Gotta fill the cattle mineral feeders, dig an in-ground pool for my wife's pigs, replace the wind vane on one of the mineral feeders, find the bull, and some bur oak acorns, all while dealing with a month long drought. Let's get to work!

Introducing The Adorable, New, Baby Piglets!

Zach, our youngest son, is a video game engineer, therefore, when we asked him to name the newest editions to our farm, it wasn't surprising that he named them after two video game pigs, Tōmba and Péy'j. It's going to take quite a bit of labor, to get ready for them, so let's get to work! @dreamlit Find me at: www.youtube.com/@JERRYCROWNOVER?sub_confirmation=1 ozarkcountytimes.com www.jerrycrow...
Where Should I Start Restoration Of An Old Barn?
Переглядів 80021 день тому
I'm trying to decide where to start first, in the restoration of the old barn. I'm also digging a post hole in the Ozarks (which is no minor task, since the soil is basically rock), then using a hedge post as a lever, and setting it in concrete; all while doing the everyday, basic chores of cattle farming. Let's get to work! My wife, who does all the filming and editing, would like to give kudo...

    Louie was so cute trying to get a drink from the hose sprayer. We were told once, by a vet, that acorns make the cows not produce milk. Have you found that to be true?

    • @JERRYCROWNOVER
      @JERRYCROWNOVER 7 днів тому

      @@rmiller8000 I’ve heard that, as well. When I was a kid, and we milked cows, Dad didn’t want them eating acorns in the fall because he thought that reduced milk production in the dairy cows. I don’t think it has that much of an effect on beef cows, plus my cows that calved in the spring have pretty much ceased milking and have begun to wean their calves on their own. Thanks for the question.

    A wise man once told me not to listen to old geezers because they often dont have all marbles ready.... Old geezer is talking about turning front tyres on a tractor with smaler driven front tyres and with a front loader. The operation of the front loader is the only reason why the front wheels of such a tractor are turned - the loaded bucket relieves the rear axle, so it doesn't rub as well, and the front wheels pull better through the turned treads. The front-wheel drive is switched off to protect the tyres on the road. The front-wheel drive is usually designed to run a little faster so that the front-wheel drive is already pulling along when the rear axle is barely slipping. Therefore switching it off is golden.
