CROWN CATTLE COMPANY
United States
Приєднався 24 лют 2023
Thanks for stopping by! My name is Jerry Crownover and I was raised on a livestock farm, deep in the heart of the Missouri Ozarks. I work and live on a beef cattle ranch in Lawrence County, Missouri, with my wife, Judy, of 41 years, who films and edits all our videos, from her smart phone. In 2024, I retired from writing a bi-monthly column in several newspapers, dealing with agriculture, however, my hometown paper, Ozark County Times, still runs my column in reruns, if you want to take a peek online.
Now, let's get to work!

Gotta fill the cattle mineral feeders, dig an in-ground pool for my wife's pigs, replace the wind vane on one of the mineral feeders, find the bull, and some bur oak acorns, all while dealing with a month long drought. Let's get to work!

Introducing The Adorable, New, Baby Piglets!
Переглядів 43114 днів тому
Zach, our youngest son, is a video game engineer, therefore, when we asked him to name the newest editions to our farm, it wasn't surprising that he named them after two video game pigs, Tōmba and Péy'j. It's going to take quite a bit of labor, to get ready for them, so let's get to work! @dreamlit Find me at: www.youtube.com/@JERRYCROWNOVER?sub_confirmation=1 ozarkcountytimes.com www.jerrycrow...
Where Should I Start Restoration Of An Old Barn?
Переглядів 80021 день тому
I'm trying to decide where to start first, in the restoration of the old barn. I'm also digging a post hole in the Ozarks (which is no minor task, since the soil is basically rock), then using a hedge post as a lever, and setting it in concrete; all while doing the everyday, basic chores of cattle farming. Let's get to work! My wife, who does all the filming and editing, would like to give kudo...

Come along with me, to learn about that time the government promoted multiflora rose; how cattle adapt to all kinds of weather; how to drive a bull, how baby calves are masters of camouflage; how Louie finds an armadillo; how to maintain a mineral feeder, and watch some turkeys bobbing in the pasture. My dad was born in Arkansas. He said the river was pronounced Are Kansas and the state Arkansas. Enjoy watching all your videos.
@@rmiller8000 Thanks, so much!
A wise man once told me: If you drive regularly on pavement get tyres for it and get rid of those AG-tyres...
Was a instructional video needed for this?
Yes
nope.
Do NOT take those little metal clips off 😅
I think those metal clips pull out so you don't have to hammer them on.
You release the clips in order to remove them. You can leave them in place during installation
@@somethingelse4424 They are prone to break or bend when you attempt to spread them. This process is just easier and quicker.
@@JERRYCROWNOVER you literally put a small flat head screwdriver under it, and twist. its spring steel it wont just bend.
@fourpointsix5577 As someone who's done it the wrong way before, I can guarantee that just tapping them on can save you time and a headache.
You skipped half of the procedure…
@@Chocolate_dragon You can use a tiny standard screwdriver to remove the metal clips of the damaged or broken old strut. It comes off easily.
Look at this man thinking he's Bob Barker.
Watch it pops
😮
Thanks!
I'm my 58 years of experience, it doesn't matter which way the tires are turned. They still wear out at the same time. Oh, another thing. I've been the local tire guy for 40 years.
It's called common sense. The temple bs is hilarious
Looks like a burr oak
@@ChadSpencer-yf5lc Yes sir! You are correct!
Louie was so cute trying to get a drink from the hose sprayer. We were told once, by a vet, that acorns make the cows not produce milk. Have you found that to be true?
@@rmiller8000 I’ve heard that, as well. When I was a kid, and we milked cows, Dad didn’t want them eating acorns in the fall because he thought that reduced milk production in the dairy cows. I don’t think it has that much of an effect on beef cows, plus my cows that calved in the spring have pretty much ceased milking and have begun to wean their calves on their own. Thanks for the question.
I was always taught Rears Forward and Forward Reversed...Because when you pickup something heavier on the front and backup they will now have the bias of Traction and will clean out like they should, handy when moving bales of hay or scooping snow.
If Judy wants piglets, we buy piglets!! You'll thank her later while eating home grown pork chops. As always, thanks for taking us along.
@@douglasburch2320 That’s the plan!
Hahahahaha. Thank you! Mmmmmm, yummy!

Rock and roll!
A wise man once told me not to listen to old geezers because they often dont have all marbles ready.... Old geezer is talking about turning front tyres on a tractor with smaler driven front tyres and with a front loader. The operation of the front loader is the only reason why the front wheels of such a tractor are turned - the loaded bucket relieves the rear axle, so it doesn't rub as well, and the front wheels pull better through the turned treads. The front-wheel drive is switched off to protect the tyres on the road. The front-wheel drive is usually designed to run a little faster so that the front-wheel drive is already pulling along when the rear axle is barely slipping. Therefore switching it off is golden.
My friend did this on his grader 30 years ago
Because that is a John Deere product, were you breaking their laws by altering the configuration yourself, or did you receive express written consent from the commissioner of Major League Baseball to proceed with this modification and transmit this video record?

@@RAB- Thanks for the comment. So happy it evoked great memories!
Nothing like good memories to spend an nature day with. :)
A wise man once told me, having the tire reversed is a sure way to keep your insurance from paying if you have an accident with that tractor.
Anyone that has run tractor tires on mud trucks knows there is some witch craft in these treads. You can basically reverse out if anything
Your tires will out last your axle
I mean 2wd tractor no harm but can always run steer tyres rather then chunky
👍😁💯
Or... get tires meant for the terrain you're on...
nice, helluva lot safer than some of the ways we used to do it. I like it.

Hopefully, you and your wife will have a better pig 🐖 experience than my family did with our (one and only) pig (Arnold Ziffel) raising experience. Kids became especially attached to Arnold, and refused to consume said pig! Wife and I, had it all to ourselves!
Hahahahahaahahahahah. So funny!😊
@@rogerfuhr8067 LOL!! Great story! I do hope this one turns out better. My first (and only) hog was a 4-H project, 65 years ago. The gilt ate all of her first litter, so I traded her to Dad, for a crossbred heifer, and I’ve been in the cattle business ever since.
@@JERRYCROWNOVER Good trade!
Another quality video, thanks. I noticed how that went from pig/pigs, good luck on those pork chops. Watching from Panama City Florida,USA. 🇺🇸🦅 !

Congratulations on the baby pigs. I absolutely love that truck hitch trick!! as always, thanks for taking us along.
You bet!
On pavement I only do wheelies front tires last me 25 years
I know, it's a shame.
I remember hearing that on Monster Jam when I was a kid; if they were racing monster trucks at a pavement location without dirt, like Indianapolis, they'd run the tires backwards to grab the surface instead of shedding the dirt.
Wow! So interesting!
Thanks for the input...and thanks for watching!
