment you used - it is great. Appreciate exact equipment please.
great video almost no building but perfect 'story telling' I enjoyed it!!
“No building” what do you think I was doing for 6 years?
Is that a cup holder on the center console? Nice & congrats!
Yes it is.
Nice autopilot 😁
How many hours do you have into her? How many hours did Van's say it would take? Any lessons learned?
I did not keep track of hours at all, was not needed. Build in a two car garage if you have the space.
Is there a 'story' that goes with the selection of N112DR?
Yes I wanted a "12" in the N number it since it's a RV-12 and 12DR was taken so just added a one and the letters are my initials.
@@CraftingN112DR 👍 Enjoy your new 'baby' and be safe.
Thanks for posting! I'm headed there tomorrow 5/15/22 from KLEX Bluegrass Airport.
If you don't mind me asking, what is your height and weight? I am a big guy and I am curious to your experiences. Are you able to take passengers? Etc.
300 and 5’8”. Don’t get a 12 not a big guy airplane. I have sold mine. Look at a 14.
Excellent!
What materials were used when priming, both to chemically etch the aluminium and then to prime (what type of epoxy primer was used)? Also, great build and great video! Thank you.
HI we are Steve and Deb Bentley, you just gave us a great contact for a Renegade Valencia, when we get home in the spring we will be looking up this RV dealer. Thank you again!
Glad to see you back on here. I love the new rig, it's really good looking. Although I'm not going to lie I am slightly sad to hear you sold N112DR. I do understand that we've gotta follow our hearts. I also have always had a passion for camping and will most definitely still follow your adventures. I did just start working on flying again this past summer down at Red Stewart field 40-I in Ohio. Thank you for the update and I'll see you in the next video.
Nice video. Background music a bit loud. Would like to hear the RV.
Okay sorry about the background music I will make it lower next time.
@@CraftingN112DR I have a 38 RW on order expected in April- May time frame. Seeing you drive really got me excited.
This is an awesome event! Congratulations Dave. You are an inspiration to many pondering aviation and kit building.
Thank you!
Any problem with ADAHRS horizon falling over due to the fuel pumps? I know a builder having this problem
I did not experience what you are describing.
@@CraftingN112DR thank you
EXCELLENT!
That's quite an achievement, well done. I hope you are loving flying her!
Great video thank you. Was wondering do you just put the power in the ECO detent for cruise?
Yes that’s all there is to it. Also MFD Says eco
@@CraftingN112DR Awesome thanks so much. Love watching your videos keep them coming. Hopefully I'll get started on my RV12 very soon.
Neat video. Just curious what's the beeping sound when you are taking off and landing??
AOA
Is that @paul straub looking into the plane at 8:46?
Sure is!
@@CraftingN112DR Thanks for confirming. Small world!
AWESOME JOB, I NOW WANT TO SEE YOUR FIRST FLIGHT, & THE PAINT SCHEME..! ENJOYED WATCHING YOUR WORK.!
Amazing, a really inspiring video, I like the reasons why you choose the RV12 iS, good luck!!
Nice! You surely pat yourself on the back every time you park it for doing a great job!
This was really cool to watch. Thanks for bringing us along. I thought it was kinda funny when you answered back landing being harder and she said great 😆
I should have told a white lie.
Really impressive!
Thanks for watching
Pretty cool that she went up with you. Just as a point of constructive feedback, I'd probably abbreviate the abort criteria stuff for a nervous passenger down to something like "this is how we get out in an emergency" and then tell them the pertinent details - "push this forward, push this up and walk/run in a direction that is safest." Most passengers don't care where you're going to do in the event of an emergency and telling them all the engine out stuff only predisposes them to thinking about it. Your daughters first words after talking about an engine failure were "has any of that happened before?" So, she's clearly thinking about it. For a pilot, yeh, the abort criteria is good stuff. For a non-pilot, it's a predisposition to being scared, if they're already nervous. Just my $0.02 and we all know what that'll buy.. LOL
Very good advice, I have leaned a lot from everyone in this audience and I see the error in my ways. This is exactly why I put my videos out there to be critiqued. Thank you all.
@@CraftingN112DR It's excellent you're able to take the critique in a positive manner. :)
