Repairing, Accessorizing & Custom Restoring of ATVs, SideXSides & Dirt Bikes
We work with what we have around the shop & don’t always have access to all the machines/tools so sometimes we make it up as we go! Our way may not be your way but it works for us with what we have available!
Aside from Off Road Builds & Repairs we are working on a more self sufficient lifestyle & share our homestead DIY builds such as our homemade ATV Log Hauler, Rocket Stove & Off Grid Wood Fired Hot Tub. We will also post homestead chores like hauling & processing firewood, raising meat birds/laying hens & other tasks/projects we create around our property!
Exploring Cape Breton is something we love doing. We plan to dedicate more time & videos to doing some overnight & multi day ATV excursions and van camping in the future.

Valve Adjustment on the Bench

We had this Yamaha Raptor 80 with damage to the valves because of an incorrect spark plug, the head had been removed, the valves replaced and now it’s time to ADJUST THE VALVES while it is ON THE BENCH! (Clearance specs are for the 2004 Yamaha Raptor 80 that is shown) Why this is easier explained and what machines you should not do this with. Removing The Head: ua-cam.com/video/9TFgXsg2vTc/v-de...
Portable Water for the Gardens & Animals! NO MORE HAULING BUCKETS 🙌🏻
Переглядів 18014 днів тому
With all the heat this week we needed to make watering the animals and garden easier….. We gathered up the old hot tub, the ATV dump trailer, some old garden hose and got to work designing something to eliminate carrying buckets all over the yard multiple times a day! This portable watering tote trailer turned out great! MacCustoms Homestead WishList: www.amazon.ca/hz/wishlist/ls/18LN1K4ETGW0P?...
Installing Tire Tube on Ride On Lawn Tractor

Propagating An Apple Tree

We want to have lots of apple trees around our property and they are EXPENSIVE so we are going to try and propagate some off a large apple tree stump! This is a long term project but eventually we hope to have enough apple trees to keep our future pigs full (& sweet tasting...
Raptor 80 NO START: Cylinder Head Removal to Check Valves for Damage from WRONG SPARK PLUG

This 2004 Yamaha Raptor 80 had a new spark plug put in and became a NO START Upon looking at the spark plug we could see damage and noticed it wasn’t the correct spark plug for the machine. Jenn will show you how to get the top end off the engine and we will do an inspection of the valves to see if they were damaged due to the spark plug being too long. #yamaha #yamaharaptor #raptor80 #yamahaat...
WATERING SYSTEM (Prototype) for our NEW (2nd) GARDEN 💧🍠
Переглядів 169Місяць тому
We finally decided to turn some unused space down by the wharf into our SECOND GARDEN!! It’s South facing with the rows running East to West to capture maximum sunlight throughout the day so it’s an ideal location to add a large raised garden bed! As most of our projects are, this was a $0 addition to the homestead! We cut and drug the logs to build the garden bed, we dug and screened the soil ...
FREE (or Cheap) CHICKEN FEEDERS

Chicken Tractors are our favourite way to house and move our meat birds!! Chicken tractors can literally be built with ANYTHING you have available to you!! Repurposing & Customizing Parts to Build the Yamaha Raptor
Переглядів 132Місяць тому
We ran into a couple issues as we move on with the Raptor rebuild and have to get creative to finish this build! Problems…. The widening kit comes with adaptors to extend the tie rod ends but they just look like they have a possibility of breaking and we don’t want to take that chance. The machine must have been rolled because there are some major bends in the fender bracket causing it not to b...

Might want some out riggers on that!
We’ve since added a bumper jack as a movable stabilizer!
You two always have the coolest ideas! Well done Jen that was some hard work you put in getting that hole dug!
Thank you! 💪🏻💪🏻 Got the job done (with a little help!)
Do you need a relay lol i threw mine
I don’t always use them, or I’ll run them off the headlight relay. I don’t think the LEDs draw enough to use them but some customers want them and purchase them so I’ll use them in that case
@@MacCustoms ok cause the harness came wit them but I couldn't get it to work so I cut the fuse and relay out but see everyone else using them so got kinda nervous
@@MacCustoms thanks for replying so fast
@browxprideloco13 you are fine without! Where they come with it I feel most people think it’s necessary!
Good explanation makes me feel like I could do something like this after seeing your videos!
That’s what we want to hear! We hope it helps people who want to do their own repairs but may need some guidance!
6:26 Valve clearance for Yamaha Raptor 80
Great build! Another creative MacCustoms tool! It’s always fun to watch you guys upgrade your setup as you grow and think of new things to improve! 👍🏻
☺️thank you! We always appreciate your support & are glad to know you are enjoying our homesteading journey! Everyday is a learning experience around here and it’s all about being able to adapt and improve!
Great idea and I like the coop built from a shelter logic frame! Take care!
The water hauler saves a lot of bucket carrying! The shelter frames worked so well! This is our third or fourth batch of meat birds to use it already!
Had trouble with the mumble. Subtitles might have helped
I had no issue. I think it's an awesome video. Click on the "CC" (closed caption) button at the bottom right of the video if you want subtitles...
I think subtitles need to be turned on by the viewer
We’ve been hearing that some people have sound problems when not viewing using the app 🤷🏼♀️ glad to hear you didn’t have any sound quality issues!
Don't take it personally, the accent and quietness of the audio made it hard for me to comprehend. Not your fault at all. Otherwise good information and worthwhile viewing.
@michaelnewman5734 no offence taken! We appreciate all feedback to help improve future videos!
This was very interesting. I feel like I learned a few things about chainsaws.
We are happy to hear this! Thanks for watching and supporting our channel!
Can’t hear you very well
Some of our older videos unfortunately have poor sound quality, newer videos the issue has been resolved
That’s pretty cool! Look forward to seeing how that develops! Take care!
We can’t wait to see the results! Seemed like a cool experiment to try!
Cool! I’ve heard of this being done but never knew the process. Can’t wait to see how it works out! How did the tree our front you transplanted make out?
We are hoping it works out! Seems easy enough to be worth trying! The tree out front grew leaves and is doing well!
I thought the valve clearance should have been checked. I've never put anything on a head gasket, and the head gasket looked like a regular gasket. No copper, no aluminum? The video is pretty cool, but the audio is terrible. Neither one of you are mumbling, whatever camera you're using has a terrible audio system. The sound is not clear at all, maybe you should check into it, thank you for posting.
52:17 glue is there because it is a sleeve the piston is in and it can get oil leaks there and around the push rods. Someone had bored out this engine and then it arrived to us with a bad leak 53:14 that’s a metal gasket that was put on there (multilayered steel gasket) Sound has since improved since then we didn’t have a microphone back then but had since added them! Thanks for checking out the video and supporting our channel!
Great job explaining what’s needed and what you were doing Jenn! You made me feel like I would be able to do this! I of course could not as I am not mechanically inclined ☺️
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words! & if I can learn to do this stuff anyone can!!
So resourceful! You two embody the concept of using what you have available! That’s screener is ideal! Great build! I can’t wait to see the 2.0 version of the watering system also!
☺️ thank you! We do our best to not spend much money on projects and can always find innovative ways to get the task done! We are so happy with the watering system so simple and makes it way easier then carrying buckets of water down there!
is there a reason you were holding the clutch the whole fuckin time?
Because the throttle was stuck on 😂
@@MacCustoms mint also how good do these bikes work for fast trail riding
@Official_flynex not so much fast trail riding they are designed to be trails bikes. They are registered as street and trail and have signal lights and such but again no speed for highway, just useful for getting from trail head to trail head mostly. They are huge in Europe though for the Trials competitions
You would think in this day and age one would be at least wearing hearing protection and some gloves.
Nothing better than a FREE DIY project! Seems better than spending $30+ on something that you can rig up at home! This video had me laughing a few times with the comments 😂 “ugh I missed” “missed again” “looks like a job for zip ties to me” and “the chickens won’t even notice”
We figured it was worth trying to see if it would work! So far so good! I laughed at the “pinched my fat” 🤦🏼♀️ and “chickens won’t even notice” also had me chuckling! 😂
thank for the video, great job, do you have a video about install a electric power steering ?? or where can i get it ? thank for you help
Thank you for the support! We very much appreciate it! We never had the chance to try installing electric power steering on a lawn tractor unfortunately
The trailer came out looking pretty awesome! I’m sure it will come in very handy around the property! Have a good week!
Thank you!! We are very pleased with it and happy that we could repurpose a bunch of stuff that was of no use on its own but made a very valuable item when put together!!
WOW! That looks great! So creative designing the whole thing but especially the hinge and latch features! Mr MacGyver you can create anything imaginable it seems! Great work on the build and filming! As always looking forward to your next endeavour!
Thank you! We are very happy how it turned out!! & we have lots of upcoming builds and endeavours to share!
This was interesting. I love to watch what you are up to.
Thank you so much! We love sharing our day to day activities around the homestead! And we very much appreciate the support you offer our channel! 💕
You guys make any project look so easy! I love the CAN DO ATTITUDES and always enjoy watching what you build starting with various parts and pieces! Your last names should be MacGyver….is that what the Mac in MacCustoms stands for 🤔😂 Keep up the good work! Cheers!
With the right mindset every project can be this easy!! 😂 I wish our last name was MacGyver it would be so fitting, we are from a different Mac Clan tho. Thank you so much for your continued support to our channel we always appreciate the comments and views! Cheers to you and yours also!
Won't be much suspension articulation with the A-arms flat out. it's fine for the pavement but not offroad.
This machine won’t see anything but dirt roads and flat sandy beaches. It’s not only widened 6 inches but lowered 6 inches and handles like a motherf*er!
Very creative as always! That fender bracket looks perfectly made! Can’t wait to see the Raptor finished!
He did an amazing job making that fender bracket! Not too much longer for the Raptor to be revealed
Is there a retaining clip oon the bottom of the caliper aswell?
There is 1 Retaining clip to hold the pads and 2 retaining pins to hold the caliper
Audio is awful.
Didn’t have a mic for some of the older videos.
❤ NASIL GÜZEL BIR YARATIK
Teşekkürler!
He’s is a big boy! 🐾
He is indeed!!
That looks great! I think it was worth it but I didn’t have to go through what it seems you guys did 😂 Sharp looking machine!
It did turn out great! We are both pretty happy with it now that it’s finished 😂 Lots of frustration at the time however!
As a guy who has moved many a rock in my time for landscaping- good job! You reminded me that I have to do some rock collecting for a feature that I’m building by our parking pad! Have a great day!
Thank you! It was a bit of a mission but we got it done 💪🏻
Nice job getting that moved! I have priced decorative stones in the past and the price was extremely expensive. You both were so calm when the bike started rolling down the hill. I think I’d have been panicking at that point 😂 Can’t wait to see how you get it decorated and when the grass comes in! Cheers
Thank you! It’s crazy the price of rocks these days! Hahaha you need nerves of steel to hang out with us 😉 It’s going to look go good when we get the details finished around it and the grass grows! We will be sure to show in a future video!
Great way to repurpose!
Thanks! It’s all about using what we have around here!!
Did miss the size? Is this the 275g or the one over 300g one?
The one we used is 1000L IBC Container!
@@MacCustomsThank you. :)
@benjaminkoch6778 you are welcome! & thank you for checking out our video! We hope you decide to build one for yourself and enjoy it as much as we enjoy ours!!
If the camera wasn't there he wouldn't of fell off
Hahaha I wish I could have blamed it on the camera
You didn't adjust the values
The valves were adjusted when the head was on the bench
You mumble
And talks to himself most of the time also 😂
Hey guys! Looks like a beautiful day to be outside! How’s that tree that you transplanted doing? Any signs that it’s rooting! Have a good week!
We don’t want to jinx it but it’s seeming like spring here finally!! The tree seems to be budding so we are thinking that’s a good sign! 🤞🏻 Thanks for all the support! Have an amazing week!
Good job getting that stripped down Jen! You guys see so many uses for the stuff you have available to you! Beautiful view you have!
Thank you! We try to reuse anything we can to keep costs down on all our projects! It is indeed a beautiful view!
I can’t wait to see her Raptor all finished!
It’s getting close!! 🎉
This fix did absolutely nothing for my gs5000. Great idea but Craftsman screwed up with this lawn mower. Like riding and steering an old 1976 Ford Pinto with no power steering.
😂 love that reference!
Persistence pays off! Hopefully she’ll root and look good in your yard! Boy it’s muddy after all that snow melted. Take care!
It was a well fought battle with nature 😂 So much mud indeed! Hopefully the pigs will enjoy it when they arrive!
What year is that van and did the starter still crank with the bad fuse?
2008 Chevy Express 1500….The starter did not crank on this van, the lights would flash on the dash when the key was turned but no cranking or attempt to start
@@MacCustoms Thanks a lot!
@sunstatehvac9845 hope it solves your issues!!
Adorable! 🐣
They are! But they grow so fast!
You sir are incredible at what you do!
☺️ much appreciated
You can also drill a hole in the foot brake in a different slightly lower position and run the spring from the detent down to there to have the spring actually pull on the detent so it unlocks it out of gear.
That would probably help in some cases! With the machine we had for the video it wouldn’t have had any resolve because we had to clean the switch because it was all gummed up but I will defiantly keep this trick in mind! Thanks for sharing!!

Hey do you work on dirtbikes to ?
😂 misjudged the edge a little this time! It went very smoothly getting it out especially with that heavy wet mud in there! I love how you guys do everything with stuff you have available and that trailer & crane are so useful!
It’s not often he misjudges where the trailer is! 😂 I was also surprised that it went that smooth to get it out! The log trailer is probably one of the best things we built (along with the wood fired hot tub!!) thanks for supporting our channel we appreciate your comments!
OMG... I thought I was watching a Comedy Video. FYI... they still make Plastic Pipe & Shovels! Yep the pole is still there. 🤣
Just wondering what plastic pipe and shovels would have accomplished?
Fair question! lol
😂
I’m thinking the shovel part was referring to Ry using a stick to remove the mud up front 😂 that was just utilizing a stick being on the ground there rather then going out back to get the shovel 😝
@@MacCustoms Just Kidding. I can see me doing the same things. Trying to make do with what you have and get 'er done.
