Wiscasset Waterville and Farmington Railway: The 1930's Maine Freight Train
Deep in the mountains of Maine, lies a railroad much different than others. A railroad, that is highly overlooked when it comes to photographers. The Wiscasset Waterville and Farmington Railway of Alna, Maine, part of the original route of the extensive two foot right of way of the Wiscasset and Quebec railroad. The WW&F is a by the book recreation railorad of the original line. Spanning 3 1/2 miles between Sheepscot station and just past Trout Brook. The WW&F mostly has an income from tourism, running trains along the route giving passengers the chance to see some of Maine beautiful pine forests. On the other hand, the WW&F is known to be the hosts of many photo charters. Photographers will essentially rent out the railroad for a certain amount of time, to recreate scenes and operations that would've been done when the railroad was in operation however many years ago. This time, the WW&F teamed up with Dynamo Productions, to recreate, "The 1930's Train." This event was highly sought due to the fact that Dynamo had some plans for scenes that had never been done before. Lets hop aboard and take a ride along The 1930's Maine Freight Train

Thank you for this recreation.Brought back memories of reading about this engine from Railroad magazine in the 1950 time when it was privately owned and stored in a garage. Made several trips to Main to see some of the 2 footers.
I have been through Wiscasset at least 36 times and never saw a train.

Nice video, showing a 1930's local freight train. How would the farmer in the pickup truck get charged for the coal? There aren't any scales, so it must be by the shovelful.

Soo usually diesels are behind the steam engine providing extra push needs it or extra breaking and power to passengers cars or least pull train backwards home or whatever. Soo what’s propose these actually in front steam engine help it go up hill in mountains or ?
I heard he needed extra braking in certain areas of this run, thus the diesels for a short period of time.
