I have also played one. It has an incredible sound. I was looking for an old Yamaha but I might have to have one of these. I also like the 1.75 nut width. I didn't try the electronics.
I played one of these in my local store. I could feel the top moving while I played. If felt like magic happening.
Don’t believe it I picked the Yamaha both times in the first test. It really sounds good.
I bought the FGX5 about a year ago. Best value guitar I have ever played.
way back in the 1980's it was really tough to get an electric acoustic guitar to sound like a good acoustic guitar. The Yamahas sounded really good even as good as my expensive Takamine. If I were buying right now I probably would pass on the guitar you're reviewing and get a LL16RDL.......but I would be looking at Yamaha as my first choice to play live.
Hey! What's your kit rn? How that minimalist thing went? I got 6 guitars at my apartment 3 of which I don't "need" or like too much. But something stops me from getting rid of them. And I'm no musician just a casual enjoyer
Great video and seems like a great guitar. Thanks for the review!
Great! I would like to slow down the video... But I'll stop and copy.
Damn, the Yamaha was my favorite both ways in the blind test
There's a lot of wisdom in saying you have to be smarter than the device! I apparently am not. I bought this about 2 yrs ago and still can't figure it out. Need a hour long tutorial on how to master this thing. If you're looking for simplicity, the cost of it is probably excessive.
I use an apogee duet with a mac mini computer. I have used this set up for ten years now and got so much out of it and have recorded in many different cities and countries.
to play the guitar you need one guitar. I've struggled to find something I can't do with a tele
Shopping at Sweetwater , got one in my cart now. Just trying to get as much info as possible before I Buy . Thanks for your input, can you explain the difference in the custom model and the pro?
Great review! What battery brand did you use, and how long did they last?
which one you prefered for playablity
5 minutes in and already and you’ve explained this pedal better than most of these vids. Thanks .🫡💯
I really wish i had just one, but now that i got 11 i love em all and would be hurt to let go of any of them. But I can see how having just one would help financially, would make you focus on playing instead of thinking which one to play, would make you get used to one guitar and master it better, etc
hi , sucks that you stopped posting but this was an amazing amazing lesson
A elixir B d addario
Thank you for this video. I am recording with this pedal. Not sure I’d be able to ever use on stage! You have helped me understand how it works and how to use it correctly. Thanks again
Helix is Still King
Well, in this video the D'Addario sounds better but in all my other experiences in real life it's actually the other way around, Elixir always sounds better to my ears
Shields Walk
i've been playing since 1972 when i bought a framus, i used ernie ball electric guitar strings back then, cos - lazy. let's see, i went framus texan, eko twelve string, 1970's gibson J45 (square shoulder - hated it), dione twin neck acoustic (all brass fittings), '66 j45, '66 j50, then when i divorced i went through about 60 guitars in the last ten years and wound up with these "keepers": the 66 j45, 69 epiphone texan, 2000's j35, 2000's maton ebg808TE, larrivee OMO3 zebrano (for sale), and a 2004 martin OOOX1 (which i think is the best guitar i ever heard or owned). i used d'addario for about thirty five years, then friends introduced me to elixir, but now i use martin sometimes, and various not so well known brands that actually sound really good (olympia and others). what i've learned in my 50 or more years of playing and the 60 or so guitars that have come and gone, is that it's all subjective. tommy emmanuel says that guitars get bored with one make of string and he changes to a variety of makes to bring life back, but i say - try everything. sooner or later something will stand out and that's all you can ask for, but entertaining as these videos are, nothing beats trying a new set of a new make on a new guitar. (i have a load of comparison videos on my channel - all a waste of time cos my recordings are so poor - lol).
there is this too: i put a nice new set of strings on my 66J45 (the olympias i think) and it didn't sound particularly exciting, so it went in the case for a few weeks until it's turn came around again, i took it out, played it and it sounded ASTONISHING, capital letters. this has happened before, i have no idea why things would liven up, but they did, so - even more to confuse the issue.
Nice job explaining the t5z. I love this guitar.
yaa-muh-haa
You’re saying Yamaha wrong
FINALLY ! Someone who shows the proper technique he uses to play that riff. Was looking everywhere ! Thanks man
Lol, this is about as useful as a lot of other picking videos out there where they only show the fretting hand. “Watch the way I snap my fingers here.” *camera shows feet*
Elixir Nanoweb 12-53 same as D'Addario Ej16 D’Addario XS is good different high tone
If my turning goes down half pitch, can it still work?
Do coated strings reduce fret life?
Yamaha makes nice Martin guitars.
But how i can now what is the right root in scale?
Adirondack top with xs... great high and mid and overtones and resonance.
My older Martin sounds better with elixirs my new Martin sounds better with the Daddario. I guess it depends on if you need to wake it up or even it out But since I used elixirs for so many years I just assumed I would like them better on my new guitar but it didn't work that way. So I just buy a 3-pack of each online and string each guitar accordingly. I'm very happy with both string sets.
Great pedal but not very practical in a live situation. placed on the floor it hard to see what key you’re in. The pots should go through steps. There should be a input for a external switch so the unit could be mounted to a Mike stand.
A little diffefemt would be doing finger picking
You absolutely don’t know what you’re talking about
Aren't the Red Labels all made in Japan? You said that one was made in China.
I’ve been considering a T5 lately for my duo live performance gigs. So in my research I’ve come across this video (thx by the way for doing it) so for context, I’ve been in a duo with my drummer (plays a cajon) and I play acoustic and sing for past 5yrs. We have been expanding our horizons lately with elect guitar, looping, backing tracks and my drummer using drum pad. So instead of carrying multiple guitars to gigs, I was thinking of just using 1. As of now 85% of our setlist consists of acoustic guitar. Also I’m a bit of stickler on tone quality (at least to my ear) I’m playing a ‘01 Gibson LP standard thru ‘82 JCM 800 50w 2x12 and ‘87 Martin D35 thru Bose L1 using the Bose T8 mixer. So I’m wondering if I would like the sound of the T5 being A/B (elect to Marshall & acoustic to PA) Also which model T5 would suit my needs better. I’m a big fan of the T5z custom, but the T5z pro looks nice too for $500 less. Although it has maple top and that worries me on acoustic tone. One more thing is my Bose T8 mixer has tone matching settings specifically designed for the T5. Also I believe my TC electronic vocal/acoustic processor also has programming for Taylor… although I could be wrong about that, just going on memory here. Does anyone have any experience/advice for me on this?? Am I just gonna be disappointed or waste my time trying this?? I don’t have any T5 available to me at any of my local shops. My only option is to drive 4hrs to Sweetwater to play one. Then decide if it’s worth the effort to bring back home with me to fiddle around with it on my rig, but that’s a lot of work and time, which I don’t have much in the time category ugh. I appreciate any input, thoughts/advice. Thx for the time y’all
In order: 1st test Liked the 2nd one a lot (i was surprised that was the yamaha, i thought it was a martin-ish) 2nd test Absolutely in love with the 2nd one still (wow, never knew about that brand). Anyway tbh i thought you were bling playing this yamaha against a martin and a taylor. Anyway thank you for your important information! ^_^
Luckily your standards are higher than mine. I thought the notes you didn't like sounded fine. :) I even liked the glitch.
Great playing!
2 would be enough I think. 1 acoustic and 1 electric.
So thankful for your in depth review! I tried one of these out in the store without really understanding any of the pickup configs, and I almost discounted it completely before I saw this review.
BRO!!! This is a great video, great information
