USS Wasp Arrives in Souda as USS New York Departs
The Wasp Amphibious Readiness Group consists of the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21), Harpers Ferry class dock landing ship USS Oak Hill (LSD 51), and embarked 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).

I actually was with that ship when we Left crete. Of course I was on the Carter Hall (Lsd 50). The Bataan was my original ship before going to the carter hall to look after my LAV (USMC). Thank you for this video. This is awesome look from the shore's point of view.

Impressive and well done. Years ago I have seen a documentary on the battle of Gallipoli. Terrifying. Descandants of the soldiers that fought there still come every year to commamorate. That was beautiful to see.

Where's the Union Flag and the White Ensign?
Once the ship is under way the union flag is struck and the jack staff is taken down and stowed for sea. The same with the ensign. The ensign is flow from masthead at sea and ensign staff is also stowed for sea. Here you can still see the ensign flying from the ensign staff.
It looks beautiful, first against the mountains and then against the sky.
