Why is Link's Power so Boring? Zelda Lore
📜 Let's analyze each part of the Triforce. Especially courage. I've been thinking really hard about why Link has courage...

It's his higher self
I honestly expected this to be a fairly simple video, with not much depth, but your points are great. I had never thought to compare courage with real world examples, but come to think of it, most of Ganon(dorf)'s appearances have him seize control of the kingdom (power) for himself, and Link standing up to him, to free and save the land. That's pretty much the definition of a rebellion! So, thinking about it, the Triforce may never have been about increasing someone's attributes, but rather, to symbolize someone's greatest strength...
Exactly! There's some deeper meanings I think we've been missing, that Nintendo hints at using small details. Thanks so much for commenting! Not only was it a very nice comment but it also gives me the feedback that the message was clear.
Great video!
I appreciate you taking the time to write this comment🙌
Holy yap

I gotta go w Breath of Wild Link. Imagine this: Emerging from the Resurrection chamber, Link is clothed in the most humbling attire. He has no legendary sword, no friends or family with him, and nothing but his survival instincts and sporadic memories to help guide his way. He appears over the side of the first seen cliff, taking in the entirety of a hauntingly familiar, yet still mysterious world. There is endless sky above him, and the vastness of the elements and landscapes below seem to go on forever. Link has no idea of the immense trials ahead. He’ll have to forage for ingredients, cook his own meals, be in countless monster battles, and be exposed to relentless weather along his journey. Armed only with boundless courage and desire to restore good to Hyrule, Link leaps over the mountainside. He is literally thrown to the wolves, but it’s somehow cathartic. After all, he has been a wolf before. And just like his canine incarnate, he has something fierce in common. He knows how to hunt.
Isn’t that like the bendrowned creepypasta sprite?
And here I thought rambled..
what you mean EDIT: ah I get it, you meant "And here I thought I rambled..."
No shade to MatPat, Vinesauce, and Penguinz0 I love them all 💙
Except that there isn't only 1 meaning to the phrase. The one you described is the logical fallacy, but there are other meanings. Would that mean that your own video is actually the biggest lie?
I just presented it this way because I thought it was a good hook. But in all seriousness where the heck did you get a second definition for that phrase?
@@redblackgaming The common usage as shown in the examples in the video, literally meaning that it is begging for a question to be asked. I looked it up to make sure I wasn't gaslighting myself and there is apparently even a third meaning/usage that I have never seen nor heard of.
Oh but thats the point I was making - just because everyone's using it that way doesn't mean it's correct, and the purpose of this short is to highlight that. ...I definitely reached by saying a "lie" but again just trying things im a small youtuber
@@redblackgaming except that's not how language works. If a phrase is used in some way commonly enough, that way it's used becomes a definition of the phrase. It's why Marriam-Webster lists "to elicit a specific question as a reaction or response," as the first definition of the phrase.
Ok, Ill take note of this for future videos, its less clear the definition than Id thought. I shouldnt have been so certain. Thanks
Hero of time
One act botw does is facing a hundred guardians to protect Zelda without a shield knowing he’ll probably die
Unrelated but Luigi to me represents courage than link. He went to a haunted mansion to save his brother even though he was scared.
SS Link holds a very special place in my heart, but his game focuses on all aspects of the Triforce, so i have to hand it to TP Link on this one. man set off to find everyone's kids, ends up in the middle of an interdimensional war where he's transformed into a wolf against his will and tasked with freeing all of Hyrule. the man was just gonna deliver a package 😭
I mean Hero of Time is literally a ten year old boy…
And WW link was like 14 and hadn't been chosen by the gods in the first place.
Wrong
He's not afraid. It was just heat in his face.
mind changed
He's definetly afraid most of the time even if he doesn't show it though, considering "courage" is his whole shtick
Windwaker Limk is the most courageous Not favored by the gods. Not chosen by destiny. Just a lazy island boy who wanted to be a good big brother and stepped up because his sister was in trouble. Took up a mantle that wasn't owed to him and became a legendary princess' knight by his own hand and not destiny's because the world needed him to, not because it was expected of him. Courage is doing what's right even when you don't want to or you're scared to do it. The Hero of the Winds answered the call when there was no hero of destiny to stand before Ganon.
Side note Windwaker isn't even my favorite I just think he's the most courageous Link, bar none. Personally, MM and Link Between Worlds are my favorites.
my first reaction to this is that i dont think any of the links were chosen in the literal sense. i believe when they say chosen, they mean it in the same sense that people use the term "gifted" in real life. im gonna take a look at the games again and will try to get back to you. thank you for the detailed comment!
Why doesn’t this comment have more likes? This is an amazing reply
@@SilverAshes109 maybe because I typo'd Link's name :(
@@redblackgaming To answer this response the Links post Skyward sword are either chosen by the triforce of courage or part of the 'Knight's Line' which are descendants of Link. SS Link is chosen by Zelda/Hylia herself to be her Knight and cursed by Demise to be bound by fate to repeat the cycle. In the downfall timeline, Link has the triforce taken from him, but regains it through the Sages' trial in a Link Between Worlds. In the other timelines, the triforce remains with the hero's spirit. The Hero of the Wind has to pass the trial of the gods to be called a hero and piece together the triforce, himself. And to think he would have been content living on his little island if that big, dumb bird left his little sister alone. His story doesn't end these and his family line actually goes on to its own series of underrated games with very great stories and lore and probably one of the best Zelda/Link dynamics (See spirit tracks) and that game has a few endings, if I recall.
I think one of the biggest contenders is link from the first game. The key here is that in most zelda games the world is civilized; even in Botw there are pockets of civilization. However, in skyward sword and OG the world is wild with little to no points of respite. Basically, those games feel like rugged survivalist settings, but Botw feels like glamping in comparison.
As good of a point as that is, I don't think (as of now) that it requires any more courage than other Links in the series have... I'll have to think about this one more
The bravest Link is the Link from a Link to the Past. That boy went from his world to the dark world to save Hyrule then after that game he was in Zelda OoA/OoS and Link's Awakening. Bro did four games worth of fighting like a Hyrulian postman. Nor time, nor weather, nor dreams, nor twisted dark world would keep that boy from saving the day.
It's arguable that this makes him the most brave. It definitely makes him the most... something (strong, useful?), and I fully acknowledge that, but I don't think that makes him the most brave.
Link from Zelda 2 is easily the most courageous
dude im playing Zelda 2 right now because I was thinking about all the Links and thats the only Link Ive never played as
@redblackgaming right on! I beat 2 for the first time last year and on the Zelda Game & Watch. I consider him to be the bravest because it took me more than 30 years to finally play all the way through without giving up and because of his tremendously short reach- Link practically has to be close enough to kiss the enemy to attack. Also, with exception to the Yiga clan, it's the only game where Ganon's minions are after Link to specifically kill him to then use his blood to resurrect Ganon.
I agree, and it makes sense to the overarching story too. This is the first Link, the one that earned the Godess’ respect as a Courageous Warrior, of course he would be bravest of them all
Interesting point to make if I end up making a full length video about it. I'd shout you out if so!
I think the most courageous Link is Twilight Princess, he always puts others first and puts his life on the line for the people of his village, and despite his obvious fear of entering the Twilight he does anyway.
That's a good contender. He shows lots of fear before entering twilight zones as well
You’re right, but I’d say it’s because he fought god (demise), rather than going into the temples.
Yes that too ha! To clarify my point though - it's more about the internal struggle he goes through before entering the temple than about the temple itself
that’s reasonable enough for me, then.
Lol link can't die because of what the triforce is if you think Abt it
what specifically do you mean? that he gets reincarnated?
@redblackgaming essentially yes, because of the cycle, whoever has the triforce is the main character or characters and ultimately can't fail
@@rap1staskl8r Link can and does die. He has the triforce removed from him in the downfall timeline. Link doesn't 'reincarnate' perse, the spirit of the hero moves on. so, they aren't the 'sane guy', in fact, it's lightly hinted that A Link to the Past's Link and a Link Between Worlds' Link are both alive at the same time. with 'Gramps' being a hidden superboss that mirrors Link's fighting style and gear set and how he went on a similar adventure long ago.
The fierce deity is actually Ben drowned
Yes Drowned is his last name
Dudes tried to summon Ben into this dimension.. and probably succeeded.
h̶̰̽̑e̸͈̕l̴͉̔p̴̤͋́
Yeah! Legends Arceus showed me how much I enjoy just using my pokemon to interact with the world so I think a gameplay style inspired by echoes where I use the unique elemental and physical traits of my Pokemon to solve puzzles and traverse the world would be so good 👍🏿
Pretty sure it's just a placeholder since this was never supposed to be possible in the actual game...
*le gasp* IT'S BEN.
Me, my pen, and my paper stored so many data without knowing it.
yes, that makes you a DBMS (database management system)
I got A
i see you also viewed the other short
I saw the A group version and then I went to the channel to view this one
that's fine
Cool
I didn't know this, but it's actually pretty smart from the king, since, well, *all* the greatest heroes of Hylian story look more or less the same, why would you waste time with other people when you can just... Look for everyone that looks the part and wait until eventually one of them is the hero? lol
I never took it seriously but youre not wrong. It's a pretty effective way to search lol
yeah, only the heroes WE get to see, in the actual lore there is a hero essentially every generation.
1.) This is why those older games still had you start at the begining every time as your location wasn't included in the string. 2.) This was one of the two sources of the modern day "cheat code." The other source was debug keys _(like the famous Konami Code)._ 3.) With games like Metroid, it didn't so much store how many missiles you had but which upgrades you've picked up and which bosses have been defeated. That third one was why some people would actually have a game code *_journal_* for each game, writing down the code and each thing they've collected.
Thanks for all the extra detail. Man it must've felt good writing down notes on paper for the sake of a game.
The save file was actually the paper where I wrote the code
youre not wrong
Look mom, I'm a file!
That’s actually pretty cool! Now I understand why Doom 64 got that password feature. Thought it was just some sort of developer thing! :D
Wait.. so this would be able to be hacked, right? Lol never thought about that 😂
Yep, good observation. Nowadays when save files are encoded, theyre also encrypted to prevent that, as you can easily hack files too
There's some famous hacked passwords in Metroid. For example, the password "MOTHER BRAIN? FUCKIN TOASST" starts the game with Mother Brain already defeated
@@HamStar_Respect for whoever found that out.
I remember one of my old gameboy games having a password save system but never had a pen and paper handy so id always just start over from the beginning 😂
im very confident i would never remember my passwords either
